Haha I love looking at the old skool games..
But yeah personally I would say that NBA Jam is probably a bit more advanced than this and sort of the same thing..NBA Jam was NOT serious though...I have so many fond memories of super sessions at Timezone with my mates playing this..Dunks from the halfway line, doing backflips and crazy stuff all with that commentator that sounded so authentic at the time..
Had an epic match against two guys vs myself.... and myself as i stupidly hit both credit buttons... so i had to switch between two joysticks throughout the game, during a super session back in the old days. Using both joysticks, i was able to out play the other two guys, much better than i would have with a cpu assisted teammate. I won the game by 3 points in the end aswell

I had a mate try to ruin my 250 game winning streak on NBA Jam T.E on the mega drive. He'd purposely miss easy shots to keep things close, still won in the end. Speaking of winning streak, i was not impressed... lent the game to someone, get it back to find the records had been reset

Would love to see NBA Jam on the XBLA, heck even a next gen remake with today's nba players would be pretty cool (i did get the mid 00's NBA Jam remake on the ps2, wasn't a bad game.... added 3 on 3 in the mix).
