Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)

I just got the e-mail today that my console was received today. I checked the status and it shows repaired, which tells me they replaced the console instead of repairing.

I'm glad someone mentioned it has to be signed for so I can leave a note for the delivery guy to take it a few doors down to my folks home so they can sign for it.

As a follow-up...

If they send a new console, do they make sure it is compatible with my existing power supply? I'd hate to RROD again due to having a power supply that is to much for my new/refurbished unit to handle.

I doubt you got a new console.  Mine was repaired in a day, and it still shows the same serial number.  Quite a few people I've talked to have gotten back their original consoles, and they were repaired within a day or two.

I got my console back yesterday from E-74 repair and I was worried because it was a Halo.  I wasn't 100% sure I'd get a Halo back, much less the one I sent.  BUT a miracle happened...it was MY Halo that I got back.  Same serial number and everything!  I was shocked.

Post-Repair Warranty Start Date
I shipped my Zephyr-based Elite for the E74 repair on April 23 and on the Support Site, it shows that it was repaired two days ago, although it has not been shipped back to me yet.  My questions/concern is regarding the Warranty they give you after the repair.  The start date is for April 28, 2009 which is the day the repairs were completed.  Mine also shows I have the same Serial #.  I wonder if they just take our case and swap out the innards.  I requested a Jasper based mobo/chipset but highly doubt I will get one.

How can Microsoft start the 90-Day Warranty when the console is not in the consumers physical presence yet?  I have to assume they won't ship the console back for at least another day or so.  Hypothetically I may not have it until the middle of next week.  SO, my point here is shouldn't the Warranty start once UPS Delivery Confirmation has been established and NOT once a repair is complete since it is not being used or in the possession of the consumer?

Did the box tell you which motherboard you received?

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
As a follow up to my order, I was able to print my label out, and it was shipped out this past Tuesday.  It made it to Texas last night, and I expected it to be delivered today.  I just checked the UPS site, and it says that the reciever has requested a hold on the shipment, and will be delivered at a later date.  No delivery date was given.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I was hoping that it would be delivered today, and that I may get my system back next week.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)

My 360 has recieved the RROD for the second time (April 30) and I am wasting time to send it to Microsoft to have it fixed.  I don't know what the problems is with Microsoft; they clearly have a defected console and has not found a permanent fix for it yet, after all these years.  I'm starting to think that Microsoft really doesn't care.  I just hope this second time around my 360 is completely fixed and free from any problems, because this may be my last go around.

Can someone answer this for me.  I filed a fix on the telephone and my white box should be coming soon.  However, when I check my REPAIR center online, it doesn't show a status on my 360 nor does it have it registered.

What's the deal with this?

For some reason, the XBox.com and Customer Care Center's systems are two different things.  If you haven't registered your system on XBox.com, it won't show up (my brother screwed up when trying to get his repaired last year and registered his system on my profile when using my computer) but at the repair center my system is registered to my name and his system to his name.  No idea how to remove a system from an XBox.com profile though.

Thanks.  I guess I will have to register my 360 on Xbox.com even though I did it via the phone when getting it fixed for the first time.  Microsoft needs to get it together.

I dont think it matters what people do to them.  My brother had his since lauch and only had it RROD once.  He packs it to college and back every weekend, takes to lan parties in a nasty abandoned house, and is all around pretty rough on it.

I bought mine a year ago and I've had two RRODs.  I never move it, its a prime location where it can get plenty of air, but that doesnt seem to matter.

How long does the "repair in progress" take? Just curious cause I thought they just sent you a different console. Also did anyone have problems before the RROD? Mine froze one day and then that was it, there were no prior signs of it happening. You'd think it would slowly start to break.

I don't know what they do to them, but I got back my original console; at least I think it's original.  The serial number is the same.  I had to go through the initial setup again.  I have to call them Monday because the little flap on the USB ports on the front is missing.  It wasn't missing when I sent it in, and it wasn't anywhere to be found in the box or bag that it came back in.  I guess they aren't exactly big on quality control.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
I can't believe what is going on.
If you need my ref # I will give it.
I sent my console for repair in which I had to pay the shipping because I live in Puerto Rico.  You received and fixed it within a couple of days which was great.  You shipped it back on April 3rd or 5th.  It got held up by UPS in Kentucky do to an incorrect shipping label used for Puerto Rico.  I checked online with UPS and called them to verify.  It was shipped back by UPS in Kentucky and back to Microsoft in Texas.  Since then it has not been shipped back.  I have been blamed by your employees that I was not home to receive it.  Wrong, it never got to Puerto Rico and UPS would have tried more than once to deliver it.  I have a stay at home wife as well who would have received it.  5 times I have called and have received 2 calls and was told that they need to verify my address and it would be escalated to a supervisor. For almost a month I have been verifying my address. It is ridiculous, I have had two kids birthday parties and no console to play their presents on and I had to pay shipping for this.  I am tired of verifying my address and being lied to about it being escalated to a supervisor and told it was my fault.  Today, same phone call, verifying address, escalated and they will call me to give me a status update.  How about putting the correct label on it after letiing it sit for a month or telling me you lost it.  I guess reimbursement for shipping costs are out of the question because it is my fault. Can someone in Texas please take it to UPS and ship it.

Just had a replacement shipped to me after RROD, but the 'replacement' unit is in a poor state, scratches to the case, cracks on the corners  - really not impressed as was expecting my original mint 360 to be repaired and sent back to me, not just replaced with any old piece of junk they had lying around Angry [:@]

Well now I understand the irrational anger and hatred of Microsoft... I feel like I just ran a marathon and am now waiting on a call back to see if they will honor my request for a new console, since they obviously cannot fix mine. I'm a customer service supervisor and these people did everything wrong!! They do everything that I teach my CSRs NOT to do. I love my XBox games, I truly do....now I just need to repeat that to myself 100 times...

That's *** up, but it doesn't surprise me at all.  Microsoft seems to put a bandage on the console instead of fixing it completely.  I cant believe a million (or billion) dollar company can't find a permanent fix for the RROD that constantly annoys customers.  You should request a new console and they should give you one.  If mine is not fixed after this second try, I, too, will request a new console.

Speaking of customer service, Microsoft needs to get their act together.  When I called last Friday to put an order for repair, I could barely understand what the person was saying (which was clearly a person from another country with a strong accent).  And plus, the location she was at was EXTREMELY LOUD.  I wouldn't be surprised if she screwed up my address or something else, even though it is my second order for repair and they have all my info from my first fix.

Can we use this thread for Xbox 360 accessories, too? Because my Wireless Network Adapter stopped working, I called Microsoft about it, and 2 weeks later I have noting. I've already shipped my broken one out and this waiting is starting to get annoying.

I'm pissed off right now. My cosole is broken for the 4th time, and i got it back just 5 months ago, and apparently its not under warranty and it's not a 3 red rings problem. I intend for them to fix it for free anyway, or i am going to *** at them forever, every time i got my console back it was the same one that they "fixed" I should receive a new one by now.

Anyway, i cant even start a repair because it says no console is registered but when i try to register my console it says the serial number is registerd already.

I remember this from the last time i repaired it but i forget what i did to get it to work, i know i called them and now it seems they dont even have people there, a message just says to go online and do it.

^^^^You need to keep calling and select the mode that says AGENT.  (Skip the voice message that says do it online via Xbox.com) I think it will say stay on the line and wait for an agent or press a number.  Just make sure you speak to someone to get it resolved and request an order for fix (even though it's not an RROD).

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
Microsoft needs to do some serious work on their customer service practices. Yes we all know that the system has a design flaw that causes RROD, we buy anyway as the games are worth it. Microsoft deflects much of the bad will this causes by extending the warranty for RROD. Good move. My first RROD process (documented above) went quite smooth until I got the unit back and it broke again within hours. The service I received at that point was terrible. The reps are stuck in "send it back and we'll happily repair it" mode. That is just not good enough. When I stated above that I now understand the irrational hatred people have for Microsoft, it was their customer service that triggered it. They make an enjoyable product but their treatment of their customer is terrible. I think the main reason people who have repair issues say they are going to buy a PS3 is not becaause the PS3 is better (it isn't), it's because they want to lash out and hurt Microsoft somehow. We can't do anything about the person on the phone wo we want to hurt the company that has hurt us.

If I were you, I would still try to send it in because it's clearly Microsoft's fault for releasing defected consoles -- 2 red light, 3 red light or not, try to send it in.
