After much frustration and beating pretty much every level at least 4 times I finally got the damn golden bird and fulfilled the whole 970!! I am not sure what the deal is with that achievement but something is up with it. I have no idea what finally caused it to unlock in the end since I tried so many things. I found all the birds without doing a walkthrough but when I didn't get the achievement I used walkthroughs for the next two runs through the game to make sure I got all the birds the first time through a level. I would say that the last thing I did was to clear out all the save games and to start a new game. When I got to the last bird on level 2, I got the little *pling* as the achievement unlocked. My hands went up in pure bliss and I trumpeted my elation for the world to hear. It was a great game, though, and I look forward to the next one. And I did not understand the melee mayhem achievement. At first I thought it was for one level. I played a whole level and found every single melee weapon and firearm for that level. That means I looked for EVERY single weapon on the level, I even picked up the weapons that other characters wielded. Then when I realized it was for the whole game, I nearly flipped out. When I learned that you just needed to use every weapon once, my sigh of relief could be heard from the moon!! This was a great game no matter how you cut it though.
