Anyone else cheeses that the Mythic Map pack was being touted so much and then they said, " Oh yeah, Halo Wars LE, or you wait?"  I will still get the pack, but that really stinks.

Nein, I stop playing Halo 3 awhile ago, but am picking up the Halo Wars LE, I thought HWars was a must buy for any RTS fan.  The fact that I can give the codes to my son is a plus.

As far as other games go......Velvet Assassin, ODST, Dragon Age, What the other ww2 stealth game about the resistance?? Oh, duh, The Resistance.  Now thats about all that comes to mind, there is another RPG coming out soon but cant recall.  BTW, I plan on telling my wife that these games are "For the Kids" or she will never let me buy all of them.

Yeah, it kind of stinks, but I don't think it will stay that way for long, so it just tells us that the Mythic Map pack is close.

First EJ, don't feel alone.  I got a copy of Kameo from MS when they took so long to fix my xbox the 2nd time.  My son played it some, but I never gave it a try and I was looking at it the other day thinking I should give it a try.

As far as games I plan to pick up this year ,the list is long.  I try to get a game a month, mostly because I get bored and I like to play a lot of different stuff.  In the near future I plan on getting RE5 and maybe Halo Wars (got to try the demo first, I am hoping OXM puts it on their demo disc, I don't want to download it).  I would also like to get Ghostbusters, Alpha Protocol, BioShock 2, Dirt 2, CODMW2, and Brutal Legend.  I also still need to get a copy of Dead Space.  And there is still a tone of good looking games coming out during the year and it's hard to know I just won't get to play them all.

FYI...  I got a chance to get KillZone 2 this weekend and it was not as good as I was hoping for.  The graphics were great, but the game play was not nearly as tight as COD.  I did not feel a I had good control.  You know I just think there should be more to do on my PS3 besides watch Iron Man in Bluray.

Thank you for the reminder, I put money on it about two weeks. But did not pay attention to when it came out.  I guess I was waiting for that call from Gamestop. I mostly likely will pick it up after my next pay day(this Friday or next, I cannot remember).

In my opinion, it's the best fighting game since Tekken 3 on the original Playstation.  All future fighting games will start and end with a comparison to SFIV.  As far as the Arcade Stick being necessary... I'm not sure.  It changed the way that I play fighters, but I wouldn't call it crucial.

The only games on the immediate horizon are RE5 and possibly Ghostbusters, Tekken 6, and Halo 3: ODST.  
Sorry, xeno... no HAWX for me.  I hated the demo.  It looked amazing, but flying games just don't do it for me.  Not nearly enough mashing on buttons.

Xplay did a hands on deal about HAWX and it looked really good.  They are going to have 8 player MP and the different camera angles looked really good.  I will wait for the reviews and then decide.  I would like to get a good dog fight game.

I think it is under the radar due to no "HAWX demo is out, read about it on Xenocidic.com" .  I can't help but hear "Partly metal, partly real...Silverhawks" when reading the title.  I am not playing the demo for fear of loving it.

Hi all, new to this thread.....I enjoyed reading the Gamerdads IV thread, even though I'm not a dad yet ("yet" being the operative word here, as in "in the hopeful future" lol).  But I have a question, which game should I get that's already out? L4D, Fallout 3, or Dead Space?  I've played Dead Space, which has the atmosphere of Bioshock on crack (that's a good thing lol); but I also have alot of other friends who play L4D and/or Fallout 3...and they have all gotten rave reviews...so, any opinions?

As for HAWX, I reserve my opinion as I haven't even played the demo, but it appears to be a decent game, with a few new perks added to attract interest from the flight sim/air combat crowd, but I think it may be Clancy's last ditch effort to retain part of the interest in military sims/strategy games, considering EndWar didn't do quite as well as predicted (still did fairly well, but nowhere near COD4 levels), not to mention the less-than-stellar delivery of games like GRAW and GRAW2; RSV2 kind of saved him, but never took away much from COD4.  HAWX just seems to be a new, slightly more flashy version of Ace Combat, who's kinda set the bar for flight games, so I may rent HAWX, but I probably wont buy due to my loyalty to the Ace Combat series.

Hawx demo, unlike Endwar, didn't do much for me.  It was fun, no doubt, but I'm really not into flight controls with a game controller.  When I can get the AC6 controller, or some other flight stick for the game, I might be more into it.  So it's not top of my next purchase list.

you know, Kameo really wasn't that bad.  An easy 600 points for a quick playthrough.  The game itself actually does take some thinking and to tell you the truth, a few parts were not all that easy.  I had a good week or so with it.

I don't know if i'm going to buy anything in the near future.  I'm still having plenty of fun with the games I picked up for christmas and nothing coming out seems to be a "must have" for me.  I'll be happy with some more fallout 3 and L4d DLC to hold me over until the summer.

Welcome to the thread. You'll find a great group of folks here, future dad!  Personally, I own Fallout 3 and L4D and both are high quality games, but two completely different experiences.  Definitely go for L4D if you're looking for a fast-paced, solid multiplayer, and Fallout 3 if you're looking for a deep, layered, rewarding solo gameplay experience. But hey, lots of folks here who love to give out their opinions on stuff, so please don't take my word for it. :)

lol No I came in about page 185...I got bored in some of the other forums, and some I couldn't bear to read for the amount of stupidity that was flowing out of some gamers (not that I'm not included in that category half the time lol).  As for the games, I heard that the SP on L4D was pretty short, but fairly rewarding; how's the multiplayer on Fallout 3, like in terms of how it runs and the number of people who play it?  And thanx for the input btw.

Oh and my upcoming games I'm looking foward to:  Bioshock 2, RE5, Operation Flashpoint 2, Red Faction: Guerilla, Wolfenstein....haven't looked much into any others.

Yeah, you can usually finish each L4D campaign in about an hour, but that's hardly the point of the game.  It's really, truly the multiplayer experience which makes is awesome.

How's the multiplayer in Fallout 3?  Well, to be honest, I don't find it very intuitive.  It's incredibly hard to try and get a friend to play with you.  I mean, I don't know how many times I tried to play a two-player co-op in Fallout 3, but the game just wouldn't make it work.  I would blame this on the fact that there is no multiplayer in Fallout 3.   Hee hee hee

L4D's glory is definitely in its MP modes, but I can have a great time with solo play as well.  Thanks to the "director" at least making every run through a little bit different, each solo play through feels great and is more dead zombies.

Other dreadful MP games... Oblivion, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and CoD4.  Zing! 

So are you an expecting dad, or expecting to be expecting...eventually?  Either way, welcome to the group and don't ever feel the need to be silent for 15 pages again!  We're a really inclusive group.  That's always been my favorite part of starting a new thread; people are more willing to jump in around page 1-10, much higher than that and people get a little intimidated and less likely to join.  The more dads, moms, expecting parents, legal guardians, pet owners, etc. the better!

I don't think anyone is saying that the "Mass Effect as retro" is a correct line of thinking, but it sure seems to be the reality. Console Gamers have an ADD when it comes to games.  I think that two additions to the 360 have fed this.  Demos enticing people to try games they would not normally purchase and Gamerscore.  Just my opinion on the causes, but peruse the forums, you see that a great number of gamers are in the "What have you done for me lately" and "the latest is the greatest" molds.

HEY!!! COD4 is NOT a dreadful MP game....only the people who play it (myself inculded at times) lol .  Anyways, no i meant "yet" as in "some day" but not at the moment as I don't have the money to support a family.  I am a pet owner though, lol.  As long as there's no membership fee, I'm good.

But has anyone else checked out Operation Flashpoint 2?  I think it look promising, kind combining the realistic "what if" scenarios that COD4 did, along with good MP, with the solid gameplay and environmental features (destructible buildings, etc.) that BF:BC had....I hope they polish this one, I think it has great potential....

It was a joke more than anything else.  I loved Mass Effect as well (though my mere gamerscore in that game may show otherwise).  
Not to disagree too strongly, but I still love Mike Tyson's Punch-Out and that game is retro by almost anyone's standards.

lol glad I made a good impression ....FYI I still have a few spots on my FL if anyone wants to send me a FR....I usually only play COD4 and GTA IV online, but I do play some MC:LA still on occassion; I wish I could find more people who like to go old school and maybe play some FFA on COD2 or something (I think it's better than COD5.....

No worries at all, fatality.  Anyone with an Optimus Prime gamerpic will always get more slack from me.  It was my gamerpic up until the NXE.  Since then, I haven't been the same.

 

The xbox.joystiq really bums me out too.  It's not nearly as awesome as it once was.
