LMAO when I read "I think I have a Pro", glad you cleared that up.

UK Jasper hunters, I have seen more black Jasper Elites. Damn I wish I had some spare cash.

sweet thanks. i was lookin at a pro today, and looked at the serial number spot through the box, and saw the date of 10/2008 so i guess that ones straight. kewl. but on that link/first page, it says: PSU Output-175W, but below that it says 150. Might want to edit that.

thanks

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
From what I believe, On the box it should say how many volts it uses, a jasper model only uses 12.1V or something like that...While the Falcoln uses a good 14.1V. Another way to tell is if you were to peak into the right side of the console itself with a flashlight, if you see a copper tube it is a Falcoln, if you don't see that copper tube it's a Jasper. While of course the more direct way would be to open the thing and have a look see.Smile [:)]

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
If you wanna know what you have just look at the back of your console NOT the PSU. 12.1A = Jasper. If it is 14.2 then you have a Falcon. Anything higer and you have either Zenon or Zephyr, depending if it has a HDMI port. The PSU gives you a max rating, in other words the max output/draw of that product. But a Jasper could use any of the PSUs that have ever shipped with a 360, each  360 is backward compatible in terms of PSU. My advice is never open up a console, leave that to Ben Heck.

UK Jasper hunters, during yet another trip to my local Asda I stumbled on more Jaspers, this time Arcade. They were in a Sega Superstars tennis bundle box, LOT ABIR 915.

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
I had just bought an New Elite consolde yestarday morning, which I'm returning because I was like wtf, It's slow doesn't update, hard drive isn't working, and console freezes. But yeah, although it has a HDMI input it doesn't mean it is a Jasper version. I heard they are most likely found on Arcade versions, do to the fact, if your gonna save money might as well do it on a console that sells the least, and apparently xbox has a load of older elite consoles waiting to be sold. So yeah as someone had responded to me the way to look is at the soper supply jasper=12.1A while Falcon=14.2A on the back of the console on the serial number sticker. It can be read on it w/o having to open the console box.

it says 14.2 on the power supply so that must make it a falcon which has just been sent away for repair due to e74.

so are the jasper models a lot more reliable whats the difference????

Im gonna be trading in my 1st gen (20gb) towards an elite and i really want the jasper!! But gamestop  has a bundle that includes Halo3 and Fable2 for the same price as an elite thats not bundled, does that mean the bundle is more than likely an older model there trying to sell off?? Should I just pay for the elite that isn't bundled?

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
Bro I had seen, that @ walmart, and was pissed to see I hadn't waited two days to get that model and check it out, but I wish I knew...It's a newer bundle though so it would likely be Jasper...But then again Xbox has just been strapping accesories to older models that they have had for awhile. Look at both of them. My advice to you is to get it, if you are kind enough to customer support they will open the box for you so you can take a look at the power supply...BTW: I'm no longer a Gamestop fan, do to their return policie and inconsistant customer service, one employee didn't mind me returning it for my money back, while another the console had to be broken but not to broken to exchange and then later tells me I can't return it because it's not new/opened, I recommend you try Costco or Walmart...Smile [:)] If you have anymore questions, I'm consistantly updating my own knowledge on the consoles as well...and I hope this answered your question.

i would, but walmart dont do trade ins. Im just really hoping gamestop has it in stock, I would keep my 20gb but its my 4th one, its choppy after an hour or 2 and its out of warranty. This topic was started in late '08 so Im hoping most elites are jaspers by now, and not to mention im so impatient I know Im gonna walk out with whatever they have in stock that day :D

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
True, which is I bought my Elite from them on the 10th this month, 2 days ago. It was that Kung Fu Panda Bundle. I didn't really care what type it was till after it started freezing up, so I was like wtf, I check the back and it's a Falcon. I hope you get a Jasper otherwise it's a console waiting to mess up, oh btw the console I had bought has only 2 months left, which it's supposed to be a year, so check yours out online when you buy it, don't get me wrong it's a sweet deal. Speak w/ customer service to dispute your warranty if thats the same case for you. I sent my elite in for repairs yesterday and hoping I get a jasper back, considering it is more cost efficient for them to just replace the consoles...Any questions please ask me, I've been pretty much answering everyones questions from this point on...Big Smile [:D]

Sometimes when I play Gears of War 1 (single and co-op), I experience some framerate lag, while my friend (with a Falcon) doesn't have any lag. Could it be that it's because I have a Jasper?

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
There are many variations in getting FPS lag, more then often its the disk, someone had recently said something about how well the chip is placed on the motherboard or something related to that, heat and time weres down the chip and can cause it to bend and eventually RRod, you may have gotten a console which had already begun doing that, but lets not jump to conclusions...Other problems could be network and or the the disk reading drive itself(lens scratched)...My suggestions to you are to do that x,x,lb,rb,x,x maintanance check in the harddrive and/or stand the console up which allows for the console to run smoother and cooler...If you use D-Skins while standing up make sure you have them securely clipped on othwerwise you risk scratching lense farther...If you have any questions plz don't hesitate to ask...I answer no matter who inane they are...(>^_^<)

Yeah, gamestop is pulling in new elite shipments, very likely to be jasper models, I'm not quite sure if they are jasper 256 or jasper 512, but I had just confirmed that they do sell different types of them yestarday It turns out its not that they are really trying to be cheap, well yeah they are, but Elites don't sell as much as the Arcade and pro's which is why its taken longer for it to come out. This next shipment at gamestop would and should be Jasper...GL

People always told me that it was better to lay the console down (horizontal)? So you say this isn't true and I have to put it vertical?
Thanks in advance ;)

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…

Laying it flat is safer in a way that it's more stable and your disk has less potential of scratching up, since your just plopping the disk in there. Whereas if you had it standing up heat does not build up between the electronics and the surface your console is placed on, creating more heat which is trapped underneith the console where the fans nor any real airflow can actually reach...Back to the disk part only real down fall is your have to watch carfully when your put your disk inside the tray, make sure it's in securely...Oh and make sure the surface you put the console on is stable. If you havn't checked the inside of a box out, all the electronics are on the bottom which can lead to a serious problem when your console is laying horizontal...

So the horizontal position of my Jasper console could be the reason for the sporadic lag?

Re: How to find a full 65nm Jasper console…
I had spoken with customer service a couple years ago about this and they say that putting the console vertically helps stop disk read errors, so in that I'de assume disks read better that way. You say is only happens on GOW1, from your input I'm assuming it's just the disk and not the console?...

Hmm never thought about that, I always thought that it was because GoW1 is the "heaviest" game I have (beside GoW1 I only have Fable 2 and Burnout Paradise)... Thanks for the tip, I'll try to clean the disk and put in vertical ;D !

They are unlikely to be either. The 256 and 512 memory are only on the Arcade model.
