PlayOnline explained to me that each character is tied to that specific content ID slot you purchased.Let's say you delete character and then started a new character and had only 1 content ID and leveled that character,but decided you wanted first character back.They told me ony way is to delete that character to get first back and explained buying new ID won't get old character back.I was trying to get Taru back but after  4 or 5 tries a supervisor explained how it works.

Please do not give users false information. Noone at SE told you to Delete it for future activation. If you go to Delete a Content ID it even tells you it can not be retrieved at a later time. Deactivation tells you it can be.

Deleted chracters are held in a buffer for so long and if called, they can retrieve it, after a few days however, it is not regainable even by them.

boy, it has been awhile. i use to play this game so-much.... well until my ps2 broke down.. now the only thing i got left is the hard drive, lol. sucks i can hook it to my xbox.... that would be cool. bring back memories. and if any one wants to know i am the ONE the ONLY-- VENCE OF REMORA! Holla at ya boi. OK Update on that old character.I was bored other day and decided to try and get original Taru back again only using the website and not phone techie so i tried aplieing but now they have certain times you can apply based on last digit of  registration code.I wasn't able to apply then so i waited 3 hrs and tried again and not only does it pop a full list of characters you used,but EVRY character i ever used even mules.I guess the techhie doesnt have a clue and i activated the Taru.

iv been playing for years ffxi changed alot over the years went from 2 exps to 4 wow and there still updateing with more new content there even bringing out 3 new exps but there like sapposed to be with the current ffxi titles and story line with a diff twist it takes alot of time to play ffxi cant expect to dive right in and get stuff done takes months even years to get lvls rank items event items or your job specific equip or opening access to areas such as sky, sea ect ect . i do get fusstrated  sometimes but its a really fun game once you get into it iam on unicorn server   my jobs are  dac37, sam37,nin37,war41,mnk33, cor32, drg15, rdm37,  those are most of the jobs i lvl for subs  heres my good jobs sch66, drk75, thf72,  and my most fav job is pup75 i try to lvl as many jobs i can so whenever some1 needs me to sub w-e ill be prepared   iam a campain *** i campain alot and i do mean alot lololol  well i hope this doesnt bore any1 just trying to let people know more about me and stuff but iam not a noob thats for sure i guess you can call me a ffxi veteran but its really nice to meet new people on here and the game if any1 is on unicorn server add me ill give u a pearl my ls has over 200 + members and still growing my chr name is [neol]  add me on xbox to well hope to hear from some of you cool players soon

Damn this is helpful. I just got this today with all expansions for 14.99 at GS. I used to always love playing it on my friends PS2.

For anyone trying to get achievements, they will not appear automatically once you have completed them. To unlock, you have to goto a "Wandering Minstrel" (the Bard that changes your title) found in the Inns and Bars of Vana'diel. Achievements are retroactive- You can unlock the achievement even if you were not playing the Xbox 360 version at the time that you performed the achievement.

It also should be noted that Achievements in FFXI are quite difficult and in most cases, cannot be obtained in one single day.

!00% wrong i've deleted characters,cancelled there content ID and and got all back with 3 characters and 1 was 2 years after the delete/cancel thing!Your character is stored by your ID so when you do the restore during the time they specifiy ALL your characters show even lv1 mules from 360 beta!

They also listed EVERY charcater i ever started and i started charaters and after a bit didnt like race or job and deleted and when i  tried to get back the few higher leveled ones the listed had ALL!I didn't even remember some of them!
