Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I have the same issue too... It worked when i first installed it and played FallOut2... good stuff. Well when I was done playing turned off PC. Next day my controller wouldn't sync aka (it finds each other but my controller light blinks). I installed new software that was suppose to make the gaming reciever Vista compatable and i got it to sync. When I was done I disconnected and turned off my PC. NEXT DAY my controller wouldn't sync... so i uninstalled and reinstalled the software.... no go. I tried the suggested "UNPLUG ALL USB DEVICES" but i couldn't unplug "all" of my devices and leaving out the extra accessories like my external hard drive, webcam, and headset... so just my mouse and keyboard were the only USB devices... plugged in the gaming reciever... still no connection.  :(

I'm going to reboots and try the usb thing again.

FYI - I have a g15 keyboard and a MX518 mouse

Yup that was too easy to be true. Booted FallOut2 controller didn't respond... turned off controller and turned it back on my ring is blinking. Turned off my PC and controller... rebooted with usb devices off. Plugged in the gaming reciever and turned on my controller it synced. Went to control panel > gaming controllers and selected the controller... it didn't respond. (It used to respond to the controller when I first hooked it up.) Turned off my controller and and turned it back on... resynced it and it's the cursed blinking lights taunting me once more.

I can't get mine to connect. I am call MS and demanding i get a refund for this product. I am not a beta tester. If they test xbox live a it takes weeks to certify things why do they not do the same thing with theses products.

Because I do it with one small ship, I am called a terrorist. You do it with a whole fleet and are called an emperor.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I have been having trouble getting this to work as well, the problem where you hit the connect button and all 4 quadrants blink constantly more specifically.  After trying various things mentioned in this thread I plugged it into the hub built into my monitor (an Dell 2001fp) and it connected immediately.

I tried the pluging/unplugging of devices and everything else and nothing worked.  Just plugging it into my monitor worked fine though.  Don't know why this would make a difference.

I'm using a G15 and MX1000 btw, the G15 at least seems to be common in those with issues, so those that have one might want to try plugging the reciver into a USB hub (powered I assume) and see if anythign happens.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
Just wanted to make a update to my previous post.

I decided to double check and reboot the computer, the receiver is still connected.  Pulling the battery and reinserting it doesn't break its ability to connect either, the Logitech G15 software and Setpoint both work as expected as well.  This is on Windows Vista Home Premium, I don't have a copy of XP to test with though.

I suspect it has something to do with having the G15 and the Wireless receiver on the same USB hub.  My G15 is plugged directly into the computer while the receiver is now plugged into the monitor's hub, along with my mouse (for cable length reasons.)

Either way it seems to work fine now, so I'm happy.

Hrm..maybe I need to try a different hub because my D-Link self-powered hub doesn't seem to be giving me the results you guys are getting with the one built into the Dell monitors.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
That depends on what you mean by self powered.  When I say a powered hub I mean something that uses a power adapter of some sort as opposed to bus powered.  I assume you mean a powered hub though as the receiver shouldn't work on a bus powered hub, I checked.

However given that we know that two people now have fixed the issue by using a hub built into a dell monitor it might actually be related to problems with particular USB hubs.  Chipset problems perhaps.

I'm curious as to what chip runs the hub in my Dell monitor vs your D-link hub now.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

I've been reading various threads about this issue, as I am experiencing it also.

Cannot sync controller.

Consensus seems to be unplug all USB devices and reboot, with only the WGR plugged in, then plug in your devices.

My problem:  My only USB device is my Logitech Bluetooth receiver for my Logitech Mouse and Keyboard.  I can reboot, but I cannot login without these.

I will play with this tonight and update.

I will Reboot with only WGR in to login screen.  Plugin in Bluetooth receiver.  Login.  Test.  If you have to actually login to windows prior to the WGR drivers loading, theres no way to work this combination without removing the login requirement on your machine; not an option.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
UPDATE:  My problem is now half solved.

I separated my G15 and my USB hub so that they were on different USB controllers.  Also, I unplugged my MS Sidewinder Game Voice (I don't use it anymore anyway).

My problem NOW, is that when I turn on my wireless 360 gamepad, it shows up under Game Controllers as 'Wheel (Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows)'.

Ah well...so close.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

UPDATE:  Ok, problem may now be completely solved.

I went through my registry and deleted every entry of 'Wheel (Xbox 360 Wireless Reciever for Windows)', uninstalled the drivers, re-installed, and rebooted.

Plugged in the receiver and sync'd the controller no problem, and even my G15 works.

Next step?  See if it all works with my Nostromo n52 plugged in.

Next step after that?  See if I can get my MS Wireless Wheel to actually work in a game.

I'll keep this thread updated.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
Ok, so the wheel does NOT work in ANY of my racing games except for Flatout 2 (as they give you the option to select the game controller you wish to use).

But..no matter whether I use the Wheel or the Controller..THERE IS NO FORCE FEEDBACK in any game I play..racing or otherwise!

Gonna take a break and realize that I have fixed the problem pretty much as well as I can on my end...now for Microsoft to update their drivers to fix the bugs and to ADD force feedback support (which is advertised as already working on the product package and on the web site).

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

While you guys have problems with USB and Synching, I do not.

I use an external USB sound card (SB Extigy) and once I connect my receiver, everything synchs and works just FINE until I playback anything using my Extigy. I get crippling/dazzling/distorted sounds in whatever I play (again, only using Extigy), and I have to restart my computer with receiver unplugged to get it back to normal.

Question is, is this exactly the same problem as you guys have with multiple USB devices connected with Receiver at the same time? I assume it is, since there's no other explaination than "yes it conflicts because it is also a USB device like all others".

Oh and the restart-without-other-devices-connected trick doesn't work on me, neither connecting my receiver or sound card in a different USB bus. Any other ideas please?

Thank you.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

Guys this is my first post, of course  its about a problem. I too am having problems with my gaming reciever but I think its different from everyone elses so far. When my controller connects I loose audio, windows volume control says im using: Headset (Xbox 360 wireless rece, I dont even own a set. I can tell it to use rear audio output as normal but it makes no difference untill the controller turns off which takes forever unless I remove the batteries. My computer is a Compaq with a built in legacy audio card and it has Realtek HD audio software. My speakers are the crapy Compaq mini bookshelves that came with the computer, they hook up to the audio cards rear output jack and uses a USB port; im guessing as a power source.

I finally figured out that in order for my controller to work, I have to have my usb keyboard unpulgged. So now, I have to decide between my keyboard or my controller?! Thanks Microsoft for your great drivers. I have a Saitek Eclipse keyboard, and my controller only works when the board is unplugged!

A really dissapointing product.

I've spend $80 for receiver and wireless headset to use with my ventrilo, just to do what it was promised for and I get nothing. Do NOT tell me its a new product and still buggy, what you pay Q.A. team for?

Well done MS, you made us proud again.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I just bought the gaming receiver and as soon as the drivers get installed
all of my USB devices shut down, mouse stops working, keyboard LCD freezes and
plantronics headphones go silent.  its not the keyboard, mouse, headphones or any
other device fault. its the receiver's fault. all of the other devices were working perfectly
the reciever's documentation is horrible. the manual links to the MS support site
and its useless. no information about this problem at all. and after reading this thread
I'm kinda happy that I'm not the only one having problems.
after probably 12 straight hours of phone calls, reading forums and just
rebooting and plugging and unplugging devices and trying what other
people tried, i just gave up

I can't believe this product got approved for release.  somebody at MS better get fired for this debacle
this is ridiculous, its a MS product working under a MS OS. there is no excuse other
somebody messed up. if someone should know how to make stuff for windows. should be MS

and now.  same as vista's release. and all the issues with nvidia drivers and opengl support
we have to wait until we get stable and working drivers.
whql is totally useless when drivers like this are signed and are worthless

I'm a Microsoft fan. but i can't deny that currently this product has some serious problems.

Update:

If i unplug my bluetooth receiver (USB) and reboot with WGR as the only plugged in USB device, the controller sinks, even before i log into windows.  I have to connect my bluetooth to login, the mouse and keyboard work, until windows loads up, and during the windows loading process, the mouse and kb go dead, but the controller is still synced.  I can only get my kb and mouse working again by rebooting with the bluetooth receiver in.

Bottom line, i cant use my KB, Mouse, and WGR at the same time, so while i can sync the controller, I cant do jack afterwards.

Has anyone been successful getting WGR to work with logitech MX-5000 desktop?  (MX-1000 mouse and keyboard).

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems

Mine worked for about four weeks flawlessly with both a controller and headset on the original cd drivers.  However, a couple days ago neither device will sync.  I've updated to the latest driver and still no sync.  No new devices or software has been installed which could have caused this problem.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I've had no problem syncing my controllers or wheel to the PC, but I for some reason NFS Carbon on the PC refuses to see the wheel even though it will work with the pad. It appears in the control panel so I assume it's something wierd with the wheel. Anyone else seen anything like that?
Also, I agree that there should be a way to turn off peripherals when connected to the Wireless controller - I hate yanking the battery/power to turn them off.
Finally, does anyone else find that the pad wanders when at centre? Imho, the controller is just too sensitive, but when you play on the 360, it ignores the very centre of the stick (a dead zone, for want of a better term) so you don't see a wander.

It's a realy shame that everyone's experiencing issues with the adapter - it's a great concept but I feel that the PC drivers could do with a little more work.

Re: xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver problems
I was puzzled last night when I couldn't get anything to sync up, but after reading this thread I'm pretty sure it's due to this apparent conflict between the Saitek keyboards and the WGR.  Has anyone figured out a workaround for this yet?  It sounds like putting them on separate USB controllers might work; however, I don't think I have a USB hub around, so I'm not sure if I can reproduce that.
