I understand the frustration and anger towards 2K, but honestly, this game on a bad day is better than any EA hockey game. I would rather play a game and keep stats with pen and paper, then shut the machine off after each game than buy and EA hockey game. You would think that with all EA resources that they could make a game as good as 2K sports, but they cant. They just keep pushing out the same arcade crap every year. They "tell" us its more realistic, but it never is. They just dont get it.

This is the first real problem I have had with a 2K hockey game since buying the original ESPN Hockey. So I will give them another chance again next year. As long as I can continue to clear the cache and keep the game working, I am ok with it. If the fix ever doesnt work, then the game is gone..

Just so people know, what worked for me was 4 original xbox games and 2 360 games. Its worked 3 times now.

Its now froze on me 5 times.

Class actions suits ARE about the money. 

The money the lawyers make that is.

A game having problems is nothing new.I can understand that.It's the fact that there is no indication whatsoever that they are actively working on a fix.If they had come out and said,"we know there's a problem and we're working on a patch",that would be fine.I'd just wait it out.But they seem to be ignoring a lot of paying customers.

Don't know whether it's me being mistaken, but last time I checked the UK release was 10th March.

It's now 31st March, as is NBA 2K6. Both have been put back.

Not that I'll bother with either of them after reading this thread.

who knows... maybe if they are delaying a game that has already been released here, it could mean they are fixing the problems.

I know 2K doesnt really fix all there bugs cause international games still end at 19:00 minutes... it happeded in 2K5 as well... so its entirely possible that they wont fix this for next years game either..

Sorry took so long. It happened before I even go to do any editing.  I went to play a quick game to get used to how the game played, and it locked up after playing the first game.

Fortunately enough I've not had any issues with NHL 2k6 freezing.  I'm 20 games into my franchise season.   I've downloaded the 12/15/05 roster update and still no problem.  I think the reason why I haven't had any issues with freezes is cause I don't save my profile after each game when it asks if I want to save my game profile.  What I suggest you do is reformat your HD, reinsert your NHL 2k6 disk, set up your game profile, set up your franchise season but never, and I mean never save anything to your profile once you've created it.  See if that helps.

I don't see anything else as being an issue cause I've saved my game strategies and settings on my HD and I've not had any issues doing so.  The Game Profile I think is the only thing causing the freeze.  Let me know if my suggestion works for anyone.  Good Luck.

 

 

DO NOT format your harddrive. Its unnessary and you lose everything you got on the HD. I have fixed the problem without reformatting, so I am sure it can be done. It would help if people could pinpoint why it does it, but it seems to be for different reasons for different people.

and RatedX2K, I played my game for over a month before anything happened to it. It will happen, just give it time.

I played my NHL 2K6 nearly daily from November through February before it finally hit the Eternal Load .  Since clearing it, though (by running handfuls of games), it's only done it once more to me (and it was easier to clear the second time... fewer games needed to clear the HDD cache, I suspect).

I see you have used 3 360 games (did you forget Hexic). I have another idea about the freezing. Quit playing the game or trade it in at Game Stop. I for one will do one of the above. I do not see why we have to make this game work with the system.

First off, I dont need you trying to tell me what I use and dont use. I use 4 xbox games, and two 360 games. Neither of which are Kameo or Condemned or PGR3. Why do people think everyone uses live all the time?

Anyway, if you would rather trade it in for a big loss on what you paid than taking the 3 or 4 minutes to clear the cache (which I agree we shouldnt have to) then by all means, do what you need to do. I however enjoy the game when its working and dont mind clearing the cache if its what I have to do. I would rather 2Ksports fix it, but they havent, so I do what I have to do to play the game.

I may not buy another game from them, but I have already spent the money on this one so I will do what I have to to play it. I dont have the money to waste.

My game is not freezing anymore.  I was going to trade it in for GRAW, but took it for one last spin and it worked.  I've played it a few times now and it's  still working like a champ. 

I'll trade it away soon because sports games depreciate quickly and lots of good games are on the way, but at least it's finally working!

Settle down, I just saw your gammer tag and I see that you have played, CAMEO, PGR3, Condemed, NHL 2k6, and Hexic. Which of these games are causing conflict? I guess we take for granted that everyone is on live for the gaming expierence. No one has the money to waste on a game, that is why I am so livid with this game. This one will just gather dust unitl they figure out what is screwed up. I just can not believe that you have started this thread back on 12/09/05 and are still giving it merit. Good luck with everything and let me know when they fix this issue. I may try it tonight to see if it works.

i rented this again today to try the cache trick AGAIN.  i don't have the same luck as Miguel, i even tried TEN games inbetween tries and i sitll get the freeze.

this game is a lot of fun, which makes this even MORE frustrating.  If it was Madden '06 i wouldn't even care!

Mine just started working one day.  It's just one of those wierd problems that some have, some don't, and some just get whenever their Xbox 360 feels like *** them. 

I don't know if there is really a solution to this problem other than trading it in for store credit and picking up NHL 2K7 when it comes out.  If you can't run it consistantly, I say bail out now while you can get something decent for it.  Game Stop has a nice "trade two 360 games, get a new one free" deal going on right now.

as soon as there is a game worth trading two games for I would think about it, but right now, I own all the games that are worth buying..

I'm at 27 games now, and I'm convinced it has something to do with saving your profile after every game, which is why alot of 2k6 gamers are now removing their HD and using memory cards in order to play this game without freezing.  I personally prefer not to save my profile after each game without having to purchase a memory card and have to remove my HD everytime.  That's insane.  My strategy has worked for me, but do whatever you think works best for you.  Peace.

When I originally got this game (the day it came out) did the franchise w/ Injuries on and everything, and 30 games or so into the first season BOM loading screen.  Took injuries off, started a new franchise.  Now im like 60 games in and BOOM loading screen freeze.  jesus Christ you'd think these L33T h4xx0r game developers with all their super computers and internets and "skillz" could make a game that bloody works.  I've seen more stable games back in the NES days of Ice Hockey, god.

I give up on franchise mode and now just do ladder, toruneys (using international teams) and some online.  Definately will be thinking twice before getting NHL 2K7.  The problem with games these days is that THERE'S TOO MANY BLOODY LOADING SCREENS.  Everything god damn loads this and loads that, TOO MUCH LOADING LET'S JUST GET TO THE GAME.

28th April is now the release date in the UK for this 'freeze fest'.

So, from 10th March, to 31st March, to 28th April.

I think there's a distinct admittance to a problem with the game somewhere.

You have to go in to online options to download update for offline play.  Then load roster offline
