Don't you think that if he was lying about what he has he would have something better than Creative Labs speakers and run of the mill JVC receiver?

I am renting, and I want something I can run without mounting it to the ceiling. The price range is variable, but I want to stay under $2,000.
Setup need work. Totally cut off the viewing angles from the sides by putting TV in an obstruction like that. Everything else is nice, clean work. Its just that Tv being pushed back into a hole like that hurts the picture. I  am sure the sound is brilliant.
The room doesn't look wide enough for the tv to be obstructed by the wall from either of the couches. Besides the fact that the viewing angle of an LCD isn't that wide in the first place.

Thanks for the compliments on the cleanliness, but you should look a little closer at the pics. The lcd is all the way out front of the "hole", and it can be viewed with no problem from either seating area. There is alot of space behind it, and the apartments are made with built in tv nooks and the underneath cabinet as well. I had no choice but to utilize what I have for now in the best way possible. Even if I had a wider room it still would not be a problem seeing the screen from the side. And yes the sound is pretty good, but I want to purchase a calibration disc to "tweak" it a little better though. Look at the 2nd photo and you can get a better depth perception of how far to the front the lcd really is.

the setup is good for my needs :) also always liked satelites instead of fullrange speakers because its good for use
in my apartment and doesnt need so high volume to sound good. thinking of my neighbours :)
and the subwoofer was left from my old car :) and the subwoofer amplifier is from a friend who doesnt needed it.

Sanyo projector is really nice with good contrast and many settings and tweakable! only been running for about 300 hours. It doesnt sound quite much either in lamp ecomode the xbox oversounds its fan noise :)

the only thing that i dont like with projectors is the focus.. they are really unsharp if i compare to tv's its a hugh differenses.. but tv pictures isnt projected hehe and got its sharpness there.

i wish that i had a projector that had focus equal a lcd tv hehe.. maybe it depends on my choice of projection screen also.

What is your price range?  Do you want to watch during times of day when there may be ambient light?  How far do you plan on throwing the image and how big will your screen be?  Where will the screen be mounted....between the windows?

I am wanting to stay around 2K. I was thinking the projector route, but I will be limited on mounting options due to the rental guidelines. Would a 52" 120hz tv be best for us right now instead? I just want a better display. Most of our viewing will be done at night by the way.

here is a link to a great tv for the price range you requested. Consumor reports classified this as the #1 LCD on the market to date http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8749287&st=a650&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1202649424157

Not a bad system at all for a bedroom set-up.  Nice!  My only recommendation would be more of a corner placement for the sub.  It also appears that you have way too much toe-in on the mains to get proper imaging and soundstage.

Re: Post your AV Setups - Part 2
Well, all of my Martin Logan's are shipped.  They held their value fairly well:

Martin Logan Stage Center Channel:
MSRP: $3200
Bought mine new in box for $2200 1 year ago
Sold on eBay for $1926

Martin Logan Ascents:
MSRP: $4700
Bought new in box 5 years ago for $2700
Sold on Craigslist for $1800

Martin Logan Descent Subwoofer:
MSRP: $2800
Bought mine new for $2800 5 years ago
Sold on eBay for $1425

Martin Logan Script Rear Speakers:
MSRP:  $2000
Bought mine new in box for $1395 9+ years ago
Sold on eBay for $1036

Step one of transformation complete.  New speakers were ordered last Thursday and hopes will be that the shipment will come in Friday....but more likely early next week.

Since my items did better than expected on the market, I find myself with an extra couple grand to go toward other upgrades.  I am considering either:

1) Getting a second JL Audio Fathom 113
2) Replacing the B&K Reference 200.5 with an Anthem A5

Thoughts?

So is this Phantom or GeoGeer... Do you have 2 setups?  The reason why I'm asking is because I am confused. You answered the reply from a different account.

Is this your upstairs setup phantom?  Because I really like the modern look to the setup. NO wires or connections in sound. Pretty cool.

Everyone should realize that nobody is safe in the current economy , even legally binding contracts can be broken . But hey at least if we all lose our jobs we'll have killer systems at home to enjoy while we search for new ones Wink [;)] .

Phantom , I think you would have a more audible difference from the second sub vs. changing out one excellent amp for another excellent amp (either amp will deliver the goods for those Paradigms) .
