Hill 400 and D-day are by far the hardest on the game.  I have had a lot of problems trying to beat those and have finally given up.  I've played legendary on halo many times but it doesnt compare to veteran on call of duty 2.  i think veteran is the hardest on this game than 3 and 4.

I imagine in real life they probably had thousands of different mortar crews.... What makes no sence to me is why there on top of a silo as if thats a really great place to be when mortars are flying over your head.

Well, the most a Wehrmacht regiment would have had in WW2, would be one mortar detachment per platoon and a regular German regiment would have had four companies of two platoons.  So eight is the most you would expect and this would have been rare, as the norm would have been to have one detachment per compacy (i.e. 4).

But you're right, you would have to be seriously dumb to climb to the top of just about the only thing left standing in the town, when that much ordnance is flying around.

I miss this game, but not on veteran, but it's fun to discuss which ones were hardest.  I would think "Hill 400" because I had a lot of trouble on that one on regular.

Well yea if your talking unit and regiment wise.

But the fact that in that mission almost all infantry is taken out before the mortar teams even come into it. So its like a swarm of mortar teams.

Which makes no sence realisticly speaking because why would the germans waste so many mortar teams on Randalls little squad. Not to mention it seems like there aiming all those mortars at the silo and if you think about it only one well trained mortar team would be needed to take out any structure.

Thanks man but that one really wasn't a problem for me. The ones I hate is the last mission of Caen to hold the off the counter attack for literally 20 minutes, and all of hill 400.

Campaigns not for everyone but honestly i've played a lot of games on hard mode and COD2 and COD3 really aren't as hard as a lot of games.

All you have to do is keep your wits about remeber the enemy patterns (theres no random enemies everythings planned) and use smoke grendaes when theres a lot of enemies pinning you down. I admit anyone playing Vet will die a lot but at least the checkpoints aren't to bad. Now i've only beat COD2 but i will beat COD3 and COD4 eventualy (dunno if i'm gonna get COD4 or WAW i'll wait to see what the reviews for waw are like) because these are great quality games that are revolutionizing the way games are made and i wont stop playing any of them...

Although unlike a lot of COD fans i'm also a Halo fan for life.

If your anything like me you should find crossing the rhine to be very easy.

Only hard part is the end when you gotta destroy the tanks but thats not even that hard.

I finished the game on Vet about two weeks ago, and for me The Silo was the hardest. Not sniping the mortar crews, but taking the houses. Second hardest was Tiger on Caen, the german HQ gave me a hard time. I expected Hill 400 to be as hard as The Silo, but I had no big trouble really, had to try a few times on some check points, but never got stuck, really.

Why do people always have trouble with houses?

I mean i get that the nazi's are hiding in bad spots but eventualy you can predict were there gonna be hiding.

Because for me they never stoped spawning, there was just a continuence of enimies re-appearing. My advice would be just rush inside and keep trying because once inside they don't re-appear. Also I can't count the amount of times I killed a teamate and had to restart.

Checkpoints should really come up faster, and that was my number one problem with cod 3.

Friendlies are a HUGE problem, especially in buildings at the silo. I died half the times and the other half I shot my own guy cause he got in my way. I had to watch my radar like crazy and count how many friendlies I had to make sure I wasn't shooting at one by mistake.

Just beat Crossing the Rhine today, bitter sweet though, it only took me an hour and I was surprised to find out that it only had one mission to it. No where near as exciting as the end of COD4, bravo to Infinity Ward for giving us that as an improvement upon COD2. Nonetheless, awesome Veteran Campaign. My vote is still D-day (The Silo) as the hardest level and mission respectively.

Easily Dday.

Theres a few other hard parts but Dday takes the cake. The only part i remeber that was bad was that ambush at the beggining of the level in Africa but thats about it.

Single player on this was best ever! I remeber doing veteran first off and doin it in bout week - 2 weeks, and yes it was hard. If i remember correctly though, i got most frustrated by killing my own teammates who would run in front of you all the time!

Ya, I didn't even waste my time on COD3, I couldn't beat the first part of like the third mission, so I figure I have no shot later on either. Plus everytime I try, I have to go through that 5 minute intro of them making fun of the French, it gets old after the first 2 or 3 times.

The most annoing part agreed.. they really should of let you skip the cut scenes because some of them are literally like 10 minutes.

No there not 10 most are less than 5.
Also you can still use the dashboard while its going which is at least something....
I've had to play Cod3 twice on Vet because the first time didn't count because i broke my checkpoint (LAME).
But since i'm having to play it twice i'm just gonna say besides the cut scenes and making fun of the French (which is odd considering there your ally's) i was actually a lot more impressed by Cod3's campaign. Nothing extremely bad@$$ happens in Cod2 (sorry to say that but i have 1000/1000 in Cod2 so i think i have the right) Cod3 feels a lot more epic and there's a lot more destruction and the levels seem very epic.
I dunno Cod'3s campaign is a pain sometimes but i found it not only easier than Cod2 (thanks to no silly mortar/sniper sections) but i thought it was more fun as well. Cod3 is a lot of run and gun fun but there's also a lot of strategy in some very hard levels. Not that Cod2's bad i enjoyed the russian campaign but... Anyone can see the difference.
Look at the tank levels in Cod2 drab, dry and boring.... Look at the tank levels in Cod3, they were great and had a lot going on. Cod3 is not bad (maybe the cinemas) but i enjoyed it more than Cod2 (it also seems a lot longer than Cod2 but that could be the cutscenes).

Yep, but um I never said anything bad about 3, never hated it or said it sucked. Just hated some of aspects of it's SP scenes.
