That creation of the grid video was mind blowing but also gives me the courage and confidence to complete all the achievements and to get a great score.

Thanks again!!

Those videos are insane the way you are able to create without unwated combos is amazing. I need to learn to make and maintain the grid you seem to restore it effortlessly.  Great work I wish I could do that

Psycho! No problem, im here to help. First I must say I am sorry im not able to post links or even separate paragraphs dew to my cell phone limitations. I know it suks. I think if I do smiles it will seperate paragraphs but anyways. Sad [:(] The first two very important things you need, is a grid system and a bomb defense. Smile [:)] The masters grid is the best way to have the entire board under control using star flowers to block potential accidental combos while using the star flowers ability to move pieces anywhere you want and allowing you to collect multipliers. Making star flowers and moving them in place takes some work but it does become easier after a few games. Read the info regarding Star Stacking and Star Walking on this thread, which has tons of great info and a few videos on them techniques. Now the bomb defense, basically whenever you do a regular 3 piece combo, star flower or a black pearl, you want to keep making them at the very top of the screen to keep the grid in control from causing accidental combos and chain reactions leaving the grid ruin. Keep a location just for this. (center, top of the screen) Doing so will control exactly where new pieces will land and have a bomb defense surrounding this location just waiting for a bomb. There is also a huge Bomb Defense guide by Motosan for further information. Check that out Harry. Here is a picture of the Masters grid. Smile [:)] http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/2379/thegridsystemeh0.jpg Smile [:)] Im sorry im not able to post a direct link but copy and paste works. The reason I first mention this is because without these things, making a MMC will by near impossible. MMC is a massive mulriplier combo, which have alot rules that takes place for it to work. Having 1 piece in the wrong spot can be a huge difference in points. You want have ready a design of the MMC that you want to make. I like to collect my first ten multipliers before I start building the MMC. Once I have my first ten pieces that are need for the MMC I start placing them from the bottom up, one row at a time. Then I collect the remaining multipliers and pieces that are needed. Xraf has an awesome Advance Scoring Reference which explains alot on these MMCs and shows a bunch of pictures of successful MMC to try. It is very difficult making these MMCs but have patience and alot of practice is going to be needed.Sad [:(] I am sorry im not able to post links dew to my cell phone limitations but let me know if you have any questions. Good luck.
Thanks qbix

Congratulations Alfa!! We are very glad that it was able to help on your achievements. Thanks for taking time to leave good feed back. It's also fun going for a new score. This guide is based on the general idea of Hexic, there's alot more good information in these threads. For bomb defense, advance scoring resources and a bunch of hints scattered everywhere. Smile [:)] Dont give up Bitten, because it does take time to get things going.

One trick I did that helped was to keep restarting the game until you see a board that you can make star in the middle of the screen in one or two moves. after that, you're in star city :)

I'm left with the big three achievements to get this game all wrapped up. It is addictive but I'm kind of guessing that the grid takes the fun out of the game? Gonna give it a go and see if I can figure this grid thing out......time to get my thinking cap on:)

Taking the fun out of the game?  It's actually the opposite!  Until you are comfortable with setting up and using a grid system, you are really not fully realizing what this game can be.

Pre-Grid Hexic = riding a 10-speed bike.

Using the Masters Grid to construct an MMC = driving a Ferrari.

Re: oldtaco & Stoffs Guide to the Grid System (Videos)

Really great guide!

I recently started playing Hexic again, after having my Xbox for almost a year and hardly playing it. I must say, it's pretty hard to start with the grid system, but I feel I am getting the hang of it now. I have been reading alot of threads here, and it's nice to see the "legendary" (I might say ;)) players being very active on these forums showing their achievements and sharing tactics.

I have learned a lot the past days, and even though I barely have time to play I managed to set up a partial grid(2x6 flowers) for the first time yesterday. Man I had trouble getting used to making flowers and walking them. I kept making unwanted combos and clustering my flowers.. :(

But now I feel I'm getting somewhere. Just taking my time, watching really careful not to make unwated combos, rebuilding the grid becomes easier and it keeps improving. All that is left now is to make a full grid, set up a bomb defense system and I'll reach my goals soon enough :)

I'm not planning on getting in the top part of the leaderboards, I just want to "finish" Hexic by getting all achievements. It's a goal I've set for myself, and about as much as I can get with the lack of free time on my hands. I'm pretty sure though, that I wouldn't be able to get even close to finishing Hexic if it wasn't for this forum and the great players posting in it. So thanks for giving me hope to reach my goal! :)
