Subject: Hosting Etiquette 101

Ok I am sure this thread has been done before, but here it is again for the newbies.

Disclaimer: I am in no way shape or form TELLING people how to behave. All advice given comes from being a dedicated GR Host since the day the game was released for Xbox Live! Take it or leave it, but if you take it you might not get booted as much as you have been.

1. When you first join a server ask if you can stay or not. Remember just because its an open/public server does not mean that the host HAS to give you the spot. He/she may be trying to get certain people in who are not on his Friends List, or they may be trying to prepare for a clan match. Also it might be that the host has reached his limit of players that he/she can hold. If the host says no, do not be a child. Accept it graciously, as a host if for some reason I cant fit someone in on my server, so long as they are graciouse about it, I will often send them a Friends Invite, and when a spot opens up try to get them in.

2. Always check the server settings when you are allowed to stay on a server. If you do not like the settings, either stick it out or leave. But do not tell the Host to change them. If you know the host ( after being on his server a few times ) it is usually ok to request a change, but if its your first time and noone knows you you will prolly be told that this is what the settings are, if you do not like it you are free to leave. Some host will put it to a vote ( this is what I do ) and will ask all players in the lobby to "uncheck" in other words ask you to unready if you have readied up. Then the host will ask you to ready up if you want to play "such and such" the majority rules.

3. Always ask what the rules are. As an example some host will have no kit restrictions, but ask that players only bring hand held explosives, no luanchables ( Rocket Launchers, OICW`s ect. ). Follow these rules, if you do not like them, leave. Do not complain and whine about it, the host has come to these rules for whatever reasons, it is thier server, respect that.

4. Never join a server and go on observer right away, this will get you booted. If its a team game and there are already 12 people on the server, do not ask if its full, unless you can not count. Just leave and find a new game. Again, do not go observer if you see there are 12 players, most host will not allow this. Why? Because someone on observer takes up as much bandwidth as someone playing.

5. Do not trash talk, swear excessivly, or be rude. I will boot someone who is biligerant to anyone on my server, as will most host. This is differnt if you are a regular and are messing around with other regulars, but if you are new to a server chill.

6. If there are girls on the server, keep it in your pants. crude comments, or saying things like "girls cant play, they are nade ***", ect. will get booted so fast you end up in next sunday. We are all here to play and have fun, respect your fellow players, regardless of ***, race, or religion. The flip side is the same, noone really wants to here someoen preach about thier god, or listen to the girl gamers go off about how men are dogs who need to be trained.

7. For the love of god, do not play your crappy music through your headset! I have a sound system of my own that gives me much better quality thank you very much.

8. If while playing you see a sensor and wish to shoot it, do us all a favor and do it on single shot. Why is this? Because shooting sensors on full auto can more often then not lock up a server.

9. When playing games with respawns ask if spawn killing/raping is allowed. I am not starting a debate here on this subject, some server allow it, some dont. So just ask.

10. Do not, I repeat DO NOT send out any invites on a server unless you have asked the host. If the host says its ok, send the invite but cancel if the person you are inviting has not accepted the invite after about 30 second to a minute. Why is this? Because invites take up a slot in the lobby as if they were a player. Nothing is more frustrating then having 11 players and not being able to fill the last spot because someone has an invite out. If you have sent out an invite and the person accepted, but for later it will hold a spot for him. Again this is a problem when trying to fill up a room. If you have sent one out and this is the case, please, leave the room and join back up. This free`s up the slot you had reserved with your invite and saves the host a huge head ache. If you do not what will most likely happen is the host will shut down the current server and start a new one.

11. Please do not use a voice mask, they only serve to annoy people and make what you are saying hard to understand.

12. Be a gracious winner and loser, we all win, we all lose, dont be a **** about it.

13. Do not scream into the mic. It hurts our ears. SOmetimes the voice messes up and noone can hear what you are saying. This will clear up when you die, or when someoen else dies (usually) yelling into the mic "HEY! CAN YOU GUYS HEAR ME!" will do you no good, and if the voice cuts back on suddenly, you will have a room full of angry players.

14. If you accidently TK someone apologize for it, if you do it again chances are it wasnt an accident and you will be kicked. ( Unless its just a bunch of regs and you are all messing around )

15. Finally, and this is just to repeat something said earlier, be respectful. Do not think you can sit there and insult people and be an idiot without anyone knowing who is saying it. When you talk the host can easily check to see who is talking, and he/she will boot you.

This is long, and I am sure I have missed some things, but its a good base to start with. As I said I am not telling people how to play, but I am a dedicated host in GR ( and will be in IT, and RS3) and these are teh things that will get you booted on my server, and on alot of others.

Subject: Hijacking a Room

PLayers will sometimes come into a hosts room and steal players from that room to go to another one. Please don't do this as it is difficult enough to fill a room. There are exceptions to this as clan members being pulled from the room for a clan match that they were unaware of.

Subject: Hosting 101 (cont)

uh oh, prepare yourself for a host lesson... 101. If there's one thing to learn about this game, it's not to tell the host how to run his/her room. I'm one of the unlucky ones that can't get enough upload speed (for less than $100) to be able to host, so here's a relatively quick lesson.

It's the hosts room, so don't start barking orders (ie.; where's the respawns?; that map sucks; hurry up and ready up!; I could go on, but I hope you get the picture). If they ask for map suggestions, then you can put in your .02.

When a host bumps up his server, it's usually to get people they want in. If someone has an invite out, that spot is taken up, so he will have to bump up the number of players to open the room a little... it doesn't mean he/she can host 12.

It's the hosts room, so if he/she wants to be an ****, it's up to them... they can boot who they want, for no reason at all sometimes. Usually a good host will ask politely, but anyone can run out of patience once and a while (like this post).

Fill your F/L with people you enjoy playing with, and your problems will soon be solved. Just remember, when you enter a room you've never played in b4, check your attitude at the door.

Subject: Glitches Explained

Glicthing is considered a form of cheating. With 3 dimensional object in play, there are methods of manipulating them to acquire a superior position over the opposition... for example, most people know that Island has a rock in it that you can crawl into and shoot the opps... however, this is considered bad behavior and just speaking of it can get you cleared out of some rooms forever.

There are 3 types of glitches in GR/GRIT.
1. Slant Glitches (not a very big issue compared the the one mentioned above).
2. Corner Glitches (A little more important and easier to commit by accident).
2. Object glitches (Big issue if you use them).

Slant glitch is where you are on an incline/decline and shooting at your target as you are slightly above the line of horizon. This is an issue because to the opponent, you will appear to have head, shoulders, elbows visible and your gun will appear to be aiming for the sky. You will not know that you are actually doing it so it is not easy for you to tell. The opponents however, upon seeing you, will attempt to shoot you and will not get a hit at all... this is because, what they are actually seeing is not really you but a distorted display of where you are. Some people believe that if you are in a location where you can be gotten at from other locations than where they are, then you are not glitching in this position.

Solution: When on an incline/decline, get into the crouching position (DO NOT GET ON YOUR BELLY). This way, the target will see your actual representation of just your head.

Corner glitch is where you are shoting from a corner and your gun goes through the corners wall. This one is easy to do by mistake and the most used glitch. I didn't understand it until one day a group fo 12 of us went into a room to see a demonstartion. Picture in your mind the corner. Now picture that we take a gun and shove it right through like sticking a needle through the corner of a cardboard box. Notice how the needle sticks through to the other side of the box on the outside... this makes the point of your gun in a valid firing location therefore you do not see shots firing on the wall or shots being deflected. However, the target will see (at least) your gun sticking out through the wall, leaving no target for them to shoot at. Sometimes the target will see the gun plus a part of your head sticking out on the side of the wall.

Solution: To prevent a corner glitch, step a couple of feet away from the wall and then use peek technique to obtain your target. Because your gun is away from the wall, you will not have your gun going through the wall.

On of the first things I saw people doing when GRIT came out was to explore the maps to find objects that they could use for object glitching.

Object glitching is a difficult one to explain. Imagine that every object on the screen has the ability to be an obstruction of line of fire. In order to do this, these object have to take on a solid like characteristic. So for example, a large boulder can be shot at, but not through. The creation of 3-D objects has left somewhat of a gap in the objects (a point in the object where another object could obtain that space). These gaps can be utilized to allow you to become a part of the objects rendering location. So, a person could manipulate their way inside the boulder and be able to see all objects around the outside of the boulder (including targets). Now imagine that the target outside the boudler coudl shoot at the boulder and the shot is deflected (according to the rules laid out for that object), but the person inside the boulder can shoot outside of the boulder at the target because there is no rule created for the object that says anything about shts fired from inside the boulder.

Solution: Identify anyone who uses object glitches to everyone you know. Pretty soon there won't be a room in XBL that will play with them. Another idea would be to avoid attempting any actions on objects in the maps except for those designated as targets.

Imagine a piece of candy with a paper wrapper around it... that is how 3-D objects are in this world. The developers create a frame that makes the shape of the candy (Object) then they wrap an image around the object (candy). No imagine that you have the ability to sqweeze into the space between the two wrapper openings... now you are inside the object (you are the candy if you will). Now the targets can shoot at the wrapper but the rules of the game says that if wrapper gets shot, the shot will deflect and go elsewhere. But if you are inside there wrapper and shoot out, there are no rules for what is to become of the bullet, so it follows the rules of the bullet and continues on it's path to the target.

Another note of solution for object glitches:
MOST of these positions are still vulnerable to explosive devices... grenades, claymores... rockets.... etc...

One last thing... just as there is no perfect human being in the world, there is also no perfect game in the world... choose the lesser of the evils and enjoy your game. Last of all, you have to rely on everyone you game with to uphold and respect what ever gaming rules that a game room host sets up. For example, in most of the rooms I play in, there are no slant glitches aloud. You must take a knee. If you are caught on a slant and prone, then you will get a warning. If you are caught doing it again, the game room host will kick you from the game.

Subject: Spawn Camping

I used to think that spawn killing was for whimps and that it was a cheasy way to play, but I have been on an exploration lately to find new avenues of this game and I studied the art of spawn killing to see what it was comprised of... here is what I have learned...

In order to spawn kill you must be able to successfully complete the following:
1. seek out the opposing teams base without getting killed.
2. Seek out a good defensive location at opposing teams base to take your stance, without getting killed.
3. Begin eliminating those who respawn (when they do respawn that is... the wait can last a whole game).
4. While eliminating the opposing team DON'T GET KILLED.
5. If the opposing team should mange to take you out... repeat the above steps.

Now here is the processes that non=spawn killers must go through...
1. seek out the opposing team without being killed.
2. If opposing team should kill you respawn and repeat the above steps.

Yes, after understanding this, I learned to understand just how complex it is to spawn camp... I may do it once in a while (more so lately than in the past), but my hat is off to those who can successfully spawn camp for a long term. I do still get angry about being spawn camped, but I have learned a great deal about it now and I have more respect for how difficult it can be to do it...

One last note:
If you don't like spawn camping even after this informational... DON'T PLAY IN ROOM'S WHERE INFINIT RE-SPAWNS ARE ALLOUD.

Oh, yeah... and thank you spawn campers for making me a better player...

Subject: Clan Etiquette

Non-Clan Memebers (you unless you have recently joined a clan):

There are a few things that we need to cover so that when you encounter clan members you and they do not get offended.
1. When a clan member enters your room and asks "Does anyone here want to have a clan match?" If you don't, then stay quiet for those who might...
2. If no one is interested, inform them that no one seems to be interesed. Ask them to leave politely after they get a silent response.
3. Give them a few seconds to go through their menu to make the exit. They didn't come in your room to get on your nerves, they just wanted to establish a game for their teammates.
4. When entering a room that has clan members in it, you may get "Sorry fella, you have to leave, this is a clan event". If you do, thank them for their time and leave. There is no need to be a jerk about it. They have chosen to use a room that clan members only are in so that you can find a better room without having to hear their clan business... you should be thankful.

Clan Members:
There are a few things that non-clan members get irritated about... for example interrupting their game and aksing if anyone wants a clan match, then hanging around and cursing at them because they said "NO". Try these steps:
1. When entering a room and requesting a clan match, keep it short, polite and to the point... "Excuse the interruption, but I would like to ask if anyone wants a clan match?" If there is no answer in about 3 to 5 seconds, thank the host for their time and get out of there.
2. If you want to have a conversation with a clan mate or clan member of another team, ask them to join you in a small room or a private room. Tell them you would like to discuss clan things with them. NEVER, discuss clan events in an open room. You may give away clan information to other team members and because it is rude to those who just come in to have some fun. Respect those who want to hold a normal game.

Press and hold the White button if you want to talk to someone. Release it when you are done. This is being posted, because no one reads the manual.

Subject: Playing Ghost Recon but no one is online:

Ghost Recon (GR for short) is the orginal game. Most of the players have moved up to playing Ghost Recon:Island Thunder (GRIT for short), but we still enjoy a good clasical game of GR. Here is a check off list for what you will want to have in order to join with the others:
1. Ghost Recon (because the old game is just as cool as the current game)
2. Ghost Recon Island Thunder (Because nothing in X-Box compares {yet}).
3. If you are getting this set before Rainbow6 v3 has been released, you want to pre-order
the Rainbow 6 v3 and request the demo disk with it (or borrow it from a friend or check
the forum for those who may have a version of it for you). Problem here is that you cannot
enter someone's room and play with them unless you have the same maps, most of the
players here have these maps.
4. Get all the DLC (Down Loadable Content) from X-Box Live (any maps your are missing).

Now you should be able to go online and join rooms for gaming.

Subject: Training on Ghost Recon

Before you chose to play Ghost Recon/Ghost Recon: Island Thunder on Live, you should run through the training program. You may even want to play the old Ghost Recon and go through the 50 tasks in the Dossier. This is how most of the players got to learn Ghost Recon. By doing this, they learned the maps and how to use the equipment.

Airfield

Airfield is the first mission that you will be playing with Ghost Recon 2.  It is also one that can get you used to the controls of the game pretty quick.

The mission itself begins with you making your way onto the airfield to help out British soldiers that are requesting aid.  The first objective you get in the mission is to take out a machine gun nest.  This will be assigned as soon as you cross the gates into the airfield.  As soon as you enter through the gates, you will notice some trucks to the right.  Hug them and then use them for cover to move closer to the machine gun nests or snipe out the enemies in the nests.  I actually prefer to snipe them out.  Your squad mates will generally give you some support fire for this as well and will probably take out a few of the enemies for you.  Once you have the machine gun nests cleaned out, move up to them and then either man a gun yourself and have one of your squad mates man the other or assign your squad mates to them as the next objective is about to come to you.

Once the machine gun nest has been dealt with, your next objective is to take out a helicopter that is about to fly in and start attacking you.  There are several ways to deal with this, but the one that works best is when it appears have whoever is manning the machine guns attack it.  They will bring it down quickly and you can get ready for the next objective.  Note that while the helicopter is being dealt with, enemies will be coming up on you from the east.  You will generally do a better job of suppressing them than the AI is, so it is generally best if you let your squad mates man the machine guns while you cover them.

After you have dealt with the helicopter, you will then be instructed to take the enemy HQ.  This means that you will have to move to the east to start towards this objective.  As you move, move slowly and scope out the area in front of you and pick off enemies as you can.  You will also be given other objectives on the way to taking the enemy HQ.

The first objective you will be given along the way to taking the enemy HQ is to eliminate a group of snipers in the air control tower.  If you have taken a sniper rifle, you can actually eliminate them from a distance then move closer to finish the objective by blowing up air control tower.  If you don’t have a sniper rifle, then zoom in with whatever rifle you have taken.  I recommend this approach as the snipers can prove fatal to you or several of your squad mates if you are not careful.  Once you have dealt with the snipers, you will need to destroy the gas tank beside of the tower to bring it down.  You can do this with either a shot from your bazooka or through weapons fire.  If you are using a SAW or other machine gun, this is recommended to bring it down as it will not take much ammunition to blow it up.   After it is destroyed, more enemies will charge you, so be ready for them and be behind some cover.

After the air tower is eliminated, you will be told to secure the area around the air tower.  You can do this by simply eliminating the charging enemies mentioned above and moving forward.  Once you have moved up far enough, you will be attacked by another helicopter.  This time though, you will have to deal with it with either a bazooka shot or have a squad mate bring it down with one.  Using the squad mate is recommended again as you will also have enemies that will be coming down the ramp in front of you to deal with, and as mentioned earlier, you can provide much better cover fire than the friendly AI can.  Once the helicopter has been dealt with, move forward and up the ramp towards the enemy HQ.  Move slowly though and as you move be ready for enemies as they will charge you while you are going up the ramp.

Once you are up the ramp, you will need to make your way through a short distance of rubble, be ready for enemies along this way.  Once you see some openings, use your rifle to zoom in and take a look around, chances are you will be able to pick off some enemies at a distance.  Keep moving slowly forward using cover as much as possible.  The enemy HQ is to your north and is composed primarily of more machine gun nests.  Take them out as quickly as possible as they can do a lot of damage to you.  Once you have killed everyone in the machine gun nests, a new objective will be given to you in the form of advancing troops from the east.  They will be coming in through an open gate in a truck with a few following behind the truck.  The best way to deal with this is a single shot to the truck with a bazooka shot.  If you do not take the truck out that way, there will be more enemies that get out of it.  After the truck has been dealt with, clean up the last few men coming in behind it and move up to the enemy HQ as that objective will not be complete till you have done so.

Once you have done this, your final objective will be to destroy some enemy jumpjets located out on the airfield.  To do this move to the south down the ramp there and then move west through the hangar.  Be careful along the way as there are enemies here, especially strong in the hangar itself.  Take them out and then move through the hangar.  Once you have made it through the hangar, simply destroy the enemy vehicle between the two jumpjets to complete the objective and the mission.  You will need to either do this with a bazooka shot from yourself or have one of your squad mates do it.

Pagoda

The next mission is entitled Pagoda and is one that will begin to test you a little more than the Airfield did.  In it, you are to demo a bridge to keep North Korean armor from advancing to attack friendly forces then meet up with British soldiers for extraction at a pagoda on the far side of an enemy village you must go through.

You are dropped off near a stream with it raining.  The first point is to cross the stream and work your way down on the far side slowly watching for enemy troops.  The reason I recommend working from the far side of the stream is because you will find it easier to spot the enemy generally this way.  As you round a bend in the stream, be ready because the bridge will be in sight and you will have more enemy activity here.  Be sure to look along the top of the bridge as there are enemy snipers there that can do a lot of damage to you if you don’t take them out quickly.  Once you have eliminated the enemy, move forward and bomb the bridge by placing your satchel charge at the base of it.  Once this has been done, move forward and the satchel will explode.

After you have bombed the bridge, you will then be given the objective to link up with British troops.  To do this, simply follow the stream up and move through the village it leads to.  Watch for enemy troops along the way to the village.  As you get to the village, you will encounter more enemy resistance.  The village has two entrances to it, one on both sides of the stream.  I generally use the southeast entrance as I can still cover both sides of the stream with ease and there seem to be better cover on this side of the village.  Be sure to look over across the stream to the northeast side as there are enemies there.  After you have entered into the village, you will hear a helicopter approaching and with it will come enemy reinforcements.  They land on the northeast side of the stream behind some buildings.  As you make your way through the village, you will come to an arching bridge that is across the stream.  There will generally be some enemies that will charge you over the bridge, take them out quickly and then when there is a break in their charge, lob some grenades over the arch of the bridge, you will generally take out several more enemies this way.  Carefully cross the bridge as there are places for the enemy to ambush you right on the far side of the bridge, both to the north and the south.  At this point I usually head to the south and then take the stairs there up to a courtyard where you will see more enemies, as well as openings where more enemies will come at you from.

As you move into the courtyard, be ready for enemies coming in from both entrances that are to the south and the north in the courtyard.  After you have cleared out the courtyard, I recommend moving in one direction and clearing it out, but not entering the pagoda entrance, then doubling back and clearing out the opposite side before finally making your way up to the pagoda.

When you arrive in the pagoda, a new objective will be given to you to hold the pagoda against attacking forces.  You’ll also notice that there are several ammo boxes here that you may want to use to refresh your ammo supplies.  Once you are once again full up on ammo, move into the center building in the pagoda and watch for the enemies that will come at you from the east.  There may be some that will come at you from behind, and they can easily be dealt with, but the largest charge will be from the east.  The enemies will charge in waves and you will need to eliminate them as they come.  After a few minutes you will get a new objective to move to the extraction chopper.  When this comes you will need to move as quickly as you can to the extraction point as mortars start attacking you.  As you move towards the chopper, take out any enemies you encounter along the way.  When you get to the helicopter and the all of your squad mates are there, the objective and the mission are complete.

Ambush

Ambush is the third mission in the GR2 campaign and is the first to let you use your night vision goggles for it.  The mission is to ambush and take out a convoy of North Korean armor at night.  You will need to move to the northwest to complete the first objective, which is an assault on the convoy after they have triggered some mines that have already been planted.

Make your way slowly to the northwest, being sure to zoom in with your rifle and check for enemies and eliminate them from a distance whenever possible.  The convoy consists of three armored units and one truck, as well as infantry.  The best way to complete the objective is stay elevated and take out the armor as fast as you can, with either you attacking it or having your squad mates attack it while you give cover fire.   If you elect to give the cover fire, be sure to try to snipe out the captains of the tanks that are setting up top operating the machine guns, this will eliminate some of the tank’s firepower as well as making it easier to get in a quick shot with a bazooka to finish the tank off.  Mop up the infantry and the truck to complete the objective.

Once you have completed the convoy objective, your new objective will be to take out an enemy platoon to the northeast of your current position.   Carefully move along in that direction, being sure to scope in front of you and taking out as many enemies as you can from a distance.   Be sure to use the terrain to your advantage and if possible, eliminate the enemies from a distance.  After you have completed this objective, you will be given another objective of eliminating another platoon to the northwest of your current position.

As before, move slowly into this firefight, using zooming and distance to take out the enemies if possible.  Use the terrain to your advantage as much as possible as well, trying to keep cover between you and the enemy as much as possible.  After you have destroyed this platoon, you will be given your next objective of destroying an enemy infantry unit to the northeast of your current position.

Move to the northeast, again, taking the enemy out from a distance if possible.  As with the other objectives in this mission, try to keep as much cover between you and the enemy as possible, eliminating them from a distance and as quickly as possible.  When you have taken out the last infantryman here, you will be given a new objective.

The final objective of the mission is to take out a helicopter that will attack your current position.  Either take it out yourself or have one of your squad-mates take it out.  After this, the mission is complete.

Destroyed City

This mission lets you use the Lone Wolf equipment.  This is actually one of the best and most unique missions of the campaign.

The mission begins with you be given the mission of destroying armor in the city using the laser targeting capabilities of the M29.  This mission is more stealth than anything, so be sure to conserve ammo and use stealth as much as possible.  If you are able to use stealth and there are enemy infantry near the armor, they will be taken out along with the armor once you have called in the air strike on the armor.

When the mission starts, you will have a few enemies to dispose of as you enter into the city.  Take care of them and then move on down, taking your time to advance.  As you move to the first corner, beware as there are usually a few enemy troops here that will attack.  Use the cover available and neutralize them then begin advancing further into the city.  As you move forward, you will be given your first objective, to neutralize an enemy tank to the northwest.

You should be approaching another corner at this time.  At this corner drop to the prone position and carefully move forward.  Immediately around the corner is a small hill, move slowly up it until you are near the top then use your M29 to peek over the top and target the tank below you.  If you do this without the infantry seeing you, you should be able to eliminate the tank and the infantry with the air strike.  If there are infantrymen left, take them out as quickly as possible, then begin to move further into the city.

As you move forward there will be a sniper high in a bombed out building in front of you.  Be sure to take him out fast as he can bring you down very quickly.  It is also at this time that you will be given your next objective, which is to take out two more tanks in a courtyard to your northeast.  Move slowly up along the street till you can peek around a corner with your M29 and you should see an enemy APC.  Paint it with for the air strike and then slip back around the corner in case the infantry there sees you.  The air strike usually does leave a few infantry behind for you to deal with.  Take care of them fast and then wait for the signal that you are ready for another air strike.

Slowly make your way up the left side of the street till you are just in front of the courtyard.  You will notice that there is a path that leads off of it before you reach the courtyard.  Take this path as you will then be able to see out over the courtyard.  There will be some enemy soldiers here that also set up a machine gun nest.  You can come up behind them though and eliminate them quickly.  Go to the prone position and then make your way across to the ammo box that you can reload from.  Do not reload at this time though.  There is a pillar behind the ammo box, move behind it and stand all the way up and use the M29 to peek out from behind it and you should be able to see an APC here.  Call in an air strike on it and once you have called in the strike immediately be ready to defend your position either with the mounted machine gun here or by waiting for the enemies to come to you.  I generally prefer to either wait for the enemy or move back to the opening onto the street and move forward slightly and then take them out as they move across the rubble in the courtyard.  After you have eliminated the infantry, you are now ready to eliminate the tank that is in the courtyard.  Go back into the where you painted the APC at and in a crouch move towards the front.  As you get near the edge, peek out with your M29 until you see the tank, paint it and call in the air strike.  You may need to reposition yourself several times before you can see the tank clearly.    With the destruction of the tank, you are now ready to move on to the next objective.

Your next objective will be to eliminate a group of soldiers that are in the streets to the west.  Move in that direction slowly, taking your time to be sure you have cover.  As you start down the street from the courtyard, stay low and move along the left side of the street.  Along the way you will run into several enemies that you will need to take care of.  After you have dealt with them, be ready for a new objective as an enemy APC moves from around the corner and into sight.  If you stayed on the left side of the street, you will notice a large piece of rubble that has fallen that provides excellent cover.  Peek over the top of it with your M29 and then paint the APC and call in an air strike to destroy the APC.

After you have destroyed the APC, you will need to move carefully down the street and when approaching the next corner, you will be warned of a large troop buildup to your northeast.  You will need to move in that direction to take out the infantry.  As you move to complete this objective, you will be told of another APC that is to your northeast.  Be wary as you approach as you will have waves of enemies charging you as you move further into the mission.  Make use of all cover that you can and take enemies out as fast as possible and using as little ammo as possible.  As you near the APC, you will be coming to another corner, when you are near the corner, go prone once again and then slide your forward and peek out around the corner with the M29 and paint the APC and call in the air strike.

Once the APC has been destroyed, move up again, slowly and carefully, using cover as much as possible.  As you slowly move around the corner, you will be attacked by a sniper across the open area in front of you in a bombed out building.  He will be on the top level, deal with him quickly.  As soon as he falls and you move forward you will be told there is a tank moving up on you.  Duck back around the corner and move back a little ways and the tank should stop near where the APC stopped.  Slowly make your way back around once it has stopped and paint it and call in an air-strike to destroy it.

Make your way slowly around the corner and you will need to take out some more North Korean troops.  Once you have eliminated them, you will be given a new objective of destroying a tank at the end of the road you are on.  Slowly make your way up the left side using cover as you go.  You will need to kill several more infantry that are with the tank, as they start moving out away from the tank towards you.  As you near the end of the street, drop to the prone position and you move forward till you come to a small hill of rubble.  As you are making your way up it, stop to use your M29 to peek over and see if you can see the tank.  When it comes into your sights, paint it and call in the air strike to destroy it.  Once this tank has been destroyed, the objective and the mission are complete.

Battle

This is by far the most intense mission of the campaign and one that is an excellent one to play online with cooperatively with friends.  The mission is very straightforward.  Hold the lines from the charging enemies.  You can literally complete this mission with over a hundred kills.  Note that an important weapon choice in this is the SAW.  With the sheer numbers of enemies, it is important to have a machine gun to handle this with.

During the battle, you will find that you will need to reload multiple times and there are ammo crates behind each trench that you start at.  During the combat, there will be multiple waves of North Koreans that charge.  Each one must be killed to keep any from breaking through the lines.  If even one breaks through, the mission is a failure.

After several waves of infantry, an APC will make its way across the bridge and stop on your side and begin to fire on you.  It needs to be eliminated as quickly as possible with a bazooka round either by you or a squad mate before it kills you or your squad mates.  After the APC attack, you will have several more waves of infantry that attack.

You will then be told to take shelter as a mortar barrage starts.  It is at this point that is best to make your way out to reload if need be.  You do take a chance on being hit by a mortar blast, but if you do it when the infantry are charging, you stand a better chance of the enemies breaking through.  It is also at this time that the bridge across the river that the North Koreans are charging through is destroyed.  Ready your bazooka during this time as well, because there will be a column of armor that comes along the road on the far side of the river and you will need to destroy them.

After you have taken out the tanks in the armored column, you will again have waves of infantry attacking.  Again make sure that none of the enemies are allowed to make it through the line or the mission is failed.  During this attack, a friendly helicopter will join the fight and begin assaulting the enemy troops.  Shortly after the helicopter joins the fight on your side, another enemy APC comes straight down the river, be ready for it and destroy it as quickly as possible when it comes into view.  After this, there will be some more waves of enemy infantry coming at you from across the river.  Eliminate them and you will receive a new objective.

The new objective will tell you that there was a break in the line to your west and you will need to fill it.  At this time, move over to the trench that is across the road from your present position and be ready for the final push by the North Koreans in this mission.  Move there as quick as you can because the North Koreans are already beginning to pour through the hole and you will need to eliminate them and then take the trench back and hold it.  There is also a tank advancing with these infantry and you will need to take care of it yourself or instruct your squad mates to destroy it while you keep firing on the infantry.  Once the tank has been destroyed, there will be more waves of the infantry.  Once they have all been taken care of there will be one final air strike on the North Koreans and the mission will end.

Train Yard

The next mission is once again a night mission.  So you will need to use your night vision goggles to your advantage.  The mission will involve you moving to assist German troops already engaged in a firefight with the North Koreans and then completing other objectives assigned to you.

Your first objective is to move up towards and rendezvous with the German troops that have been pinned down by the North Koreans.  Once you have done this, you will need to stay with them and offer support for them as North Koreans reinforcements advance.  Once you have done this, the objective is complete

You will now be given a new objective to move up and attack the train yard.  Be sure to go slowly and watch for enemies as you advance on the train yard.  The best way that I have found to approach the train yard itself is to approach and hold the parking lot.  The enemy will come to you there and you are able to control where their approach with the help of your squad mates and the German soldiers that come along with you from the first objective.  You will notice that you are attacked primarily from the northeast and the southeast.  After a while of the infantry attacking, there will be an enemy helicopter that will fly overhead.  It does not attack you, but if you do not eliminate it, it does drop enemy reinforcements that will attack from behind you.  Either use your bazooka or have one of your squad mates bring it down.  After this attack, more infantry will move against you.  Continue to hold the parking lot against enemy infantry until the objective is complete.

Once this has been done, you will need to move out and secure the train yard as a new objective.  Move out into the train yard and mop up any resistance that is left, using the terrain as cover as much as possible.  I usually go out through the southeast entrance into the yard and work my way up eliminating enemies as I go.  Once this objective has been met, the mission is complete.

Pilot Down

This is a rescue and escort mission.  This mission inserts you behind enemy lines so you can locate and rescue a downed pilot.  Once you have found him, you must escort him out to the extraction point.  If he dies along the way, the mission has failed.

Once you have been inserted into the mission, move to the southwest towards the pilot carefully and using cover and terrain to your advantage, as usual.  You will need to move as quickly as possible though or the pilot will be taken.  Once you have arrived there, make sure to eliminate all the enemies that you see.  Once you have, the next objective will be given to you to move the pilot to the LZ for extraction.  The extraction point is to the northeast of your current position.

As you move back towards the LZ, you will be told that the LZ has become too hot for extraction and you are to move to the secondary extraction point that is to the northwest of your current location.  Once this has happened, immediately ready your bazooka or be ready to order one of your squad mates to attack the enemy APC that comes along in front of you or it will make short work of you and your squad.

As you move forward through the woods on your way to the secondary LZ, move steadily forward and checking often for enemies as they will attack you from all sides.  Use cover wisely and watch out for the enemies that are hunting you, there are a lot of them on this mission.  As you move along, you will be warned that there are pockets of resistance to the north and that an artillery barrage is being called in to deal with them.  Stand down at this point or you may find yourself in the attack range of the artillery and will be killed.  Watch for enemies at this time as well as they are in the area and will attack.  Once the artillery barrage is done, keep moving forward towards the extraction point.  Again, keep an eye out all around you for enemies as you will be attacked from all sides as you make your way through the woods.  Once you have reached the extraction point, the objective and the mission are complete.

Hospital Camp

The eighth mission in the campaign, the Hospital Camp mission is one that you will defend the hospital camp from an enemy attack.  This mission is similar to the Battle mission, and as with it, a SAW machine gun is recommended for it.

NOTE: If at any time you have enemies break through your positions, you will be given a new objective of eliminating all enemies within the camp and you will need to hunt them down and kill them and return to the objective you were working before.

Your first objective will be to defend the north side of the camp.  Make your way there quickly and begin taking out the enemy as they approach.  You will have a tank approaching as well, take it out yourself or have one of your squad mates attack it to destroy it.  Once it is destroyed, finish taking out any other enemies here.  There is a machine gun here you or one of your squad mates can mount as well.  Once this objective is completed, you will be given a new one to defend the northwest part of the camp.

Make your way here quickly and be ready for waves of enemy infantry.  Once you have dealt with them, you may need to re-supply your ammo.  There is an ammo box behind you at which you can do this.

Your next objective will be to defend the northeast section of the camp, so make your way there.  There are two emplaced guns here that you can man if you choose to.  Here like the last objective, you will have to repel waves of enemy infantry.  Once it is completed, you will receive a new objective.

The next objective will be to defend the southwest portion of the camp, so move there now.  Again, there will be waves of enemy infantry and you should have no problems taking out all of the enemies.  There is another ammo box here if you need to replenish your ammo.

Your next objective will be to defend the southeast side of the camp.  Go there as quickly as you can.  Again there will be waves of infantry enemies.  Take them out as they attack.  Once this objective is complete, the mission is completed.

Crossroads

Crossroads is the next mission you will be assigned to and the second Lone Wolf mission in the campaign.  In this mission you are assigned to destroy a convoy and a fuel depot that the North Koreans have near a village of civilians that the allies cannot bring a lot of military might on due to the civilians.

Your first objective is to destroy a convoy that is running west on the road.  Move towards your objective, taking care to watch for enemies along the way.  Move up slowly along the side of the road staying behind cover and using your M29 to peek out to scope out the area in front of you.  Once you see the convoy coming, switch over to your grenade launcher on the M29 and fire to destroy the jeep that is leading the convoy.  This sometimes will stop the convoy in place and you will be able then to paint the lead truck for the air strike to destroy the convoy.  Be careful along this way though, as there are North Korean infantry all throughout the woods in patrols.  Once the convoy has been attacked, they will start to converge on your area as well, so be alert for that as well.  Once you have successfully called in an air strike on the convoy and the trucks are destroyed, you have completed the first objective.

Your next objective is the elimination of an enemy command vehicle.  This objective will actually come to you.  Find a high place to overlook the road and wait for the enemy APC that will be coming towards you and prepare to destroy it with another air strike.  Along with the APC will be several infantrymen, be sure to take them out or they may prove worrisome.  Once the APC has bee painted and the air strike called in on it, this objective is complete.

Your next objective will be to plant an explosive charge at a fuel depot to cut off some of the North Koreans ability to refuel their vehicles.  Make your way to the depot slowly and carefully, eliminating enemies as you encounter them.  As you get near the fuel depot, there will be hills around, use this to your advantage so you can peek over them with your M29 and attack the forces at the fuel depot.  There are several machine gun nests at the depot, as well as several infantry that will charge once you have open fired.  If you are well hidden, you will be able to take out the infantry men before they can move to get close to you to get open shots.  The machine gunners may open fire, but you should be a very small target with only your arms sticking up, so be sure to hit the infantry men firs then destroy the machine gunners.  An alternate to this is to use grenades, either thrown or launched from the M29 at the enemies to destroy them.  Once they have been dealt with, move in and plant the charge.

Once the charge has been planted, move quickly as the enemies will now be swarming all over your area, including two enemy jeeps.  If you stay and fight at this point, try to take out the gunner it at all possible, as the machine gun is the most dangerous weapon and can be fired while the jeep is moving.  A new objective will be given to you once you have started moving.  It is to get to the extraction point.  Move as quickly as you can to it, but do not forget to keep an out for enemy forces that may be near you.  Once you reach the extraction point, the objective and the mission are complete.

Railway

This is the tenth mission of the campaign and is one that is a mixture of assault and defend strategies.  Your mission is to first laser paint a bridge for an air strike to destroy to keep some nuclear weapons into position for a strike on allied forces by the North Koreans

Your first objective will be to move into position so that you can paint the bridge with the laser target for the air strike to destroy it.  Make your way towards your waypoint, moving carefully and eliminating any enemies you encounter.  Once you have reached the waypoint, you will have to laze the bridge to have the air strike destroy it.  This will cause the approaching train to crash into the ravine leaving some of the train cars behind with the nukes in them.  You will now have a new objective to secure the cargo from the North Koreans.

Now you will need to move down to the cars and secure them and then hold them from attacking enemies.  This can be a little frustrating at first for two reasons, the first and most important is that you are giving the high ground to the North Koreans and they can fire down on you and the second is there is limited cover around the train cars.  To succeed here, you will need to keep an out for approaching enemies and eliminate them fast and make sure you use what cover there is to your advantage.  Once you have taken care of all the enemies, a friendly helicopter will come in to secure the nukes for transport out and you will be given a new objective of destroying an enemy outpost.

As always when moving along, move carefully and be sure to keep an eye out for enemy troops.  If you can, try to take out the enemies from a distance by zooming in.  There are a lot of enemies present in the camp and if you don’t try to do this, they may overwhelm you by sheer force of numbers.  Once you have eliminated all the enemies here, then the objective and the mission are complete.

Bridge

The Bridge is a mission that takes place at night; so once again, you will need your night vision goggles.  The basics of the mission are that you will need to take and hold a bridge to keep the North Koreans from possessing it and moving their armor units into a more advantageous place.

As you enter into the mission, you are given the objective of securing the bridge.  To do this, you will need to move to the north and take secure the bridge there.  As you are moving, be sure to keep an out for enemies and take them out as you encounter them.  As you move forward, you will be given a new objective of clearing out a roadside ambush.  Begin to move towards this and take it out as quickly as possible, making sure that you watch for enemies along the way.   This objective will consist of eliminating two APC’s that are advancing.  Either have your squad mates take them out or do it yourself with a bazooka shot.  After you have taken them out, continue on your way towards securing the bridge.  Once you arrive at the bridge, you will need to clear it of enemies.  This will need to be done on both sides.  Fortunately, once you take one side, you will be able to fire down to the other side to take care of the other enemies.  There is also an emplaced gun here that you can use to attack the enemy at the far side of the bridge if you wish to.  Once all enemies have been killed, the objective is complete.

The next objective in the mission is to hold the bridge until reinforcements arrive.  Get yourself dug in and ready to defend.  It can be a long wait for the reinforcements.  While you are waiting for reinforcements, you are attacked by both infantry and an enemy helicopter, so be ready for both and have a bazooka loaded and ready to take the helicopter down by either you or a squad mate.  Once the allied tanks arrive, the objective is complete and you move on to the next objective.

The last objective is to escort the tanks that relieve you of duty from enemy infantry as they make their way across the map.  This is a fast objective as the tanks move quickly and you must run to keep up with them.  It’s also pretty much a walk through the rest of the mission as the tanks fire on the enemy as well and you may have to play mop up to a few stragglers and that is it.  Run with the tanks to the end of the objective and the end of the mission.

Fuel Depot

This mission is one in which you will be dispatched to laze the last of the North Koreans major fuel depots for an air strike to destroy it.  It is also another night mission, so make use of your night vision goggles one more time.

The first objective is to move forward and laze the fuel depot for the air strike.  You should encounter no resistance at this point and it should be a straight shot to the laze zone and you can laze the fuel depot and the air strike will come in and take care of this objective with no problem.

Your next objective is to move to the east and reach your extraction point.  As you move towards it, take care of any enemies and neutralize them.  As you near the extraction point, the chopper sent in to extract you is shot down and you will be given a new objective of making your way to the secondary extraction point across the map.  Move slowly and carefully to that point, watching for enemy patrols along the way.  Be careful, because you can run into both jeep mounted enemies, as well as enemy armor.  If you run into the enemy armor, you will have to have a squad mate destroy it, as you do not have a bazooka to take it down.  Be ready for both of these types of encounters as you move to the extraction point.  When you reach the extraction point, the objective and the mission are complete.

Convoy

This mission is an escort mission, where you will be escorting a light convoy out of enemy territory.

Your first objective is to rendezvous with the convoy, so begin making your way to the way point, taking out any enemies as you encounter them.  As always, move forward carefully scanning for enemies and try to eliminate them from a distance if possible.  You should run into several patrols along the way to meeting up with the convoy, so be careful of that.  Once you reach the convoy, you will be thrown into a firefight with several North Koreans, take them out and you will complete the first objective.

Your next objective will then be assigned to you, and it is escorting the convoy to safety.  When the convoy moves out, go along with it and give it support from enemies along the way.  This objective is not really that difficult, simply stay slightly out in front of the convoy and eliminate all enemy forces that you encounter.  There are two encounters that are worthy of mention though.  One is with a group of snipers that attack from ridgelines along the road.  Take them out when they appear.  You should receive a verbal warning from one of your squad mates that they are about to appear when he mentions something about this being a good place for snipers.  The second encounter is near the end of the mission.  You will encounter an enemy APC backed up by a squad of infantry.  The APC is in the center of the road and you will receive an objective update to let you know to expect it.  When you get the update, ready your bazooka and be ready for it.  If you zoom out with the bazooka, you should have no problem in destroying it before it becomes a danger to you.  After it is destroyed, simply take out the infantry and you are done with the mission.

Quarry

Quarry is the last Lone Wolf mission in the campaign.  The mission itself is one to gather intel from the enemy that has set up here.

Your objective here is to find any and all enemy intel.  There will be heavy resistance from the North Koreans here and this mission is actually one of the most difficult, if not most difficult of the campaign, so you may have to make more than one attempt at it.  Start off by crossing to the left side of the road and working your way down slowly.  As you near the first bend in the road, be ready for enemies to come at you from the north.  Take them out and then move up to the higher ground here to scout in front of you with the M29.  If there are any more enemies here, remove them and then move further into the quarry.

After you have gone past a small building and moved down a little further you will be warned of an approaching troop transport.  This is a truck that will be carrying some troops that you will need to deal with.  Find some cover and use your M29 to watch for the truck.  When it stops and the troops step out, take care of them.  Once you have dealt with the truck’s passengers move over to a rock outcropping that is next to the bulldozer and get in the prone position and crawl forward till you are able to peer over the top of the hill with the M29.  Zoom in straight across from and you should see a sniper there.  Take him out now or he may cause you problems later on.  Once you have done this, make your way across the road and up another trail that will lead you to higher ground.  Be careful in this area, as there are usually several North Koreans close by.  Dispose of them and then move up till you can use the M29 to view several large cranes and bulldozers.  Look around for any enemies and eliminate them as quickly as possible.  Be ready for some that may charge your position and nail them fast.

Carefully and slowly make your way down into the area among all the steam shovels, dozers, and other equipment till you can see an enemy manning an emplaced machine gun straight across from the first steam shovel that you come down to.  Take him out at this point or he may pin you down and the other enemies in this area can move in and take you out easily.  After he is down, work your way up to where he was, killing any and all enemies that you can as you move there.  When you get to his position you will find an ammo box in case you need to refill.  You can also man the machine gun here and take out any remaining enemies in the area directly in front of you at this time.

After the enemies have been killed here, move forward slowly down the road till the road goes around another corner.  Here you will also see another path leading off the road, slowly make your way up the path and keep peeking up and around with the M29.  You will see some enemies here that you can eliminate quickly with the M29.  After you have killed them, move into this area and use the rock outcroppings to eliminate other enemies around you.  At this time, you will also have to more than likely deal with a jeep attacking.  Either shoot the gunner or shoot it with a grenade from your grenade launcher to take it out.  Be careful that you don’t expose yourself when attacking the infantry with your M29.  They generally do not attack you by running up, preferring to sit back and take potshots at you, but it is easy for them to work you into being caught in a crossfire, so take them out quickly without exposing yourself.

After you have taken out the enemies here, move across the road and down the side trail, making sure to peek out with the M29 as you go.  You will soon see more enemies, neutralize them and move forward slowly till you are close to the road.  Before you step out, use your M29 to peek out again and eliminate a sniper that is straight down the road.  Once he is taken care of, you should have removed all enemies in this area.

Work your way down to where you took out the sniper at, being careful to look out for any enemies that may be around the corner from you.  Once you are up where the sniper was at, you will be warned that there is enemy armor ahead.  As in the previous Lone Wolf missions, paint it with the laser and call in the air strike on it.  Once it is neutralized, work your way further down into the quarry.

This part of the mission is the most difficult.  You will need to clear all enemy opposition from the quarry to finish the objective and the mission.  Along with a large number of enemy infantry are two tanks that you must deal with by painting them and calling in an air strike on them.  The best way to complete this is to keep behind cover and eliminate the infantry as you can.  Some of them will charge you, so be sure to eliminate them first.  After you have eliminated as much of the infantry as you can, paint one of the tanks and call in the air strike.  While you are waiting for the plane to move back into position for another air strike, clean up more of the infantry and when you can call back in the air strike, move to get the second tank in your sights and paint it for an air strike.  Once it and all the rest of the infantry have been dealt with move into the quarry and collect the intel and the mission will be completed.

Dam

Dam is the final mission of the campaign and also the longest.  The mission itself will take you through a power plant and into a dam area where the North Koreans have a nuke that is ready to detonate and destroy civilians with it.

Your first objective will be to move towards where the nuke is being readied.  As you move out of the insertion point be on the lookout for enemy patrols that will be in the river and among the rocks that are along the riverside.  They can be hard to see and can quickly catch you in a crossfire.  As you take them out, move across the river and you will see a jeep moving up, neutralize it quickly.  Once across the river, you will run into more patrols, so be ready for them.

Follow the road up towards the power plant, staying on either the right side or the left side of the road eliminating any enemies you encounter.  As you move up, keep an eye out on the roofs of the buildings in the power plant as there are snipers up there that can take you out with one shot, neutralize them as fast as possible.  Work your way through the rocks up to the power plant and wait.  You will have many of the enemy come to you this way, and you can dig in and eliminate them as they charge you.

After you have cleared out the area around the power plant move forward along the right side of the road again.  As you move, eliminate any enemies you encounter.  There will be an enemy APC along this route, so be sure to be ready to eliminate it with a bazooka round or have a squad mate take it out.  Move along this way slowly or you will quickly find yourself overrun with enemies.  Take them out from a distance when you can.  As many as there are on this level, this is a necessity for a successful completion.  Keep advancing in this way, eliminating infantry as you go.  A little further on, you will run into a tank, so be ready for this with either a bazooka or your squad mates taking it out.  As you come to a bend in the road, you will be warned that enemy helicopters are on the way, be ready to deal with them as there are two of them.  Once they have been destroyed, move forward and deal with any infantry that comes your way.

As you continue to advance, you will be told by HQ that the North Korean general is preparing to flee.  Move on towards the dam to make sure he does not flee.  Move forward and take out enemy troops as they come at you.  As you near the entrance to the dam, an APC will come crashing through a wall, so be ready to destroy it.  As you enter into the dam, you will see the general’s chopper begin to take off.  Take it out with a bazooka shot.  This will end the objective, the mission, and the campaign of GR2.
