One thing Cod2 had over Cod3 was cutscenes. Cod2's cut scenes were informative and educational.

Cod3's cutscenes weren't bad at first because they told a story but when you cant skip them it quickly gets old. Although i liked a lot of the Cod3 missions more... A lot more going on i thought.

Somehow I did the sniping at the end of The Silo stupidly easily. It literally only took me about 10 minutes to do it and I maybe died 4 or 5 times only. And I got at least 2 checkpoints while it was going.
After all the negative comments on here I'm relieved it was so easy but also a little disappointed that it wasn't more of a challenge.
Oh well, maybe Hill 400 will make up for it.

Hill 400 is easier thanks to cover and freedom of movement.
You wont be challenged by anything after the silo....

To be honest, I didn't feel that shooting the mortar teams was that hard. In fact, that only took me 15 minutes, 20 tops because I fell off the ladder. The hardest part was most definately taking each place, it probably took me a good half hour for each, if not more for the first and last.

You were right, Hill 400 wasn't particularly hard either. Certainly not what I was expecting after hearing so many people complaining about it.
So yesterday I started playing from near the end of The Silo. I'd already captured all the buildings apart from the German HQ. Seriously it only took me about 4 or 5 hours of playing to get from this point to beating the game.
I'm kinda disappointed that it wasn't harder. I found a couple of the British missions, the first D Day one and the final Russian one to all be considerably harder than this. Not a great ending for the game to be honest.

OMG this game is hard. I stopped playing it after the D-Day mission I must have played that beachhead level at least 2 days straight and when I finally got up the beach and into that damned tunnel these guys were wall to wall thick inside the bunker. I got so angry I stopped playing and started playing Geometry Wars. But now I want to play it again to get ready for the new CoD game. Ironic thing is I am missing only one achievement for CoD4. Which says to me CoD4 while a great game is nowhere near as hard as CoD2. If you agree let me know.

Well I thought both were pretty even when it came to playing them on Veteren difficulty but if I had to choose one over the other then yeah I'd say COD2 was the more difficult. 

It doesn't compare. You could finish cod 4 on vet in one day(excluding one shot one kill).

Well I'm only playing Hardened on COD4 and I still cannot get past the section where the snipers are waiting for evac.  The only time I remember being this stumped on a game was COD2 silo.

easy - hide behind the ferris wheel and snipe through the bumper cars, and you wont get shot. they will come after you back there, but the hardest thing you'll have to do is deal with the grenades they throw. most of them can be thrown back too.

on normal dificulty this took me few tries, just figuring out a good routine. on veteran i got the first try and it seemed mostly the same. and the end, keep moving and you'll make it. you'll get hit, but you'll make it.

Well that is a good idea and everything(good tip) but I thought that is was clear that every knew where to hide in this mission.

Just simply after you plant your c4/claymores, just go around the corner(where you find the intel) and sit in that corner for the duration of wating to be evacuated. You will not get caught or die once.

It's just making it to him that's hard.

That was a hard part but I didn't use the MG42.  I kept dieing that way.  The way I got around it was to just hang back and picked the guys off with my bolt action.

Well iam gonna have to say the worst part for me was on top of the Silo.I thought i was gonna have a nervous break down playing that part.You have to shoot fast and you have to make sure it only takes one hit kill in order to clear out the morder soliders.It took me 3 hrs just to do that part over and over again and again.And to top that off i get to the 2 min count down and it does a check point and 1 sec later i get killed lol.So now everytime i start i get killed.So i had to restart so that wouldnt happen.But i still have a few more missions to go threw before the game is done.Si iam sure i will be back to cry about something else lol.I must say thow i am loving this game.

I still have nightmares about being on top of that Silo.  I think that mission will stick in my memory longer than any other I've ever played;  killing General Raam in GOW is a close second, but "The Silo" is burned in the deepest!

Hill 400 by far... And the VERY first Russian level, It takes a while to adjust your play style to the difficulty, and I ded probably 100 times that first level.

I may take 48 hours to respond to questions because I'm swamped with University-related work.

I beat it a while back with no sweat. Well not too much anyway. CoD3 seemed harder and I didn't finish that.  I just got tired of CoD3 since it sucks so hard anyway and wasn't worth any frustration.

 

CoD2 was worth it and was a blast when it came out. It wasnt too much trouble beating it on Veteran, a couple spots pissed me off a bit though.
