It should help because it now uses a 65nm GPU instead of a 90nm. It also uses less energy. This should help a lot with the heat which causes RRoDs

Thanks. I just lost my 4th new 360 in the last 3 years. It was a falcon/opus. It was supposed to be bulletproof. It died, but it never got hot, or even warm. Weird. I'm trying to weigh my options at this time. Not sure what direction I'm gonna go in, though. Do I want a refurb, which you never know what you're gonna get, or try to find a jasper and hope it lasts. Or, gasp, go over to the dark side? I've got a whole lot invested in the 360 with games and accessories, but I have absolutely no confidence in the console! So, I'm devestated, but also in a quandry.

Anyone have any updates on Amazon's inventory of Arcade consoles? Are they all Jaspers now, or is it still hit and miss?

I know running down to Best Buy would be easier, but trying to avoid paying sales tax ;)

I bought 2 month used xbox arcade from U.K.it will come 5 days after.I asked to seller the serial number of the xbox.
He said last 5 diigit: 84905
it means it is produced 49th week of 2008?
i know 84305 series are Jasper.

what about 84905 numbers?

Never a bad thig getting one, just a tough time finding one. Unless you want an Arcade, in which case they seem easy to find. They are likely to be more reliable and CHEAPER to run than previous incarnations.

UK Elite hunters:
I tried Asda and they were at 822! They have gone backwards. Still some 846x ones at a couple of stores I tried though. Sadly they are not Jasper.

That would depend on where in Europe. I would say that if it is only an Arcade you want then most places will have Jasper Arcades. For the other ones it is a little more difficult. The Elite Jasper (black one) has only been seen in Germany and Japan. If you find a RE special edition red Elite then you might want to consider that as they are all Jaspers.

Hey, I live in Dubai and just had my previous Pro console go bust, RROD... I was looking to buying the new Jasper Elite out here. The thing is that most of the stores I've checked here, Sharaf DG, Geekay, Emax, Plugins, etc. only have the Jasper Arcade consoles. Anyone seen any stores selling the Jasper Pro or Elite consoles around in Dubai? They're as hard to find as aliens so far!!

Look at the LOT number. It is a damn good indication of whether you have a chance of a Jasper.

It hasn't been updated for a few months now... and doesn't seem reliable. 

i just brought a red xbox resident evil limited edition and they are jaspers january 2009 they were made

The higher the LOT number the better. The ones on the 1st page are likely to have been the earliest sightings. Most ones you find above that number should be ok. Be aware though that each SKU had Jaspers coming in at different times. The Arcades were first, then Pros.

Just got a Jasper arcade from BestBuy in Dublin,ca. .The Lot # 0912X.Team:CSON. I really wanted to get the 360 PRO but with the help of my wife(she totally rocks!!!) we went through about 30 xboxpro boxes, all the lot#'s were 0846X and they all had the 14.2 amperage so they were definately not jaspers.I asked the sales person if they had anymore in the back but he stated that all their stock was on the floor and that these were from a new shipment they had just recieved this past week.So it still seems that the surest way to get a jasper is to go with the Arcade. Good Hunting... 

I think I am going to just go and buy the Elite with Halo 3 & Fable II and not worry anymore about finding a Jasper.

Picked up an 360 Elite and it's a Mfg Date of 06/06/2008, came with the two games I listed above in my last post. Lot# 0822, DC brushless fans, 175 watt power supply, and 14.2 amps . It runs warm not hot and quite for a Falcon.

I have visited my local Best Buys as well as Game Stops. All GOTY Elite bundles I have seen are Falcon repacks. They must have one hell of a load of Elite Falcons to get rid of.

Egyptian Tomb Home Theater

Hey, I just bought a GOTY Elite Bundle today.  Just as a side note, Halo 3 and Fable II do come in one box.  It's really odd, but not that bad when you get down to it.  Anyhow, I wanted to see what kind of chip I had in it.  I have some of the numbers below, but I don't know what I'm looking for.
