Hello death unites,

Calling a Support line doesn't mean you'll be throwing away your 2 x $70.00, hopefully they'll be able to advise you on a solution or trouble shooting tips.  Let's put it this way, calling them couldn't hurt and worst case you'll be in the same situation you're in now.

Are the mics new (recently bought)?  If so, you could also try returning them to the store you bought them from siting them as defective.

I can't think of much else to try.

Dude. I would not chance sending it in. Even if you called them and asked if they had any on hand.. It's a limited console so chances are (Murphy's Law) you will enver see your console again. I always get people on the phone who don't even know what a Z (zed) is. My email address has two Z's and my gamertag has one. You can imagine my frustration.

What I'm getting at is if these people don't even know what the last letter of the alphabet is, don't trust them to do everyone 100% correct with your expensive, limited console. Take it to a repair shop that fixes Xbox's, or else pay MS to do it. It's the only way you'll get it back 100% guaranteed.

Sometimes in life you have to cut your losses though. Buying a wireless mic was a mistake on your part. It wasn't your fault. In my life, I've learned never to trust anything wireless. Such as internet, or in this case, a wireless mic.

If you send it in, it's highly likely that you'll get a replacement console and not the one you send in, but in theory, it should also be the same kind of limited edition.

They probably know it as "zee."  Not every country pronounces Z as "zed," and the English speaking call centres for Xbox Support are not located in Canada.

I know. But every other country in the world knows what it is. It's just frustrating to me that people move there from other countries and then learn American, not English.

It's funny hearing them say "How do you spell that?" after I say "zed zed".

Edit: I have gotten a guy from Canada once. He was from Newfoundland and we had a great conversation. The only other time I had a good talk with one of the people there was this girl from Texas who spoke English fluently. We probably talked for an hour or so since there were only 3 people working at that call center and it was slow. And they were taking 9 trying to get all the problems I had dealt with haha.

Canadian Repair Center Praise!

Oct. 14 - Xbox starts acting funny.  Freezing more than once in a 2 hour gaming session.
Oct. 16 - Xbox dies.  3 RROD.  Console was year and a half old.
Oct. 19 - Use old coffin to pack up dead Xbox after registering for the repair and receiving my UPS labels in my email.
Oct. 21 - Xbox arrives at repair center in Toronto.
Oct. 23 - Refurbished console shipped back to me.
Oct. 26 - Patiently waiting for Purolator to arrive *hopefully* tomorrow morning.  Console is still in Toronto but it is on its way.

Except for my bad luck with dealing with 2 weekends during the death/shipping process, I'm very pleased at the speed of our repair center!  My refurb better last longer than my last one (5 months) or I'll shake my fist at you even HARDER!  :)

If you're near a major center, you're naturally going to get it back faster than if you're out in the sticks in the middle of Saskatchewan somewhere. The average speed of the Canadian repair center disgusts me. And the fact that half the time they can't even fix your products even though it was a faulty manufacturing error that broke it is even worse.

The Canadian service center does not do any console repairs. They are strictly an exchange center. They ship all the consoles they recieve to the Service Center in Texas to get repaired and they shipped a bunch back to Don Mills.

Yes, you can contact the Better Business Bureau, or email them.  You can site Microsoft Canada, Xbox Division as the place you're filing the complaint again.

Outline the situation in point form, more or less like you did above (though I'd format it more professionally and take out the exclamations and such), and make sure to include your name, address, contact number, and service reference number.

They'll then get in touch with Microsoft and try to sort the issue for you.  It will take a few weeks to get any results though, but it's the best option I can think of for you.

Best of luck!

Hello, ok the controller with my 360 i bought seems to be defective, It always disconnects and i kept on reconnecting it several times, I've tried many things like switching batteries not once but twice and even tried my plug in and play connector. So, I guess I could call and send it in?

How long ago did you buy your Xbox 360?  If not too long, contact the store and you might be able to do an exchange.  Could be faster.

I just purchased it for $329.99 this september, but I dont know what i did with the receipt I hope I put it into the box it came in with, i'll have to check. It was the amazing value bundle xbox elite which included the wireless adapter and halo3. It wasnt until a couple of days later I found out the xbox I had purchased at wal-mart had been manufactured in september 08, 2008! So it was over a year old when I got it, but the wireless adapter makes up for it I guess. Thanks for the suggestion Juxtapose13, now I have to hunt down my receipt.

Once you find that receipt, keep it for 3 years, the duration of your general hardware failure warranty.

If Xbox Support ever asks for proof of purchase and you don't have a receipt, you're out of luck.

i live in toronto and the closest repair center is in don mills which is where my xbox got sent. it doesn't even leave the city and i've been waiting for a week. turns out that even though the site says that my xbox has been fixed and shipped back to me, its hasnt. it's sitting in a warehouse waiting for the truck that it's in to be filled up. nice way of satisfying the customer. make them wait when they should have it back already.

Possible and accurate.  Consoles are _not_ repaired in Canada.  Only replacement units are given.

Hello bardnon,

You'll only need the receipt if they ask for one as proof of purchase, and since your Xbox 360 console is less than three years old, they likely will not do so.

Contact 1-800-4MY-XBOX to set up a service order for your console.  You should be fine.

Good luck!

My second Xbox 360 died. Nov. 6/09 - Xbox got the One Red Ring and the E74 message. Tried making a repair order online... didn't work. Called Xbox and set up a repair order, box for shipping being sent to me. Nov 13/09 - Still no box from UPS/Purolator, phoned Xbox for inquiry. They cancelled my first repair order, made me a second and emailed me a shipping label. Nov 16/09 - Got the Xbox onto the Purolator truck. It's already been two weeks and they haven't even gotten my xbox for repair, either because they screwed up or UPS sucks. Either way, I'm not praising Xbox until I get mine back in a timely fashion. I (like many others) have spent literally thousands on my xbox(s) and I don't really feel like they care about my business. I hope I'm wrong and I get my Xbox back soon. Have a great day Gamers.

Re: Canadian Repair Center Praise!

My E 74 story:

Nov 7 get one red rod with E74 error

Nov8   1st call xbox support – csr gives me a reference number and tells me they will email me a shipping label and I can also print it off their website.  I’m not able to print it off the website and no email ever arrives.

Nov 9   2nd call xbox support – csr says that Canadians can’t print off labels from their website and since I didn’t receive an email  from them, they would ship the label in 3 to 5 business days.  New work order set up, new reference number given.

Nov 10   I pick up my pre ordered copy of COD MW2

Nov 13   I go to UPS store to pick up a box to ship xbox, still no label yet, but I’m trying to be prepared to get things done ASAP.  The UPS lady is like, you haven’t received your label yet??  You should call them.

Nov 14   3rd Call.  I take UPS lady’s advice and call xbox support.  They say they can’t track where the label is.  I get 2 options from the CSR:

  1. Wait until Nov 17th, and if the label hasn’t arrived, call back (a full 10 days with a broken xbox sitting in my living room).
  2. She can email one and I can print it off the website.  I tell her I’ve been told that Canadians can’t do that.  She says that has been fixed and they can now.  She cancels previous work order and starts a new one (the third one now).  States I will be receiving the shipping label by email that day or I can print it off the website almost immediately.  I very quickly receive an email telling me how to package the xbox, but no shipping label arrives.  I can’t print it off the website either, says courier has received the request, but unable to print labels.

Nov 14   4th call and second  today approx 8 hours later.  I tell the CSR I cant print shipping labels.  After confirming all my personal info and address, email etc, which I have had to do with every phone call I might add, he tries to walk me through printing the label.  Even he cant print them when he tries.  After a long time on hold, he states something is wrong, cant print the label off the website (well, duh!!) and I need to wait at least 24 hours from my 3rd call earlier in the morning for the email to arrive with the shipping labels.

Nov 15th   5th call to xbox support.  It’s been well over 24 hours and still no email with shipping labels.  I spend about 45 mins on the phone with the CSR and eventually find out that they can’t email me shipping labels and I can’t print them off the website (hmm, heard this before).  He starts a new work order with a new reference number, now the 4th one.  He says they will ship the labels and a box!! within 3 to 5 business days.

Nov 19th  I still sit waiting by the window in my rocking chair for my shipping labels and box.  It requires a signature, so I have been home all week.  Every vehicle that drives down the street makes me jump out of my chair thinking, finally, my shipping label and box are here only to be disappointed to see my elderly neighbour driving home from her tennis lesson.  I’m running low on food and other necessities of life, but heaven forbid I go out and miss the UPS delivery for my label and box.  I keep dreaming of the day when my label arrives and wondering to myself whether I will feel like Charlie when he unwrapped that chocolate bar to find the golden ticket.

Yes, 12 days after my xbox E74’s and it still sits in my living room beside the unopened Modern Warfare game.

I wait for a label.  A label.  One simple label.  We talking about a label.  Not a technician, not a technician to come to my house and fix my xbox.  A label.  A 5 by 6 inch piece of paper.  A label.  Not a technician, no,no,  not a technician, a label.  A label.  One simple label.  We are we talking about here?  We are talking about a LABEL!  A LABEL!!!  We ain't talking bout a technician, we talking about a label.  It's funny to me to, it's strange.  We sittin here talking bout a label.  A LABEL.  (if this doesn’t make sense to you, utube allan Iverson + practice).

Thanks for reading.

forgive me KD, cause I didn't read the whole thing, but phone them again.

For me they screwed up the spelling of the email address (I found out later) so they sent along a box.  That was over a year ago tho, so it might be different now.

Yeah, I was a bit wordy, but I was just blowing off steam.

I've phoned them 5 times already and each time I have gone through all of my personal information and they have it correct.  I will wait 2 more days before I phone them again.
