Wow, a lot of people a dissappointed that these games wont have achievements, have people every heard playing a game for fun! I will be buying all these games the same as I bought all of the XBLA games for one simple reason these games have gameplay!

Sure I play for fun, thats why we play games. Its just for that price I'll get the real disc for less money. I can see how this will cater to people that don't have the original though.

might cater to people that dont have the original... i am satisfied with the whole BC thing having a few bugs b/c i already payed for those games, i can always play them on my original xbox, and of course MS did the best they could since they were forced into running emulations b/c of hardware differences... y would i pay for this kind of sub standard service though? im glad they did it for BC discs (but that was expected of them since the competition offers the same thing) i would never pay for this shoddy service though

I just want to say that I think Microsoft and Xbox are turning their backs to their loyal customers by not putting in the extra effort to have Xbox Live Support for Halo.

Ever since the inception of Xbox Live Halo fans have been calling for this progression. Microsoft and Xbox Live are now presented with the oportunity to please their fans and make a buck doing it and they again disregard calls from the people they owe their jobs to. They call Xbox live a community, but it is nothing of the sort, it is whatever they want it to be, I think MS can easily gain more revenue and make fans happier and possibly more loyal to xbox if they actually listened to the people that bought their products.

At the very least, tell us you thought about it and give us a viable reason for why you didn't. You owe us that.

Will this soon mean that MS will be charging via this service for future backwards compatible games instead of doing it for free? I guess that is what happens when you let someone from EA take over Peter Moore's job tho huh? God I miss that man! Xbox has been going down hill ever since he left. -cries-

I also feel sorry for our american friends because we will get video marketplace this year and ther biggest update will be this crap.

I aint gona be buying this, and MajorNelson has confirmed that there will be NO achievements on these games.
MajorNelson said:
'I have gotten quite a few questions about yesterday’s Xbox Originals announcement. Specifically, folks want to know if these games will have additional functionality like Achievements and Gamer score. The answer is no. These are the original games that were created before Xbox 360. In order to preserve the integrity of the original gaming experience they provide, they will have the features available at the time of their initial release. I hope that clears that up.'
Im my opinion, i think that was one bs excuse... they have ruined the Fall Update, and i aint gona be spending 10pounds for one game, to play it through and get no achievements, no online, no HD, nothing extra. Way a go MS Sad [:(]

Re: Welcome!

I hope you know that if you added xbox live to  Halo CE, I would almost be willing to pay the original price for it again, wich equals money ($$$$$$$) for you, Microsoft. I also have to say that I still have my halo CE disc and I have no intention to pay you $15 for the same game I already have, even if it does not require a disc.  If you really think that I am going to pay you for doing nothing to the game then you are sadly mistaking. Many halo fans would likely do the same.

Enjoy the full game experience without having to root through bins of used games. And all at a single, affordable price that makes getting onto Xbox LIVE a reason to stay home and play.

It must be rough for people like Trixie & Major Nelson who are aware of the xbox community and have to sling company lines like this and read the backlash.

News flash -  The original xbox Halo:CE was popular in the long term because of online play

reason: they thought about doing the work... but it was way easier to just throw the emulations they already were using for BC at us and pretend that it was a cool feature...

i was so excited by this feature than i read the independent article that stated something like "xbox originals not launched, Microsoft already warning about problems" now im just a bitter customer... why even pretend like this is a worthwhile feature MS?

No, this isn't a new or updated game with new code. This is the classic Halo: Combat Evolved. The coolness is that you can download it over Xbox LIVE--you don't have to mess with a disc.

No offense... but is this for real?  That is what is considered "cool" about this?  Seriously??  Really??

Re: Welcome!
well Since the game would have to be rewritten in order to support XBL, I wonder, just wonder, if XBL-classic emulation is somehow going to support Internet system-link games. In other words, since the 360 is emulating an Xbox classic, perhaps the emulation could also be written to support/use a MS-written or licensed 3rd party type of tunneling software.

That way, any pre-XBL titles would be "playable" online, but not need to each be re-written with full XBL support or certification

PLZ read Microsft
PLZ add online play/achivment point.  Even if we have to wait one more year it would be worth it for both us and Microsoft.  I think every one on this forum or on Xbox Live would tell u the same thing.  If u did add these fetures you would to just halo that game would most deffenitly be the most downloaded game ever and break one more recored in sales.  PLZ PLZ Listen we dont want the origanals that you are offering.  We all have Live PLZ let us use it and play together online, and as for achivment point if it ant broke dont fix it.  In other words PLZ dont change the formula.  We bought it for the 360 and achivment *** would be =' (

A great idea but poor implementation. If the titles at least had achievements, it would be an improvement.

OMG I WILL DIE IF I HAVE TO PUT A DISK IN MY XBOX PUTING A DISK IN IS SOOOOO MUCH EFFORT (sarcasm) do you really think that people will buy halo on XBL market place and waste there money and memory space so that they dont have to put a disk in their xbox. if you give it XBL abilities it will be a gold mine. i would pay $60 for halo 1 with XBL though i wouldnt really want to spend that much but

No Acheivments?
I was excited when i saw halo, and i would have happily payed 1200 points for it but then i hear there is no acheivments? i dont realy care about online, it would be nice, but i would pay for it without it. but im not paying for a game i had for 6 and a half years (which most people also have) without something new to draw me in, and that would be acheivments. at least make it worth our while!

Re: Welcome!
Yeah, straight ports of the games kinda water down my enthusiasm for the idea of downloadable original xbox games.  Especially since some of the initial games listed can still easily be purchased for less than the download cost.
Also, you can resell a physical game to recoup some of your money once your over the glee of playing an original xbox game on the 360.

There is also the issue that most people have either no hard drive or the 20GB flavor which means for most of us with updates and some XBLA games on their hd's space is at a premium.  I guess I'm gonna give this entire announcement my personal rating of     "meh"

Now if only this announcement mentioned a hefty price drop on the 120GB drives...

Just to let you know (if you didn't already) that if the Xbox games were treated like Arcade games with Online & Achievements it would be a huge amount of $$$ for the service.

Now that I know we can't connect to our friends through LIVE, you lost 30+ people on my list that would of forked over the $15.

Looks like I'll just be picking up (err...downloading) the single player games, is there a release date schedule in the works?

I'd say more like lost half the target market.

Come on Microsoft... You spoiled us with an amazing online service 5 years ago. You spoiled us with achievements. You spoiled us with all the other enmities you ingeniously though of. Why take us back before all of this and expect us not to complain?

Retaining original integrity and ingenuity? That's the most creative explanation for laziness I have ever heard of.

I think it's absolutely HILARIOUS that this is the cornerstone of their 5 year anniversary.  This is like the laughing stock of the internet right now.

Pay more for a virtual game than owning the real thing.  Will use up your hard disk and have probably more bugs than with the original DVD games.  Download via XBL but it has no XBL functionality!!!  But hey, there is something cool though.  You don't have to "mess with discs" anymore.   Whoooooa
