kk, going try and do taht as well. Thanks again^^

When I call MS what kind of info do I need? Can I just give them my gamertag and let them get system info off that or what?:P

They'll want your serial number, your email address, your name, your phone number, your address.

Then they'll want you to repeat it about 50 more times over the course of a 30-40 minute call.

Sounds like that will be a fun call, lol.

Thanks for all the help info^__^

You guys/girls helped me out lot. :)

I just did that as well, my Xbox got the 3ROD (under the 3 year warranty).. UPS will charge you for boxing (Didnt have box or packing material) paid 16.00 but as to the actual shipping and return NO Charge.. They will send you tag through the email (good for 10 days). But remeber to remove the HD and stuff, I got a replacement console back :)
Too error is a computer, to really *** up takes a human.!

I just got the 3 red lights for my xbox and i'm looking to return it, but when i go to try and register it the same message saying "This console is already registered" pops up. I have no consoles resistered to my account and this is my first xbox, so I know I have not registered it before. Any one know why this is happening (also my xbox was bought 3 years ago from a store, not from a person or website like ebay)

Unfortunately, you're going to have to call support on this one I believe.

Stopped by the UPS store yesterday to mail my box but nothing on the repair site says anything about my console being shipped out. Is that something I need to worry about?

Use UPS trackign number at UPS.com for a much more accurate way of tracking.   XBox.com was very inaccurate and delayed when mine was in repair.  It didn't tell me it had shipped back until 2 days after it had been picked up from UPS.

So, to answer your question, no nothing to worry about.

usually the website will refresh within 24-48 hours... you can always check the status and xbox will be refreshing the status of your console

Mine is still sitting on the being repaired status since Thursday. Was hoping it would go out today. :( Since it was a E74. Thought it would be a pretty quick in and out deal.

I cannot check UPS.com since MS has yet to send me a tracking number. But, MS received it on 10-22-09 @7pm.

Ah yeah duh, I'm thinking of shipping it TO ms but that doesn't really apply since you've gotta get the number from MS for the return trip home.

If you haven't shipped it yet, you can put down your work address as the shipping address and then you don't have to worry about it.

If you're not home they'll put a note on your door notifying you that they've come by and you weren't home.  I think they attempt 3 times and then you'll have to pick it up at your local ups distribution center.

Pretty sure it's gotta be an actual UPS distribution center.  To be delivered to a mail store, you'd have to have that place down as the shipping address.  I'd guess you'll be able to call them and reschedule a delivery but they won't narrow down the time frame to less than a full day.

Here's what it says at UPS.com.   MS ships these with delivery signature required so it looks like if you have a neighbor they could drop it with then that's an option.

Have a Hassle-Free Delivery

When you track your shipment, you'll know the exact date to expect it. To receive your shipment on the first delivery attempt, choose from these options:

  • Leave a note for your driver asking him to leave your shipment in a safe designated place.
  • If a signature is required, have the shipment delivered to a neighbor who will be available.

When Your Driver Leaves a UPS InfoNotice

If your driver is unable to deliver the shipment, you'll receive a UPS InfoNotice®. The UPS InfoNotice lists important information, such as when your driver will try to redeliver or whether a signature is required.

The UPS InfoNotice number enables you to track your shipment, confirm delivery, reschedule the delivery date, arrange to pick up your shipment at a UPS Customer Center, have your shipment delivered to a different address, or return the shipment to the sender. Select the Tracking tab, enter your UPS InfoNotice number in the Tracking Numbers field and follow the instructions.

Note: UPS will return to shipper all Ground packages after the third delivery attempt, with the exception of packages where the shipper requested a delivery signature. All Signature Required, Adult Signature Required, Air, UPS 3 Day Select® and International packages will be held for five business days to give the customer time to make arrangements to receive their packages

N Dogg/Booya --- In the past for me UPS delivered things to the post office that I couldn't be around for.  I don't remember if it was signature required or not though.  I also know if definatly wasn't from M$.  Hope that helps.  There may even be an option on the door tag they leave for that.  Good luck though.

I am wondering this too. I just shipped mine out for an E74 error on 10/13/09

Well I just got my console back from the repair center. My original console came back to me. I don't know if the innards were changed or not. Only difference I see in the back is a service date of 10/18/09. But I am happy I got my own console back and not a refurbished one. It did come from the Texas repair center in Mesquite. There was no note saying what was fixed even though it was for a E74. In the box there were just letters on how to reconnect your controllers, some info on about dlc, and a letter saying it repaired my console according to my warranty with a 1 month free gold card taped to my console.

That's kind of odd.  Do you have a P.O. Box they were holding it with at USPS?   Pretty strange that USPS would take liability/responsibility for a shipment that they're not being paid for.  Are you in a small town where people go a bit outside the normal boundaries with everyone knowing each other?   Interested in how you made this happen.

Thanks for the update. I am hoping to get my same console back as well. If you take a flash light and look inside. If the copper pipe heatsink is missing from the gpu. You probably got updated parts inside. Let me know when you have some time if you don't mind looking. :)

Small town yes but not quite that small. And No P.O. box. It's possible that the package had a UPS tracking number and was shipped USPS. My wife has thing shipped like that all the time. So in that case it would be a totally different situation. It was a long time ago so I'm honestly not sure.

They got mine yesterday, it went into repairing console status and then today it's finished and I've already got the tracking number for it to come back to me. Which makes me a little wary. The manufacture date on my box was 08-2006. 2 Months over the 3 year RRoD warranty. Hope they aren't sending it back saying that the system is out of warranty. That would really suck for me. It's nice to see how inconsistent this whole this is. They had mine for 24 hours in repair status while some others it's been 3 days. Good luck guys. Hope the process speeds up for you.

Also looks like I just got the confirmation email that they are shipping it back. It's got a new serial number so it's most likely a refurb unit.
