Yeah, it's a Phisher.

I just reported the GT though the Zune site; I doubt any action will be taken, but it's worth a shot. Hopefully no one will fall for this and give him their information.

Oh well it makes me sick because i know that this guy is doing this and getting accounts everyday. And i don't understand why there is no system in place to take this guy down. O well ill post what the fisher sent me when i told him he was going to jail first ill post the original message again and then the latter.

I was searching the net for Xbox 360 phishing and wouldn't you know microsoft is on the record saying something like this.  We are aware of people posing as Customer Support..  And they are sending people messages on there 360 and redirecting them to a website that apears to be microsoft passport. or something like that and the victims are lead to entering there email and password.

When i called 18004myxbox.  And told them about AccountSupport sending me the message they kept on rephrasing it as Customer Support would not send you this message.  I would correct her and say no Account Support sent me this message. And she would say Sir Customer Support would not send this message.

On the site i went to Microsoft Promised to refund any victims of the phishing scam with all the Microsoft points arcade games and any DLC they may have lost at no charge.   But nowhere did it say how i could report the GUY WHO COULD BE BEHIND ALL OF THIS ACCOUNTSUPPORT.  Microsoft must be real stupid ...

Another original thread locked while the rude ones collect over 800 responses, whoever the moderator is for general discussion should have his/her mod status stripped away for locking threads that are not repetitive, contain no foul language or flame wars.

"Man that guy won't stop using that freakin rifle grenade!!"
"What the heck, I shot him 1st!!!"
"This match is making my blood boil!!"

Just a few of the many rants heard in just about all multiplayer games.I know that games can get very emotional at times, and gamers tend to get upset.Remember though, its only a game.If someone is ruining your k/d ratio it won't affect anything in the real world. When you lose over 3 matches, your teacher will not give you detention, your boss will not fire you, letting other gamers dictate your emotions by their actions in a game, should be a signal that its time to take a break.Eat a snack,go outside, spend some time with some real friends or family.

I know of many times when a game not just a multiplayer one,but even a single player campaign, has got me so upset I nearly crack my controller.Save point is just around the corner but the path to it keeps killing me,I've got this boss down to hardly any life and with one move he knocks my life meter empty. So many things occur in games that frustrate gamers to no end.

Lately for me the answer is simple,in mp games I don't really care if I lose or what my k/d ratio is,but when my friends start complaining about the same stuff over and over,I can tell they are either tired or hungry, because normally they could care less about what they are ranting about. So I suggest to them to grab a hot pocket or take a 5 minute smoke break, and it works, they come back, then complaint free for a few more hours.Occasionally the will get so angry that they lash out at others on the team, thats when we all suggest to that person to shut off the game and we'll see him/her another day,if that makes them more upset and they can't take a little practical advice, then we will just quit and leave them to game with themselves. If they don't they are ruining the experience for others then it might just be time to delete that person from the friendlist.

I was curious as to how many ppl have faced gamer rage or have had it themselves and what they do about it?

Please let me know why this was locked, there are no other threads like it except one titled "What pisses you off about online?" that title alone should be grounds for locking it??

My thread is about what do users do to control their rage as well as what makes them angry online.

The moderator was most likely just trying to prevent any escalation. The general boards are usually the most visited and that's usually where new users and guests go first, so you may find that it will be a little stricter there because of increased moderator/new user presence (in hopes to keep a positive environment to encourage posting). There was also a great deal of cursing/semi-cursing in there, and at a glance it could be perceived as a rant thread.

Personally I'd just move on and keep posting. You may or may not get a message from "x" moderator, but remember that even though one may perceive the thread as perfectly fine, another may see it completely differently because of past experiences.

This is about innocent threads post once or twice vs vulgar threads which are all over the forums.
 1. My topic was "Too Many Threads On this Topic",it was pointed out to me in less than 24hrs that there was a pinned thread on this topic, then it was locked.Even if there is 1 or 2 other threads on this topic, why lock them when there are plenty of topics which have over 50 threads on them for mods to check out. There are also 50+ threads with gamers using vulgarity in the titles and content that go untouched for days.Where my original thread barely went 24hrs and had nothing vulgar or unsavory in it,and it was locked.
Do mods pick and choose what needs to be locked?
2. Do they favor 1 forum member over another?
3. I personally found a thread with the word BS spelled out in the title,it disappeared only after I pointed it out to one of those guys that had a check mark in his gamercard. It seems that mods or mod minions could very easily just put vulgar words in the search and find more threads like these, they could even put in words that ppl use to represent those unsavory words in the search. Most of us know the euphisms that can bypass the filter, and if you put them in the search you'll more than likely run into a ess H eye tea load of them.
Only after locking threads that deserve locking should a mod start picking apart the one they see by users they may not like for one reason or another.I am sure the threads that have vulgar 3 word stories or are degrading anyone of a certain race, gender,or creed will always keep the mods busy enough, where as those that have decent input and no arguing should be left alone.
4. Why lock innocent threads, while the ones that are completely against everything in the CoC go untouched?
5. Don't say that the mods are too busy to find unsavory threads and ones that are decent are easier to find.Maybe the mods should utilize the search themselves, practice what they preach, find those threads like"this or that game is fecal" or "avoid so-n-so he glitches".There are so many of these type threads and lots of ways to word them.Use the search you too will find alot more than you see under active forums(which seems to be the only area mods actually check).

1. Having more than one topic on a single subject will clutter the first page of a forum and prevent users/guests from finding a subject that has been knocked to the second page.

2. No, all forum members are treated equally. There are a couple exceptions though, but they only apply if the user is well known and has been an active member for sometime:
- A forum member known for spam/vulgar posts will probably get a stricter punishment if he has just gotten back from a previous ban, or has recently got a talking to.
- A forum member who doesn't post off-topic, reports frequently and exhibits behavior not in his/her normal manner. He/she would probably get a warning or a talking to about the post, but if the attitude continues he/she would receive the same punishment as another user.

3. If you search those terms most of them have been filtered, aren't in an attacking post, are months old, or have already been taken care of. If they haven't been taken care of they usually will be, or you can do your part and report them. :)

4. If a thread is against the CoC and a mod sees it, it will be locked. Here's a post on why your "innocent threads" may have been locked.

5. They do, and no, they aren't able to catch every thread. Even if they search, the search doesn't always show the offensive threads right away. For the amount of mods we have, the amount of threads created each day, and considering the fact that the mods do this voluntarily.. I think they do a very nice job.
Here is a thread on the same topic that I wrote about that has lasted since early March....
http://forums.xbox.com/26054594/ShowPost.aspx

I reported it without posting at 1st then again with a short comment, and then I reported it after adding the real reason it is allowed to gather comments. The mods here pretend they are all about community and helping others, when actually they are a bunch of college kids on power trips. There needs to be a better way to report threads and less abuse of mod power.Who do you report biased mods too?

The reporting system is about the best it could possibly be, and threads such as the one you posted aren't locked because most of the discussion is healthy(yours was on LIVE, and the first post was already filled with cursing. It was probably just locked as a precaution because posts that start with foul language usually follow with attacking/harsh posts.). Now that thread still may become locked, but only if a mod sees it and they don't like the direction that the thread is going, or think it will go based on other similar threads.

Remember: there are many mods on this forum, and odds are that a different mod handled your report than the mod that locked your original thread. So there really isn't bias, it's just a different person acting with alternate moderation methods.

Re: Reporting Guide (Forums, Phishing, Username, and XBL)

I'm new here, so bare with me please.

One of my friends has been banned from Xbox Live of having offensive content in his profile. I know for a fact that this is impossible. We are both members of the same private group on Bungie.net and we have to follow specific criteria regarding our profiles. I have checked his profile on several occasions, as well as just before he got banned.

I am confident that is is a mistake and I'd like to know it is possible to get someone to look into this issue. He is an important member of our community, and is now forced to use an alternate gamertag and is unable to load the Legendary maps thus making it nearly impossible for us as a group to do much of anything in Halo 3 matchmaking.

I would appreciate any information you may have, or any help you may be able to offer.

Taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing

 Wikipedia wrote:
In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites, auction sites, online payment processors or IT Administrators are commonly used to lure the unsuspecting public. Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging,[1] and it often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one. Even when using server authentication, it may require tremendous skill to detect that the website is fake. Phishing is an example of social engineering techniques used to fool users,[2] and exploits the poor usability of current web security technologies.[3] Attempts to deal with the growing number of reported phishing incidents include legislation, user training, public awareness, and technical security measures.

A phishing technique was described in detail in 1987, and the first recorded use of the term "phishing" was made in 1996. The term is a variant of fishing,[4] probably influenced by phreaking,[5]Devil [6] and alludes to baits used to "catch" financial information and passwords.

How do I report a player for phishing account info?  When I went to his profile, the file complaint part had nothing to do with that, so I very well couldn't report him for something he didn't do.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
