I had the same thing hapen the other day, Then I saw how many people have had it hapen to them recently. I think Microsoft might have something to do with it.

Getting the same thing here. Happened last night 5/9 while watching a movie. I got a greenish tent to the video. Shut down the console and restarted. The audio sounded fine on start up, but there was no video. I was using a VGA cable at the time, but I've since tried several other cables...  none have worked. I'm not getting an E74 error, but I'm on an older refurbished machine, after my late one RROD. Not sure if this qualifies for the extended warrenty coverage.

  Well my 360 officially died Sunday - well, the video did, anyway.  this is my third console as my Launch and it's replacement after RRoD also had RRod - now this one with no video.

  This is indeed frustrating.  I'm going to call Gamestop and see what they will give me on treade in for my broken Xbox and get a NEW arcade version. 

  Is this Jasper chipset really a solution to some of these problems?

I'm getting ready to send it in, but it is frustrating as hell to know that so many people have had this issue...

Traded my busted 360 in at Gamestop yesterday - they gave me $36.90 towards my new Arcade (with the Jasper chipset).  I decided I'd rather spend a bit of extra money and have a barnd new machine vs. less money for a "repair" and receive a refurbished one.

I really feel your pain. Looking at your gamer score i asume you dont play that much.. And ironically when you do wanna play it breaks... Life is just plain rude! The JAsper doesnt eliminate RROD but it does decrease the chances of getting more regularly

  Well, I don't play the campaigns *at all* - I'm merely an online Team Slayer/Deathmatch junkie - which my husband and I play several nights a week together - keeps us out of trouble.  :O)  So - when it just died the other day - it was like having a limb sawed off!  Had to break down and play :::gasp::: split screen on my husband's 360/TV.   I felt quite abused. 

Hiya, Mine goes green and the graphics crash Matrix style. M$ first of all didn't want to know and wanted to charge me £90 to fix it - i am not getting rings or error messages either although it is the same thing that's wrong. Did you have any luck with M$ yourself? i am just going to ring them back up and tell them i am getting an E74 message and send it off (let them prove i am not getting messages). One conspiracy theory going round here is they have patched the 360's in one of the updates so that it DOESN'T shutdown / lock / RROD or E74 - it just carries on going even though its fragged. I have spoken to numerous people now with issues that used to trigger a RROD or error message that doesn't - if this is really the case its M$ way of dodging fixing them under its 3 year warranty (even though the fault might be exactly the same as the RROD, the fact ir doesn't actually do it means they don't have to touch it!) I will let you know how i get on - they have problems with the GPU's - they KNOW they have problems with the GPU's but they are trying very hard not to admit it! ROB DOGS!

ok so one night last week i was playing COD4 online and the colors started warping and changing colors a bit, i figured it was my TV because it was kinda old... so i didnt pay much attention because i restarted everything and then it was fine. But it started back up again a little ways after i played sum more. Then i shut it off to see if it would cool down or anything and then i tried it again in the morning just to see and it was fine for a little bit then warped and everything again so i tried fixing it with the jacks and everything and it didnt work but the screen went black and only showed the AUX for the TV and it made me think the cord gave out so i bought a new cord and it still didnt work then called up microsoft come to find out it needs to be sent in i guess and now i look on here seeing that soooo many people are having problems with this, i started thinking that software maintenance that shut down Xbox Live for the day might have had sumthing to do with it but idk so im thinking about just buying a used 360 off sumone because its cheaper then paying $100 to send it in............. anyone know any fixes for this without sending it in im sorry if sumone already posted sum but i really didnt want to look through all of the pages and i know about the towel thing but i thought that only aplied to the Red Ring of Death?....... ok i tried the towel trick and it worked, for about 2 minutes...... then the video cut out again lol so the towel thing does NOT WORK for this problem idk about the RROD tho so... =/

It sucks man, I had't played most of the school year and summer, because of school work and having no gold was depressing. I finally got gold like a week ago, and three days later, my screen goes black. Why, is there anything I can do, or should I just call xbox.

Microsoft was of no help to me in terms of covering it under warranty.  They sent me through all of the troubleshooting stuff again to no avail.  From what others were saying, repair was costly and I opted to just trade it in towards a new console.

If im lucky, I can play for about 15 min before the screen locks up and little multi colored squares flash across my TV.  I dont get any error message on the screen and none of the red light quadrents light up.  My warranty is out and since I dont have 3 red lights, I cant get the extended warranty.  After searching youtube I found a video that had the same problem as me and showed how to fix it.  It's the "ANA" chip.  Planning on repairing myself, wish me luck.

Dashboard started to become tinted a heavy yellow. Tried to restart the Xbox and now I get the no video with white dots and dashs. No red ring yet. This is the replacement I got when my old one went RRoD over a year ago. So should I just keep trying it til it goes RRoD?

Yes it does suck.

Mine did the same exact thing and then I got it to RRoD. I sent it in and got it back, and the damn thing still wouldnt display video. So I sat here with a crap Xbox for a while, finally got pissed looking at it and emailed Microsoft. They suggested setting up a repair...I was pissed, but tried it anyway, and it claimed my 360 was still in warranty somehow...so I just sent it in yesterday for my video issue. If they fix it, first thing I am doing is trading that S.O.B. in for some cash and then buying a new one.

Yes this is quite a mystique. I think microsoft pulled one on all of us..... This is a very big problem, I have told microsoft support that i REFUSE to pay for this disaster. They asked me to choose the e74 error and send it in. I told them no problem..... Why should i have to PAY $100 when i already paid WELL ENOUGH FOR THIS MACHINE.... THANKS Alot... I always talked bad about xbox.... Until i played one. Always been a big playstation fan.....But I promise if I get charged for this repair I will tell them to stuff it. Then i will get it back. Smash it into a million pieces send it back and tell them this " HERE REPAIR THIS PILE OF SH**." I mean thats what it is to me right now sitting in my corner next to the tv. And Afterwards I will purchase a PS3 or Wii and call it a day. I don't need microsofts dA*n frustration on my back.... Help us out microsoft.... Ever since the new update the other day i have had the same thing going on. It worked for about 2 or 3 hours then the colours started warping. I turned it off and back on then nothing. I'm really not happy with microsoft now ever since my second RROD.

same here, was a HUGE playstation fan, until i played a 360, fell in love and bought one had it for about a year and a half, got RROD and sent it in, wasnt a big hastle, no biggie now its been almost another year and i get this black screen sh** they expect me to pay $100 for? is it really just a loose clamp? i think i could fix that myself, but im NOT taking it apart if its more complicated than that dont wanna buy ps3 since the only game thats better on ps3 is madden cuz EA sports is a JOKE whenit comes to 360 soo frustrated right now, going back to college in a few weeks dont have time to **** around with microsoft right now

Same thing that has been reported happened to me. When I turn on the 360, the display is blank, but I can hear sound.

This has happened to me too.have never had my xbox connected to live so i know it isnt caused by any online upgrades.the image on my tv went green,then got the red ring.restarted my console and the ring was gone.it booted up fine and the game played thru the speakers but no video apart from the little floaty white dots.I like my xbox but there allways seems to be some issue with my or my friends 360's.Get your act together microsoft.WE BUY the console,WE STAY loyal to our 360's and lets get thanked for our efforts by microsoft by getting slapped with another chunk of money out of our pockets because of a fault that clearly lies with you THE MANUFACTURERS and not the customers.This problem is too widespread to be misuse or carelessness on our parts...Hold your hands up and do the right thing!!!!!.PS so to answer your question Yes there is a way to fix the problem.Send microsoft yet another check....

I got my 360 2 years ago in August and it's worked just fine... I was playing BF1943 last night and the picture started flickering, took on a posterized look with an exaggerated blue cast. I shut it down and restarted and it seemed ok until I jumped back into my party and it came right back. I played for a bit before shutting it down again... then went into Netflix, started watching something and it did the same, blue posterized cast. I switched the cable to the other component input on the TV, that did nothing. I cleared the cache and then restarted and then I got the black screen. Audio works, I can hear the dashboard sounds but no picture. I guess the video output on this thing has died.

Amazing how it's just over 2 years old and the thing craps out. Glad I got the 3 year service protection... guess I'll be calling for a coffin box. Thanks Microsoft. Thanks A LOT. Such quality in these boxes.

Hace just spent 4 hours of my life battling with microsoft to fix my 360 unit with the same problem.Due to the fact this is widespread and isnt due to unproper care or mishandling of your console.After these many hours of my life i shall never get back, the answer from microsoft is the same predictable answer it allways is.Send us a check for 70 pounds and we will fix the problem that only occured because we diddnt build the machine properly in the first place.CHEERS MICROSOFT....im gettin a ps3 im sick of this s*@t.....

I have just had this happen to me.
I was merrily playing COD WAW online when the colours went all funny, like setting your desktop colour resolution from millions of colours to 16.
I panicked and exited the game (was host too :P) and the problem was still there on the dash.
So it wasn't the game. I did have the game on HDD don't know if that is a common among all with a problem.
I turned it off, let it cool a little and turned it back on.
Woohoo fixed! hope that doesn't.....
Crap. ok, chill leave it till the morning.
Turn it on, left it at the dash whilst I got a cuppa upon return the colours were messed up again.
Turn it off, did the old Y and RT on restart trick, still messed up.
Restarted once more and this time nothing....
Checked with a mates setup, his cables, his tv, his works...mine doesn't.
It does all the usual flashes and swirls with the lights on startup and then just sits there with the controller light lit. Its on, as i can use the force (hold guide, up up A) to turn it off via the controller but I don't see a thing.

Should it be fixed if I send it for repair and will it cost me or will they do it out of the goodness of the *cough* hearts?
If not, how much? Anyone had this fixed? How long you have the console?

Just go to the support section and file for a repair... you can print the label out yourself or if you don't have access to a printer they'll send you a UPS shipping label, only takes a few days. They don't even bother sending coffin boxes anymore so you'll need to make sure you package it well. If you didn't buy a service plan the repair is going to cost you. $140 is the common cost floating around on the boards but you might want to call them to confirm. Mine is on its way to Texas for repair now. They say you should get it back 2-3 weeks from the date you ship it to them.

Think I am having the same issue. Was playing MW2 last night when the video went all messed up, like grainy, over saturation and flickering a lot. After I restarted the console I don't get any video signal at all

had the same thing happen to me last night was playing MWF 2 and went back to dashboard and display was all screewed up rebooted it and now i have black screen i wonder if it has anything to do with update preview i installed, well i called microsoft and its still under warr- so i have to send it out this suck probably wont get it back till xmas and i have left for dead 2 on pre order coming in also.
