I disagree. When I started playing COD 3 I noticed I got far fewer friend requests and less team play. I guess it was because of so many plaerys you would only kill the same person a few times in a game.

I suppose that is true if you play bigger games. usually happened in war and I would get less notice or friend requests and team talk would be minimal. But I usualy played SCTF in matches maybe 8 or less on each team. You can't blame it on the game it's just how you play and what you play really.

It's probably the same with his comment. He was probably playing something like Team Deathmatch. If he would have played something like S&D he probably would have seen more communication. Or even Team Tactical, 3-3 and game types that require tactics to win there's A LOT of talking in that.

Re: Long Live COD3 - COD4 on-line play Boring
The one thing I really love about CoD3 is the "War" gametype.

I like the "Sabotage" gametype of CoD4 well enough, but the relatively small maps kind of kills the fun for me, because it basically devolves into each side lobbing grenades at each other and just runnin'n'gunnin'. The same goes for Search and Destroy and Domination games as well.

Someone mentioned there is less team communication in non-clan games in CoD4, which I find to be true as well. The problem is that the maps are so small, and the radar covers such a wide area that frequently you don't need teammates calling out positions because you can see the enemy either in your field of vision or on the radar. Unless you are playing Tactical or Search and Destroy, there is really not much of a need to call out locations because everyone can pretty much see everything that is going on.

Anyway, I like both CoD3 and CoD4 but find myself getting much more frustrated while playing CoD4 (and I'm usually at least in the Top 3 in Team Deathmatch , FFA or Domination games). They need the War gametype and bigger maps.

I think you guys are being WAY to nitpicky.... they are both good games with many strongpoints and can co-exist together quite well, COD4 Online is easily the best thing I've played since CS though.

No im not tyvm. U dont know what FFA stands for? hahaha wow! FFA is Free For All, i found it more challenging than the team games as im not fond of paying with randoms and they dont call where they die, call out enemies, i tried all the gametypes and found relying on myself better.

COD3 does require you to play very differently and I feel that it does take more skill.  (my opinion of course)

When I first started playing COD4 multiplayer, the first thing I thought was, "Dang, everybody's awesome at this game."  And I didn't think that in a good way.  How could everyone be so good at a game that has been out for a week or so?

It's because COD4's multiplayer has been severely dumbed down.  Anyone can pick it up and rack up kill after kill.  It's because of the automatic weapons and the small map layouts.

You couldn't do that in COD3.  In COD3, it took time to get good.  And I felt proud when I got better and better at it with the different weapons.  When you won a game in COD3, you felt a surge of triumph because you worked together with your team to get the win.

I don't feel any of that in COD4.

You nailed it right there.  The game is dumbed down and it's too easy to kill, especially if you camp in one of the many dark corners hidden away in these poorly designed maps.  The perks are generally silly and the lack of one-shot headshots removes yet another incentive to improve.  The game grows boring very quickly, unlike COD3 (or COD2) where you can feel yourself improve and the matches feel epic.  In COD4, I rarely care about winning or losing.  For some reason, it just doesn't seem to matter.  In COD3, you could feel the tide of the games (War and CTF, especially) turning and it really became quite immersive.  I loved it.

Im really liking COD4 but its nothing on COD3.

And you hit the nail on the head about one-shot headshots. nothing better than with a KAR-98. COD4 is spray and pray in comparison.  and whats everyone talking about saying COD4 maps are bigger than COD3's? 3's were huge in comparison. as for epic matches. exactly. do i care if i lose on COD4? not really. i cared in COD3, alot.

why dont i care? i dont know but it surely says something about overall fun of the game

im looking forward to COD5 already and going back to WW2 and Treyarch!!

the maps on COD4 are smaller we know that, n it depends on wht wep you use, better players spray very little. I only spray when its through a wall with a LMG thts it. I doubt they would go bakc to another WW2 shooter the genre is stale, i wont buy cod4 if they make it another WW2 shooter.

Im gonna get flamed out for this but i dont care.

COD4 rocks compared to COD3. The only reason why i played it as it was the first game i got and i had nothing else to play. The WW2 genre is getting stale and old and another WW2 COD game would have been awful. All i play is shooters, Halo, GRAW, COD, R6V, BF2, Gears and many others so i aint bias 2 one game. COD3 was my least favorite next to GRAW. I got soo bored of COD3 its stayed on myshelf almost since i got it. COD4 has not been dumbed down. If you play more team based gametypes like Seach and Destroy it requires teamwork and communication. COD4 resparked my clan in2 playing a game together after R6V.  If you want to play with friends on opposite teams make a private game and you can select your team. When im playing with a whole clan team we communcate where we are and where they enemy is, if you die you call out where u died = simple teamwork. Its the same in every shooter ive played. If you just play with randoms it will be every man for himself. When i played COD3 with friends i still hated it. Found the vehicles in it cheap and lame, both the SP and MP didnt go for me. COD4 will stay in my 360 for months to come. Btw never had a problem with entering games or lag for that matter. The game handles lag very well and never have to lead shots like you do in gears.

If you dont like seing urself be killed by a nub press X and skip it straight away and you respawn faster as well. Playing againts other good clans in matches is far better than paying nubs.

COD4 got 2 awards in the 2007 gaming awards. Best FPS and best Military based game. COD3 never got any and the change to IW said everything. They realised they had made a mistake and gave some1 else a chance, IW made a much better job. COD3 was a flop and was a disgrace to the series.

No flaming here.

The part about playing with friends is a good point.  However, there are problems with COD4 private chat system.  Also the lag is so upsetting to everyone that most of the time I just hear my teammates *** about the lag and bad connections.

As far as leading shot, where do you lead them?  The person lagging may be moving in any direction; that's why the single shot weapons in COD4 suck.  Best to use automatic weapons and spray to and fro from the hip.  This way you may be able to make up for the lag.  And believe me there is a lot of lag in COD4 you just can see it like in COD3.  Look at the kill cam the next time you are killed; you'll see it.

I still play both games, but for me COD3 rocks COD4.  I don't expect people to feel the same, but if you read this entire posting at least you will understand why people prefer COD3.

I also believe that you did not play enough on-line COD3.  There is a real sense of accomplishment at mastering the different kits as opposed to getting achievements and better weapons.  It takes a long time to get good at COD3 you need to learn the large COD3 maps and master the kits.  In COD4, it took about 1 day of on-line play without even playing single player to get good.  I rank 1st or 2nd with mild lag, within the top 4 with minimal lag, but with the usual severe lag I can rank from 4 to last.  I jump out of games once I see that the lag is really bad and try to get into a game that isn't lagging too much, but it's hard to find one.

Maybe I'll get to play you in COD4 sometime or even COD3, perhaps.

I always preferred COD3 over COD2 in both online and offline play, and I feel the same way now in regards to COD4. The online is OK but COD3's is better, and let's not kid ourselves, the COD4 storyline is cliched cookie cutter rubbish. It had a few good moments in there admittedly but for the most part it was rot, and not even remotely original rot. They may as well have based the game on a real conflict, as they have proven they have all the creative writing ability of a handless retard in a sack. How many times do I have to stop some wanker from firing a missile anyway? COD4, GRAW2, R6V, etc etc. We get it, missiles are bad. Can we move on now?

Bring on COD5!

I still think the most fun I've ever had on XBL was a late Saturday night playing in a (random!) 60 minute CTF player match on Mayenne.  The game went back and forth with very even teams and everyone on my team played relatively well together to build up a lead.  However, the other team managed to take our flag in the last minute to tie it up and give them the victory on points.

Inexplicably my team had left, leaving me to fend off a number of onrushing enemies.  If I remember correctly, I took out 4 or 5, but the last made it through.  What a rush, though! Big Smile [:D]  I think I gained two friends from that match.

I play COD 4 now but I'll still stand up for COD 3, it is very fun online. COD 4 needs a War gametype, you would think with the fifty gametypes they have, there would be a war one.  The sniper rifle in COD 4 sucks, you can't hit s%&# with it. As far as single player goes, Veteran on COD 3 is much harder, I could get nowhere on that game on Veteran. Vet on COD4 is hard but you can do it.

I see you've conveniently ignored the fact that Infinity Ward, developers of the game, feel there *is* a problem with the sniper rifles and are addressing it in a patch.  But I guess it's possible you know more about the game than they do.

I see you've conveniently ignored the fact that Infinity Ward, developers of the game, feel there *is* a problem with the sniper rifles and are addressing it in a patch.  But I guess it's possible you know more about the game than they do.

I know there is a problem with the snipers but ur connection like every other game when playing online has an effect.

True that, I'm getting so bored of it, the only thing that may keep me around until CoD5 are the tourneys coming up.

Just because you like or dislike dosent mena everyone feels the same way so sorry to burst your bubble i didint mind cod3 i liked it better than 2 maybe but yeah

I think the word "turd" fits perfectly for you! I hate morons like you that are probably 12 years old and just make assumptions without knowing the real truth!

COD 5 will be made by treyarch and COD 3 wasn't that bad imo, i enjoyed it a lot. Especially the mp. I agree that IW is better for the series but i appreciate both devs.

Re: Long Live COD3 - COD4 on-line play Boring

I popped in my CoD3 CD and decided to play some war with a friend of mine and man... I can't believe I let this game catch dust.

Im lvl 54 on CoD4 and it's the same *** over and over in the game. The game is still fun, but damn it's so repetative.

I love the fact that CoD 3's blur when aiming is more realistic, and the ability to survive grenades and have little to no vision but have the ability to fight back with only the sound of your heart beating amazes me. CoD 4 does this, but it isnt as appealing and your chances are higher with grenades killing you from longer distances.

But...They are two different beasts and I respect that. Im just amazed at how I stopped playing this game for months in order to play other games.

Folks who quote what I wrote get choked.

Re: Long Live COD3 - COD4 on-line play Boring
We went away to my parents' house for New Year's Eve', and my son got a belated birthday present of COD4.  We got back home today, and all the way back in the car (and pretty much all whilst we were away) all I was thinking about was playing COD3 online, ranked team death match.  I haven't been addicted like this to a game for years and years.

We got home and kiddie stuck COD4 on.  To say I was unimpressed was an understatement.  I was just waiting for his bedtime so I couls stick COD3 on and get back to some serious action!

It's definitely the WWII thing for me.  COD4 shouldn't be part of the same franchise - it's just milking the franchise cash-cow and that annoys me some...  It may be a great game in it's own right, but step away from the COD name, please.
