Re: Report Phishing Sites To This Email

I got this the other day in my messages.  I don't know if it's "phishing" but it was unwanted by me.  It was sent by "CJaksen"...
"I work for Ford’s advertising agency. We are recruiting proficient Need for Speed players for an event. Please call me asap. Thanks. 248/505-XXXX".

Why does laying around make you more tired?

Probably not phishing. Just creepy. Block communications if you want.

^Agreed.  That's not phishing - just really annoying.  Just ignore him and/or block him.

Thanks Frag...and I did block him.  Makes you wonder where these people come from.

Re: Report Phishing Sites To This Email

I received a message the other day from a gamertag "SHaDowX Sn1p3R" that told me to go to a certian website to get a modern warfare beta. Suspecting a "too-good-to-be-true" type of scam, I went to the site and noticed that it asked me to sign in to get the beta. Windows Live sites always say "Login" above the login boxes, not a long and drawn out description. The website poses as an xbox.com website - but there is no xbox.com/etc etc etc in the address bar. I also noticed that the xbox icon in the upper left doesn't lead back to xbox.com. Knowing it was a scam, I tried to avoid the player, only to realize that I couldn't send feedback. I filed a complaint immediately thereafter for feedback tampering.

So, this person is trying to get personal information through sign-ins to the website, and his gamertag is blocking feedback that anyone sends - good or bad.

I sent an email to the one listed here, and I hope this guy gets destroyed before he gets too many victims sucked in.

Re: Report Phishing Sites To This Email
OK, I don't know where else to turn, Xbox support is telling me I have to contact them by phone which I'd rather not do.

I got a message yesterday from "Xbox360Assist":

"This is a member of the XboxLive Team. Due to some complaints, your account must be verified to remain on XboxLive. Please respond with your email address and password associated with this account for further Windows Live ID verification. Thank You."

I have not opted to avoid the player nor have I filed a complaint (yet), but I replied that until further notice I would assume he is a phisher and report him. He was online when I sent the message, and I have not as of yet received a reply.

I am not about to verify the information over Xbox Live or through any other medium until I am 100% sure that nothing other than verification is going to be done with it.

Does this have anything to do with the recent email I sent about the other phisher? What should I do?

File a complaint. An Xbox employee will NEVER ask you for your password. File a complaint now. Check out this from one of the enforcement team http://forums.xbox.com/28702665/ShowPost.aspx

Under what category should I file a complaint? There isn't one for phishing...and thanks.

Tampering I think. And keep the message in case they request it.

Why would they request it? Filing a complaint doesn't require real evidence, but I do still have it.

I had a situation that bootblack was helping with. He requested the email after I blocked the offender as blocking communication with the user purged the message from the system.

So what would I do? Just send a message with the exact same text to him? How would he know if anybody between Xbox360Assist and me tampered with the message or something?

I'm uncertain about storage of the actual message itself, but the Live servers log every message sent between users.  That may be enough info for him to take action.

Should I just keep the message so I have the exact wording or something, delete it, or should I just let it expire in case I need it before it expires?

Re: Report Phishing Sites To This Email
I would suggest taking it down, word-for-word and then deleting it.  It'll auto-delete in 30 days anyway and if MS really did need a copy they'd have to have a way to get it off the Live servers - not your 360.

Re: Report Phishing Sites To This Email
I got a message whilst playing battlefield the other week:

"hi mate i got free ms points 5000omg! www.freemicrosoftpointz4u.110mb.com"

I had a look at the website and it is definitley a phishing site, i reported it and as of now the site is still up. However, the guy who sent me the meesage has had his gamerscore reset to 0 (it was over 250000) so he was obviously using  game save hacks to boost his GS.

I lol'd when i saw his gamerscore was reset but they still need to get the site taken down as it's an obvious scam

Message returned from hosting company "I have locked this site until the site leader responds to our e-mail about possible phishing." Site is probably done.

1) I just want to make sure that site I sent you weeks ago was closed down.
2) I did keep the message as a .txt file, so if you ever need it, I have it.

You'll have to look and see.  I take care of all the reporting but, of course, cannot guarantee the host will take action (most do - and pretty quickly).
