I'm having the same exact problem as well. Have you tried with another AV cable? I was going to call a friend and ask to borrow his cable to try it tomorrow. I just hope it's not a problem with the console and it was just a problem with the AV cable. Anyone have and idea of how much the repair would cost if I had to send it to MS?

It's not the cable- I've tried it with someone else's, on different inputs, on a different TV, etc.  Considering all I've read up on it I'd have to say it's the video card.  Still haven' been able to get it to work.

I'm really hoping that isn't the case with my system.  I left it around for a while and tried plugging it back in and it works fine, then a few moments later the colors started to get all distorted, showing a bunch of pixilated blue boxes, the first time around with green boxes. Then when I turned it off and back on again, got the black screen with the black lines. I'm not digging the idea of having to pay to get it repaired, it's been almost a full year since my RROD.

JASPER GPU is the solution to the RROD and all other problems.

They have solved the problem already. Thats why they are putting the Jasper on the market. It runs cooler, more efficently and much quieter. So......problem solved. Any problem you may have with your xbox can be solved by getting a Jasper model. lol. So back to my question i posted before please. Smile [:)]

Add me to the list . I have 3 xboxes and two of them went faulty with the sound and no video fault within 2 weeks of each other . Rather suspicious if you ask me. I will call microsoft and see if they are willing to repair free of charge as they are out of warranty. If they wont i will be doing the x clamp fix which seems to be the only fix for it. why pay microsoft to fix it when you get no warranty after that ?? no chance.

Im not sure if the x clamp will fix the problem because the main cause is the 90 nm cpu and 90 nm gpu overheating. But good luck. It might help keep the problem from happening again for awhile though. Beer [B]

I did the xclamp fix a week ago, and it fixed the no video problem. Have been testing it out all week, have had the box on for 12+ hrs a day, and watching movies, playing games, and it works great.

Re: no video but i have audio
I think xbox 360 sucks. I found out that after I paid $400 dollars for my Xbox 360 my warranty has expired and it will not display any video. So now in the middle of a recession people wonder why people aren't spending money on things like toys. Why would they it will cost them another $99.00 to fix. I took very good care of my system. In fact I haven't played the system very much for the past 1 1/2. I am just really disguisted and heartbroke all at the same time. I also had a hard time understanding the lady on the other end of the phone. So tech support sucks to. Also i find it really rude that people would be in the background laughing and carrying on when my feelings are crushed. I also wonder what about the money I already paid for the xbox live account. I guess I wasted that money too. I have read 53 pages of complaints on the same problem. Maybe the new enviroment blew up the china made parts.

Re: no video but i have audio
I don't think it is fair. My xbox didn't have the RROD. My XBOX started by the screen going black for a few seconds and then coming back. Now my screen is black. I didn't have no funny colors or no RROD. I wish i had the RROD then my XBOX would get fixed. It seems to be that the problem is the same. I took very good care of my system. It was in one spot the whole time. I played my system alot when i first got it. but, when i went back to school in the fall of 2007 months would go by without me playing it. the sticker on the back says it was manufactured july of 2006. so it is only 2 1/2 years old and I bought it about 2 years ago for $400 dollars. I will not rest until it gets fixed and i will not pay.

Re: no video but i have audio
During Halo 3, the Halo Wars Demo, and the Xbox Dashboard, all the light parts are replaced by a weird darker colour. It's confusing because in the Halo 3 radar instead of yellow and white dots there are black dots. Now it's gone completly black, and when playing a video (ex: DVD) there are the short white lines in a pattern going South-East on the screen.

it seems that you have done all the troubleshooting steps... last resort, repair. =) you could create the repair through the support line, 18004MYXBOX. if you're from canada it would be $149 but if you're from US its $119. but if you create the repair in this website it will be $99 dollars...

I should probably just buy a new arcade for $200. Then it would be NEW. Doesn't Microsoft say that they don't guarantee a fix?

Re: no video but i have audio
This just happened to me with my launch 360, which is obviously out of warranty.  No RROD ever, just this.  Interestingly enough, it happened immediately after I got a console update, just like that fateful day in June 2008 when so many others died.  The X Clamp repair looks way too in depth for me so what are my options?  Sending it in for a repair or buying a new one?  How should I approach this?  How does one ask for a free repair? :P

Was working perfectly fine 2 days ago, turned it on last night and no video. This is on a repaired/refurbished console because I got the rrod about a year ago, now this.

Add me to the list.  I got the same problem with my 360 Arcade a few days ago while playing Fallout 3.  Sux that it stopped working after just over a year after purchase.  I am not going to pay Microsoft $99 to fix a problem that is apparently inherent in Xbox 360 consoles around the world, and neither should any of you.  We'll see how it goes after contacting the better business bureau.

What the hell is wrong with this system. This is my second Xbox 360, my first got the same exact problems and i only had it for about 2 months and now ive had this one for about 2 weeks and its gone to hell already. Atleast the fix will be free, but still something should be done about this problem. If my Xbox gets messed up one more time im just going to trash it and move on to the wii. Its ridiculous to have this problem twice when ive only had the system for about 4 months.

Re: no video but i have audio
Hey check out this quick fix. It might not work with all Xbox's and bear in mind that I am no technical genius when it comes to these sorts of things, but try wrapping your Xbox in something and letting it overheat to the point of 2 red rings or when you belive it is hot enough (I left mine for 2 and a half hours NO RED RINGS) then allow for it to cool within 5-10 minutes after which time you turn it on and check if you can see the video. This worked for me maybe you guys will have the same luck. If your Xbox is past its warranty and you dont feel like you want to pay in order to get it fixed give this a try, you have nothing to lose.

After reading a lot of messages in this thread  i thort i would give xbox support a ring, hoping to hear... "Ah yes we know about this send it over" but instead i got a load of bullsh*t. "This is not a issue i have heard of" is the repsonce i got. This is the biggest pile of wank ever. I am going to save my £80 quid and get a PS3. sell all may games and go back to a better console. I hope the Xbox rots in hell

Re: no video but i have audio
Hate to say it:

But when mine pulled this little trick, I got it repaired (fortunately under extended MS warranty), got the replacement back (which broke within a week), got that replacement back and my lovely Xbox went off to Ebay.  My other 3rd gen console is working flawlessly.  When more people vote with their feet ($$$$), MS will pay attention, own up to their problem, and start treating this like the RRod.  Until then, you can still "fix" the problem by moving to another company's more reliable HW.

I've been following this thread ever since and it's amazing how many people are still having this problem and finding this thread.  I wonder how many more are having this problem that haven't found this thread!

Re: no video but i have audio
I'll add my problem to the on-going list. SAME EXACT THING!! Two nights ago I was playing Guitar Hero and my screen had an odd green-ish tint. I reset and ever since, I get nothing but a blank screen. Audio is fine. I called Xbox but because my warrenty is out they want $100. This is crap, I sent my Xbox in 1 1/2 years ago for ROD. I've also dropped well over $1000 in games, xbox live, and peripherals, I shouldn't have to pay squat.  I am the 892 person to post this problem. This is a trend and Xbox needs to address the problem!!

When I sent mine in the first time a couple months ago, they had it for a total of 2 weeks from ship off time. Ohh just remembered I used the Wal Mart people since I had the extended warranty through them though...don't know if that's any different

For those of you who are out of warranty and would rather pay a bit more for a guaranteed functional system, Dell is selling X360 Arcades for $160 with free shipping.  20% off coupon code is PLDWH47D$6BT2J.  Get 'em while they're hot, as this deal usually sells out really quickly.  People on Ben's Bargains are saying that these have the new Jasper chipset.

Re: no video but i have audio
There has got to be a reason for this to be happening to everyone for this is happening to me to it has got to be a scripted error in the newest patch/download. My friend has had this happen to him as well microsoft should truly have to fix these at no cost because to many people have this happening to them at the time. Even if the warrenty expired they still have no right for this to happen at the time, and those who agree should post on this and just try to get them to do this for us. If you dissagree with me you can say so, but i doubt many people will.Angry [:@]
