Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
well my repaired xbox is about few hours away from me so the one thing i might be mad once i get it is

better not be any:

Scratches, scuff marks, even though it's not the one i sent in.

my xbox i sent in was brand new and i got the rrod and i sent it in with no scratches , has the hdmi, and no other problems eccept for the rings of death. because i will gadly waste my time into telling them to send me my xbox back even if it's not fixed and i'll start playing ps3 since they replace their products with new sealed systems if BROKE.

I have to ask someone here because no one from Microsoft will actually talk to me. How am i meant to get my xbox fixed? I have registered my console for the online repair thing, and it tells me to click on the "request repair" button to continue ... but i don't have one. I tried to call up the support centre 5 times on seperate days, and I never managed to get through to a person.I've sent emails and everything i can think of. Does anyone know,
HOW CAN I FIX MY XBOX!

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
what has the typical turnaround at the repair center been been lately for RROD?

the UPS tracking site shows my box having been delivered on 4/23 at 11 am, but the repair status site on xbox.com does not show it as having been received (it is still showing "waiting for console" even though the site also shows the UPS tracking info) .. this box lasted almost 2 years after being refurbed and i cannot recall how long it took for repair center to send it out last time

Got my XBox back after a total of about two weeks.  Reading the documentation though...

I seriously have to redownload everything to reinstate the licenses?  That's effing insane!  I have gigs that I'd have to redownload!  It's especially painful with Rock Band and Karaoke Revolution song downloads.  A couple of things I don't think even exist anymore.  There has to be a better way!

Also, instead of replacing the broken USB cover on my faceplate, they just removed it.  Lame.

Well, i'll be shipping mine off tomorrow 04/24/09. I've been having the RROD blues for about a month, now i think it finally died on me. This will be the last game system I purchase made by MS, this thing has way to many issues. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the game itself, of course without the hardware issues. MS should be ashamed of themselves for not meeting their standards, and disappointing the consumers. Guess i'll have to go back to the ps2, it's years old, and has no issues.

I need help with the repair process online. I get everything set up online and when im about to submit for the last time an "ERROR CODE:Sorry we can not process your repair at this time". So I try again the next day and the same thing happens. So i've tried it everyday for a week with the same error so has anyone had this problem? I think that its because everyone is sending in boxes from the e74. Send me a msg to my GT if you know anything.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
Well, here is my story: I got my Xbox ALMOST 1 year ago aware of all the problems because frankly who wants a PS3? One of my friends got the RROD last year but under the advice of someone not so smart, towel baked it, and when he sent it in MS told him off. So he bought a new one. My OTHER friend also got the RROD, but is an idiot, and didn't even send it in for repair?! He didn't know the 3 year warranty extension, so bought a new one... I don't spend hours on end on my XBOX, but i do spend a decent amount of time... Maybe a few hours a week?... Depending on work load, school work, outside life, etc... Then it happened. I asked my friend while playing COD if he noticed the graphics were shotty... he said he didnt notice on his end... Next day. E74 I thought Best Buy would cover it... what a *** show best buy is... Anyhow, send my XBOX in using an old SONY box... ironic, right?! on tuesday, and its Friday now, and I am told my box is being shipped back TODAY. That is good news. I think its much more convenient to print the E-Label for sure, use your own box, or pre-existing coffins. It is much quicker... (mind you I live in Canada, I don't know if this makes a diff) But anyway, I guess I'll be getting a refurb, and if i keep up the few hours per week gaming, I'm sure I'll be sending it back within a year...

Where are you guys shipping them to?  Mine's going to Mesquite, TX, which is about a 45 minute drive from my house.  I'm hoping they'll hurry up and get it back to me.

Too bad they can't have Sony make their hardware.  While my Xbox is in the shop, I'm playing my PS2 that I bought at launch.  It runs like a champ, and I played the crap out of it before I bought my Xbox last year.

I'm about 75 miles from Dallas/Mesquite and my repaired console was shipped back to me on April 24th.  It doesn't show ANY movement at all.  It just says, "Billing Information Recieved".  And from my experiance with UPS, since that's what our company does, IT'S LOST!  My question is, is UPS going to pay me back for it, if it's declared lost?

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
My system started freezing this weekend, and tonight I get the RROD.  I called customer support because I was unable to register my serial number to my Windows Live login (the one I use to sign into xbox.com, which is tied to by gamertag).  I kept getting invalid serial number.  The first rep I spoke was able to pull up my name and address, but when I gave him my email, was unable to tie it to my account.  He told me to make a new windows live id.  I do that, give him my info, he says everything is linked together and to go to the xbox support site and print out the shipping label.  I hang up, try it with the new windows live account i made, and get invalid serial number.

2nd call, I explain the problem, am told to use the windows live account that my gamertag is tied too.  This rep is unable to register my information as well.  He tells me I don't need it to print the shipping label.  I go to xbox.com/support and enter in my service request number and zip code, get invalid zip code.  He tells me I can't print it out.  I ask if it can be emailed to me, am told no.  I have to wait 5 business days for the shipping label to arrive.

3rd call, I call Microsoft assistance.  Explain my problem, tell them I just want to print the label out so I can ship it back in the morning instead of waiting 5 business days for the label to show up (7 days total with the weekend coming up).  They say they have to transfer me to xbox live.  I tell them I've talked to them twice, they can't help.  Nothing she can do, back to the same people.  Rep 3 does the same as the first two, then tells me he will delete everything and start over.  Same problem.  Tells me he entered in the repair info, go to status, print label, I get bad zip code again.  He asks for my login and password, at this point I'm really frustrated so I tell him go for it, he logs in and has the same problem.  Finally told to wait a few hours, or until tomorrow and try it again.  If that doesn't work, then I have to call back again to have a shipping label mailed to me.

Sorry for the long post.  I accept the fact that it's broken and they will repair it at no charge.  My frustration comes from the fact that I could get this thing out and back a week faster, but the reps you talk to can't seem to do something that sounds rather simple to me.  I could have the thing boxed up and delivered to them faster before the shipping label arrives here.  Is it possible to ship the console to Microsoft directly?  I work in a deployment center with multiple UPS pickups a day.  I'll overnight it myself if it's possible, I just don't want to call them back this evening to ask.

Had 360 since the system first came out and have had 3, count'em 1. 2. 3. RROD.  So when they sent me back my third "refurbished" box of crap I sold it to a co-worker and bought the "jasper" model.  For those who dont know the jasper model is supposedly the end of RROD.  But less then a year of owning this machine it froze and "matrix" style letters started dropping from the top of the screen.  Restarted it and a black screen with every language in the world popped up telling me there's a system hardware failure, keyword being "failure".  The bottom of the screen showed a letter and number, E74.  Others reported it being E64, 65 or something similar.  Long story short, Got fed up with the disapointment and am now purchasing a PS3.  I pretty much "jumped off the bridge cause my friends were doing it", so to speak.  If anyone is wondering my OnlineID for the PS3's PSN is BROKEN360.  If your fed up like I was come join me, if not bring a lifevest next time your standing on the bridge.

Yes MarkD1990, kindly indicate the reference number anywhere outside the box and another copy on a piece and place it inside the box along with the console so the service center can quickly identify it.

Cuz the PS3 will play all your Xbox games that you have enjoyed so much.

I get that the RROD is frustrating (mine is on the way to the repair center now) but I love my Xbox games. I really do. The Playstation has very few games that interest me, and I own over 250 XB/360 games.

My hope is that the next system is 100% compatible with the 360 and existing BC games. My Genesis, Coleco, NES, GC, GB, SGB, and original XB all work  great. Just give me a new system that can last. I'll buy it on day 1.
Boardgames are fun to play as well! Give 'em a try.

Go BGG!!!

It's been a while since I last had to send in a console RROD.

Do they require SIGNATURE confirmation when UPS delivers the console back to me? I cannot remember. Thanks in advance.

I really like the implimentation of the multi stage online repair status. It really would have been nice to have had it available all those other times I'd have RROD since '05. Calling every few days to get an update was a pain.

Anyone have any reference to how long it takes for it to say "Console Received" on the web site from when the UPS tracking # says it was delivered to TX?

Any help would be appreciated.

All XBOX 360 consoles have a 1 year warranty, which is what you see when you check the status on the XBOX website.  After that ends, you still have a 3-year extended warranty, even if the site states yours has expired.  But this extension will only cover an E74 or RROD failure AS OF NOW.

What web browser are you using to view the site? I have difficulty using XBOX.com with Firefox but not with IE.

Mine was shipped on the 27th.  They got it on the 28th at 7pm.  They repaired it today, and it already says "console shipped".  I should probably have it by tomorrow if that's the case.  I'm less than an hour from the repair center.
