Use Major Ruin to get into focus and kill off Doom Trolls. It will make it immensely easier after you get the hang of his movement while he's spinning in Cyclone.

Wait hold on I got 19 million on the first level and I didn't get any gamescore points? How come?

I would like to thank Draekon and B Smo0th for the awesome guides, tips and videos. They have helped me tremendously. Ever since I saw the first video on Thorn's Castle, something clicked and the game just made more since to me. I would always get hit, not worry about my multipliers, run from enemies or not try to get into focus mode, but now I'm pretty much living in focus. Just yesturday I got 153 million on Thorn's Castle with my first attempt, which was pretty good since I hadn't busted out Kameo for a couple months and now the 'A' Rankings are coming naturally. My first yesterday, and two today. Now I am downloading the Water and Snow Temple videos and will be attempting them this weekend for I will be on a field trip for the rest of the week. For anyone who has not watched these videos or tried the 'A' Rankings, do so and it makes the game so much easier. Once again, great job!!!

I watched the Water Temple video a few times but I must be missing something.  I can make it to the end of the level with 60+ brutals, a ton of carnages, and a few dozen frenzies and I still can't clear 10 million.

The video doesn't show any doom trolls so I've been under the assumption that it can be done without them.  I guess that isn't the case.  I'm going to try and make them appear at the very end of the level and see what happens.

your watching the wrong video.   use the file front one.  the rapid share one messed up and i did not watch it before i posted it.

 

water temple is really easy.  just kill so that you get brutals and frenzies the avoid the arrows shot at you.  and as long as you kill the big fire troll quickly with out loosing your maltipliers you will be alright.  after you spin the wheel in each room trolls will spawn form the windows.  in the second room use major ruins splin just like on thorns castle.

i am so happy i got the thorns castle ranking finally with 48.8 million points

i've got a question, i do everything on forgotten forest right up til the end pretty good, and then when you guys say to go back to the troll spawn and do it in the video, i can't get back there.  The vines are up and i can never leave the last section to go to the previous ones.  Is there something I have to do to make them go down. thanks

they changed that with the update i believe.  dont know why they would do that with out reseting the leader boards for that level..... but you can not longer do that.  its still easy to get an A just probably impossible to set the really hight scores (like top 3 or 4)

I didn't realize they did that for the normal A ranking.  I did notice it for the co-op A and about crap.

It seems that filefront is down now,...right when I need it. I'm doing alright on the Water Temple, but can't seem to get 17 million. I've been using the rapidshare videos and know that they are outdated so I'm out of luck for now.

I just completed the Water Temple with ease with 36,318,249 in 20 mins. It's not hard, just hard when reading an outdated guide and not knowing it until you've done it. Filefront is still down.

Damn, I can't get Forgotten Forest. I have tried but I can't get over 5 million. I keep losing multiplyers to the trolls. This level is definitely the hardest. I really have trouble with Pummelweed's jabs. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I would say 50% of the time I get a hit and the other I get my butt kicked by the trolls. Any advice to not getting clobbered while using pummelweed?

It really takes a while to get use to him. You shouldn't stop moving to combo, but instead move while combing. (Of course the very end of the combo forces you to stop for a second or two)

 

Circular motions around the groups of enemies works best in my opinion. Especially for how the Doom Trolls AI reacts if you're using him for Doom Trolls. Works just as well against any other trolls in there except for the archer and shield trolls really.

Eventually the guide will need editing on the text to at least show the latest changes that the patch brought. It may be a while and the videos may or may not be redone, that's up to B.

I don't know if this is allowed here, but an easy way to get and A on Thorn's Pass (If you want to get the points soon and take the rest of the level easy), is...

After you have killed the dragons right after the glass jaw troll, turn into 40 Below and Go out onto that little strip of ground and bring up a snowball. Use your earthquake when a troll gets near. If you have gotten into Focus mode enough before, doom trolls should automaticly appear and get thrown off the edge by you earthquake getting you Carnage, Brutal and Frenzy combo multipliers.

Do this until no more doom trolls are spawning. You'll have an A ranking score at this point with pretty high combo multipliers. Take the rest of the level smooth and you got it.

They're not my videos. Also, use up a 'ton' of HDD space? They aren't that big, unless you have a 10GB or smaller HDD. o_O

 

Streaming isn't something I'm really supporting with these videos and Google is a place that I'll never host any videos at personally. It's up to B though, and I don't think he really wants to upload them anymore.

Well, it seems really high at first and most people (myself included) got very low scores when we first started. However, over time we figured out some tricks among other things and pushed our score up quite high. I think I still hold the #1 all time ranking on Thorn's Castle with a score of 1,690,000,000 approximately. Dmbledore (sp?) on these forums is pretty high up there too, as is B Smooth.

 

This thread B and I compiled should give you everything you need (videos included) to achieve at least A ranking.
