Amazing, whoever worked this out deserves a free beer! works every time and the ace serve is good too. Its a cheap way to win but the game is virtually impossible otherwise and i will use online to judge how good i am anyway... (undefeated so far btw).

Thanks again!

i worked it out

send me something then Smile [:)]

Seem to be struggling on all the all star games... they dont always return the same way after a drop so it must just be a case of play it enough times and should eventually get a win... still annoying though!

HI again people

yes u can do it with jesper he is the easist to use for the combo shots and hes easy to play against aswell since it slows his game down

and i have done the savant with this technique, of course the cpu wont ALWAYS backspin it but they do back spin it quite alot and then u get the combo shot going

its really easy

Say the opponant hits it to ur right that makes u hit it back on a forhadn right so u do a combo shot the the LEFT
a A and X but if they hit it to ur left so that u have to do a back hand then u do a combo shot to the RIGHT with a A and B combo shot.

Thanks! I get it now!

This technique has worked well, and gotten me through All-Star to the Semis against Jung Soo. This guy is driving me crazy. I get him six feet to one side of the table and focus spin to the other side--he's suddenly faster than Carl Lewis, moving in a blur to the other side of the table, not to hit a defensive shot that I can smash, but a simply ridiculous shot on a ball at his ankles that comes flying cross court at such a stupid angle I don't have a chance at it. He backspins a lot, just like he's supposed to, but when I focus combo him, he often slams it back at 100 mph instead of popping it up. I've tried the ace approach, which I had been using only when I got in trouble in a game, but he's so fast I can't ace him either. Snipa, did you do anything differently against Jung Soo?

Oh, and is there any way to turn off the post point animations? THANK GOD Jung Soo isn't as ugly as Luc. Even though my match against Luc was pretty short, I got so sick of looking at him with that *** pony tail and with his *** taunting when he won a point... Could they have made him any uglier? I guess so, which they did with Cassidy.

Re: How to beat the CPU everytime [for ppl who need help]
I need this spelled out for me.  This is not working -- not even once.

1.  i hit a backspin shot to the opponents forehand.
2.  he hits it back to me w/ backspin.
3.  I now must go full focus by click my right shoulder button and hit it back w/ some sort of combo --A+X or A+B.
4.  Supposedly, this should result in the opponent popping the ball up...it doesn't happen.

I am only playing in the rookie tournament and I am about to get rid of the game because I really can't see getting any better at this game.

Okay his strategy is very simple but can be confsing.  At any point in the rally, you have to wait until he hits it to your right side. (Could be off the serve or on rally 59 for all I care)  One you get them to hit it to your right(can work for left but for explanation sake we will say right).  OK, recieve it on the right while you are steup(i.e. not on the run or off balance).  Then hold the X and Y and move your left analog stick 45 deg. down and left(or 225 deg.).  Then when the return it(Snipa says that if they give a backspin back its easiest, but I think a harder return from them is best).  Off their return you give a hard top-right spin( A and B ) at a 45deg right and down(or 315deg).  It will work best if you add manual focus(RB) to that shot.  I hope this helps all who cant get that strat to work.........If you want to start it on the left side then just do B-Y then X-A .  To find whcih side works bes for you you might want to know what side your characters is best at.

There are certain opponents that are not falling for it as often as others. Kumi, for example, will be destroyed by this thing VERY fast. Luc, however, not so well. He seems to be able to defend against the smash much better than, say, Kumi. Very frustrating trying to beat Luc on All Star.

The CPU opponents will not always return the ball the way they have to in order for you to pull the move, but they will eventually ALWAYS do it, if you keep pushing the back spin on them. It'll absolutely happen 100% of the time. The smash won't work if you misplace the shot. You really have to make sure you smash it at the very side/corner of the table, otherwise players like Luc and Liu Ping will murder you with their returns.

I haven't noticed the move working any less efficiently from set to set.

I'm having trouble with Luc on Pro Circuit with this.  He seems to be picking up on it quickly.  Then again, I'm still getting the hang of the combo.  Great tip otherwise!

I'll have to try this out.

I'm surprised so many people seem to use the buttons instead of analog. It seems like the combos are way easier with the stick.

alright thanks. I'm starting to get the hang of it, but they sometimes don't hit it back to me like they should and they get a score. I"m sometimes I focus on trying to do this method too much and they get a score on me.

"they sometimes don't hit it back to me like they should and they get a score"

Keep hitting the back spin into the corner until the CPU opponent returns the ball to you the "right" way. They'll eventually do it, if you are patient and keep at it.

Sometimes the CPU opponent positions him/herself so that your focus shot won't be effective. I'm having a lot of trouble against Juergen for that reason. He kinda doesn't go far enough towards the center of the table and keeps on hanging near the corner my focus shot would be going at. If I make a top spin focus shot there, he'll be able to return the ball dangerously (especially, if his focus meter is maxed out). You gotta watch for that.

This is like trying to explain how to make a peanut butter sandwich.  It many cases you can just say, "put the peanut butter on the bread", but what about:  Where is the peanut butter located?  Where is the knife?

I have tried this MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY times.  It does not work as written.  I will clarify several things.

If you are willing to help, please write it so a freaking retard can understand what you are saying.  Do not leave out ANYTHING.

Step 1:  "Hold the X and Y and move your left analog stick 45 deg. down and left(or 225 deg.)"

HOW LONG SHOULD I HOLD THE X AND Y TOGETHER?  HOW LONG SHOULD I HOLD THE LEFT ANALOG STICK?

Step 2:
"Then when the return it(Snipa says that if they give a backspin back its easiest, but I think a harder return from them is best).  Off their return you give a hard top-right spin( A and B ) at a 45deg right and down(or 315deg).  It will work best if you add manual focus(RB) to that shot."

AGAIN, HOW LONG DO YOU HOLD THE BUTTONS DOWN?

DO I HAVE TO ADD MANUAL FOCUS FOR THIS TO WORK?

I don't even know how I know this will work since after about 500 tries, all I have gotten is about 10 lost games.  When this supposedly "works", what should happen?  They will pop the ball up?

Oh so you want me to teach you how to play table tennis too.....This strat is for those who are on the higher difficulty and know how to play......I mean I shouldnt have to explain to you how to preform a simple shot in TT, use common sense(and yes retards usually have it) and put the shots as far as you can and since you want the spin to take effect you want to hold the buttons for as long as possible.....Hey do youy want me to come over and play it for you to.......

Just looking for some help.  I don't need to be criticized when I am just trying to get it.

I am getting this as clarified as possible because it is not working for me, despite re-reading the same paragraph over and over.
