Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
Thanks, then!  I know it's not a Jasper, but still, it's a brand new Elite with warranties and all.  These also have E74 warranties that match that of the RRoD, and that's nothing to sneeze at.  Perfectly happy with it.

Also, if it should error, I can just send it off.  Not fun, but once it's refurbished, it's pretty much okay.

Anyhow, thanks for the help.

Falcon is okay, just take care of it. keep the console horizontal and not enclosed if possible but if you have to, make sure there's good ventilation and lifting the bottom is an extra precaution and lastly save the games you need accessible to the hard drive and you should be good for a long time Smile [:)]

The Elite Falcon that I just purchased runs really quite and cooler then my old 360 60 giger. I had it on for about 6 hours straight playing games and downloading game add-on's with no problems what so ever.

I couldn't agree more with this comment. A recent Falcon build that is looked after should be pretty error free. Can I suggest that you give it 4 little rubber feet, so as to raise it slightly up of the floor. They may also assist in reducing any vibration and associated noise on top of also allowing better ventilation. Congratulations, I hope you have many long hours of gaming. I'm waiting for a Jasper, as much due to financial considerations as the fact that I have waited this long that another month won't hurt. Besides, I really want to know what they have in store at E3. Who knows, they may announce something pretty big that shifts the existing Falcon inventory. They could also announce that they intend to stop making the Elite in which case there is always a slight chance that they reduce the price slightly in order to get them gone. I noticed a few months back that the price of an Elite had come right down to the £209 mark. This is pretty good and it could indicate that they are infact changing or removing the Elite SKU altogether. Either way I think that it is close enough to worth waiting for (less than 2 weeks away).

I just had my second 360 go bad yesterday(5/23/09). The dreaded 3 red lights. It was a refurb built back in 2006. It lasted almost two years. Longer than my first unit.

Just picked up a xbox arcade jasper at best buy today. I have too much invested in games to just stop using the 360. I just recently spent $150 for a TE Street Fighter 4 stick. Lets hope Microsoft has repaired the issue.

I did not write down the lot info. It says 12.1a on the back and has the built in memory. It was built Jan. 2009.

I see no evidence that this newer version is any better and it seems very hit or miss in getting one. IT seems the only way to know if you have the jasper is to open it up. The manufacture date may be a clue but it still does not definitively tell you if it is a new version or not. Really you should be able to just buy the newer version if you wish.

When is MS going to knock all this off and stop being this way to customers? Honestly what is there problem? MS needs to get it's head out of where we all know it is and stop this craziness.

You can tell the difference without voiding the warranty. Look at the power consumption rating on the back of your console. If it is 12.1A, you are a winner. any higher and you are looking at a Falcon or one of the others.

As much as it frys my head that I am still waiting for a Jasper Elite (in black), I accept that if MS did tell everyone which the new models were then they would be stuck with a ton of older consoles that they couldn't shift. They only gave us the info regarding the red Elites because it was a short run of units. It will have also helped them shift the bundles.

That is not right for them to be doing that. They should be telling people or providing a better warranty it should be a 3 year warranty for everything not this just for the RROD.  Ms should tell everyone so I can not end up with a peice of junk the ones that are a POS should be sold for cheap. Really I think that MS should be made to do the right thing which they have not.

I am stuck with a 360 that has a DVD drive that is not working right. Yet they are are saying that they only cover the RROD for 3 years even though this is a refurb. Which was not right eaither it being near warranty ending I should have received a brand new console of the better model if it is better. You would not be able to tell what model of console it was till you buy it. I am sure the info on the back cannot be seen when it is in the box at the store.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
Sorry to hear your drive is totalled. If you grab an Arcade then you can see the Amp rating and decide if it is Jasper. I have seen a number at my local Asda. Not covering the cheapo DVD drive is a little out of order, I agree. If it helps (and I know it won't), a friend of mine has all consoles and his PS3 will no longer work well and can only be used to play DVDs. Sony want £100 to fix it.

My only suggestion is that you go for a Jasper Arcade and add you HDD to it.

PSU Output: 150W
Console Power Rating: 12.1A

Just picked up an Arcade Edition today because my old launch console got the E74 error screen. Love it. Real quiet and runs smooth.

As for the old console, I was wondering if the E74 error problem is still covered by the extended warranty Microsoft issued. The warranty on the system expired 1/18/2007, so I was wondering if I'd still have to pay to ship it and all that or if it's covered. Thanks

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…

Well. Im on my hunt for a Jasper on Thursday. Hopefully I can find one at my local Best Buy since I have some giftcards. Just to be clear what Im looking for is:

A lot number higher than 845
A manf. date of **/**/2009
A Power Supply of 150W

I can tell this from the outside of the box before I purchase right? I didnt have time to read every post in this thread so if I could get a update on this it would be helpful. What is the sure way to tell you have a Jasper in the store before purchasing? Thx for the help guys!!!

Just hold your horses buddy! It will largely depend on if you want a Pro or Arcade. For Arcade I would think you would be safe, for Pro I'm not so sure. The truth is that the LOT is a damn fine indicator, however, I would ALWAYS check the Amp rating through the window. It is dead easy on the Arcades to see it through the slot.

Yea. I will be getting an Arcade. So my best bet is to check for the Amp rating, the LOT number being higher than 845 and a manf. date of somewhere in 2009 just to be safe? Im on my hunting tommorrow before work.

The PSU rating is insignificant, besides you would have already opened the box if you can see the PSU, so put that to the back of your mind. The key thing is that the actual console says 12.1A. If it does not then you don't have a Jasper. Any Xbox built (note I said built and NOT repackaged) this year should be good. Late last year is likely to be ok for an Arcade too. The first sighting of an Arcade was an 843X, but subsequently someone did say that theirs was 842 and Jasper. But be aware that while the transition was made a few Falcons will have been made in the same week as the early Jaspers. So in my opinion, if you happen to find an Arcade with a LOT of 843 or higher I would have a little glance through the rectangular window. This will give you a definitive answer. I hope that helps, if not post again. Good luck.
