I just find it disheartening that there were so many comments made by the devs etc. stating 'Oh yeah, we're totally going to give you a bunch of stuff for L4D. Lots of stuff..' and then they're releasing a sequel. It seems shady.

I understand that the PC version has an editor and all that jazz, but the sequel is just coming so soon that it really took me (and a lot of others by the sound of it) by surprise.

We'll support L4D, here's a sequel.

I guess I just didn't expect it from Valve, a company that normally takes eons to release their sequels/continuations.

Sports games do it all the time, I know.. COD does it, so I guess, why can't they?

I just know I won't be picking it up until a while after release.

i agree, i think its completely rushed
considering l4d2 was originally meant to be the DLC, but no, valve had to go and turn it into a game so instead of it being $10, its now $60.
still looks good, but i am soured at the fact that its only been a year, and i need to buy a full new game

More DLC for L4D is rumoured to be coming by the end of the summer.

L4D:2 demo on the way as well, Valve said its supposed to prove to consumers who bought the original why they needed to make an entirely new game. Link:

I just saw an announcement for an announcement concerning upcoming L4D DLC.. So, it's coming apparently.. Nothing much more than that was said.

As for the L4D2 demo.. I suppose seeing (and playing) is believing.. But I saw a bunch of gameplay vids from E3..

Few new zombies.. running and fighting instead of standing and fighting.. Melee.. apparently there are boss zombies.. etc.

I guess we'll see what we see when we see it.

There's supposed to be five campaigns, new Special Infected like the Charger (Smaller weaker faster version of a Tank), the new Melee weapons, along from that I heard that there will be new weapons (Though I'm not too impressed with the Incendiary ammunition). And the big difference with this that no one is realizing is that it's not like the original L4D where the game was played like a series of movies. This one is played like a storyline in actual cities around the the southern US, going from Savannah down to the French Quarter of New Orleans where a group of people are trying to find safety. They're also upping the AI director to 2.0 which will increase all that the AI director does in L4D already. That's why they're making a whole new game for it. L4D won't really be compatible with the new AI director. I'm sure that knowing Valve, they'll keep making updates for the original as well as the new L4D2. Just look at the older stuff that Valve has already that they're STILL making updates for YEARS after they've been out. So don't knock Valve yet. You've just got to be patient.

What I think about Left 4 Dead 2 is for the ones who wanted more in the game. Such as New weapons, New inflections, More survivors... Things that you can't update on the first one. "So what the hell. Give them what they want!" Yes, this is a whole new game. Left 4 Dead 1 would be update along with the second game. It won't be forgotten. If Call of Duty 4 is still popular. Doesn't mean Left 4 Dead 1 won't be popular. What was that group called again? Boycott?

Its so annoying reading all these people who are *** about the DLC ***. Yes it was promised. Yes they`re coming out with a new game already. What you`re not understanding is that they never said they weren`t going to make anymore dlc for the original. Be patient. Maybe they have other plans for the original and that L4D2 is going in a different direction. Trust me, as a long time Valve customer, I know partially how they think. Updates are sparatic and can include anything.

man i can't wait for left 4 dead 2 i loved the first one i saw game play of it too its just kinda disappointing that
they didn't release any DLC oh well :)

All I know is I bought L4D on the premise that it was going to be added to. I knew it was short and there wasn't a lot to it, I also knew they were going to continue to support it. So, as long as they continue to do so, especially the addition of new campaigns, I will continue to be happy with my original purchase, and will not be purchasing (at full price) what I consider to be L4D 1.5.

That has nothing to do with your irrational statement saying that everything he listed from L4D2 should be DLC.

1) Theres supposed to be more DLC coming around the end of summer (haven't heard much about it)
2) I think a whole new game mode is pretty big for DLC... Its kind of dumb to play that down like its nothing.
3) Technically, Last Stand would be a new level, just for a different mode.

Promises can't always be kept. I'm waiting to see what the DLC will be at the end of summer, but with what I hear about AI Director 2, I wouldn't even want new maps in L4D. I have faith in Valve that this won't start happening every year.

I'd really rather the new AI director, the new maps. Its not like I get bored of the current maps, I always discover new ways to do things, and new places to attack from as infected.

Its fine that people are boycotting the game, it just seems like some people, like you, are a bit irrational about it, and are wayyyy too strongly forcing their beliefs on others.

Just to comment on the size and content of DLC:  The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles was first offered as a digital download on the Xbox 360, and it requires The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.  There's no reason Left 4 Dead 2 could not have been released as a digital expansion set that I can see.

Honestly, the whole situation reminds of Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy back in the day.  While it was a fun title, it was a glorified expansion released as a sequel.

I thought it was kind of stupid of Valve to make a sequel so soon, but if u look at Valve in the wide view, they are a smart company, and they know how to make a good shooter and usually, they are seen as the company that is good for fan service, and in return they make alot of money but lately it seems the economy has done some damage... They are now seen as the greedy company who wants more $$ I say this because of the full price L4D Game of the year edition.... I think this game will be something to watch because according to one of the producers, L4D was designed for L4D 2 so they could build a sequel that uses the elements and tactics that the players used..... if thats true, and if Valve is doing the right thing. then the amount of DLC we thought L4D would get should go to L4D... another thing is the L4D players will be able to play with the L4D2

Look at the video on the spotlight, and thats why they need a sequal. IT LOOKS AMAZING!
