I have no problem personally with DRM. Even though it could be handled better, I understand the need for it. The only issue I have is when the DRM is broken. It's broken for Carcassone DLC, and everyone should know it before they purchase it.

I'm just concerned with this thread devolving into pros/cons for DRM, or combining the issue into a global DRM arguement.. because I think it might water down the problem. I don't want it to be overlooked as 'just another DRM thread' by developers (should they ever visit the forum). :)

Oh man, I'm so glad that I found this thread. I've been going crazy the last couple of days trying to get Carcassonne working. It's my favorite XBLA game. Now I know it's because of the RROD and Microsoft's DRM. Here's hoping to a speedy solution by Microsoft or swift legal action by the gaming community.

So, I got a call from "Jeff" from MS special support team this morning.  It was in response to the many phone call complaints I've made, and my complaint filed with the BBB.  He told me to create a new Silver account, and that he'd call back tomorrow and credit that account 10,000 points!  Holy crap, and this was just to make me happy about my one game expansion that didn't work.  I was suprised because I heard that they had ceased all points credits because of fraud, and would only do license transfers now.  But whatever, I'll take what I can get.

So for anyone who feels powerless against MS, don't give up when tech support lies to you repeatedly, and flex your consumer brainpower and file with the BBB.

yeah i got 10,000 points too but..... - i spent 17,700 before the system crashed and they still owe me 7,700 and i have no idea when or if i will get it.

That sucks.  I guess I was lucky to have not pumped more than 10g into Live in the first place.  My suggestion is to only rebuy the stuff you absolutely want to play offline.  Then buy new stuff with the remaining points.  The only way to really gank MS for anything more than what you already paid for.

At last !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its fixed !!!!!! But you do have to download the expansion again after the update. Then you won't get the corrupted message anymore! Hurray!

it is only fixed for the rivers 2 pack....the king and the baron pack still generate the expansion load failed error....they almost had it

ALL DRM VICTIMS PLEASE READ:

Last Night I got a call from xbox telling me that DRM was fixed and after redownloading about 46 arcade games, I can honestly say that the DRM was fixed. Or so it appears to be right now.

I have been through many complaints to xbox and the BBB.  And yesterday they assured me that is was fixed.  So I got off the phone a doubter and redownload some games that are known for horrible DRM such as Carcassonne (with all content), Sonic the Hedgehog, Double Dragon, Speedball 2 (with all content) and Bomberman (with all content).  Then I logged in as a account I created locally called "Guest" and all games were now full versions.

So I redownloaded everything I ever purchased on my original console (which was indeed a pain)  but the outcome was worth it.  I made sure all games worked properly too by playing them for a few minutes each.  And they all did.

So maybe it does take some work but I can tell you that a huge doubter and complainer like myself has actually seen this work with my own eyes.  Go to your memory tab and delete the actual game and expansions from there.  Any save games files can remain on your hard drive.  Then go to the marketplace and redownload it from there.  Don't just redownload the content on top of the content you already have.  You have to actually delete the games first for it to work.  Then you will have to open all games and download the title updates for each one.  But I can tell you, it does work.

I will be posting this exact message in a few different places, so please don't write it off as spamming.  I just don't want to re-type this like 10 times.  Thanks and good luck to all.  I hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. I was waiting on confirmation like this before going thru the hassle of redownloading all over again. Very happy it's fixed and that we can finally put this to rest. ;)

Yes, they released a fix. Autoupdate your Carcassonne and then redownload the DLC.

Woohoo!  They finally fixed this issue!  When I started Carcassonne the other day I was able to use my expansion without any extra downloading or anything, what a surprise!  I guess all it took for them to fix this issue was a few complaints filed by the BBB!!!  Thanks Microsoft/Sierra
