Okay, so it wasn't just me.  That's a relief.  I was beginning to think everything I knew about tuning was garbage, lol.   It's definitely the car.  In Forza 1, that car smoked!  I'll keep working on it, finish the painting and all that jazz.  Who knows, I might find it's little "magic fix" by accident while I'm messing around with it.

It's definitely one of the more challenging cars to drive in the game, that's for sure.

I'm with ya on that one, man...the 959 was an absolute MONSTER in Forza 1...could outsprint just about anything, was very well poised, and had ridiculous amounts of grip.  I was really disappointed to see how differently it behaved in 2.  Haven't tried tuning it yet, but maybe this will help if I do manage to get around to it.

be prepared to get frustrated with that thing.I spently nearly an hour and 15 minutes working on it.The first 40 minutes probably was spent on trying to tame the rear end.

But once you do get the tune you like you will be happy in the end.I know i was.

You finally got it dialed in Firebird?  I put mine on the shelf for a day or two.  Just got too frustrating.  I'd get that tail end balanced but it cost me something else.  I think the combination of my driving style and the way this car needs to be driven are incompatable.  It's a shame too, like Trip said, this car was a BEAST in Forza 1.

I know a driver has to change his style for every car but that should never be a drastic change, know what I mean.  Part of tuning is bringing the car closer to handling your style of driving.  A kind of, "meeting in the middle" so to speak.  Until I find that happy medium, I'm gonna keep her on the shelf.

At least recreating the paint shouldn't be as hard.  My Forza 1 creation was covered with storm clouds and lightening and that should be a breeze in the F2 livery editor.

Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah i'm pretty sure i've got her dialed in.The only thing you have to remember about this car is it's not nearly as fast as many of the other S class cars.In my opinion this car wasn't meant to be driven fast in this game.If the car had a Wing it would be more managable.

It's still a fun car to drive even though it had it's downsides. If you want the tune let me know man.I've got some yard work to do for a lil bit but i'll be on later tonight.

Hey starfirebird, this is my first post in this forum, so bear with me. First off, I've seen your tunes on here and your web-site, and I think it's awesome what you're doing. Anyway, I've got a solid S998 Audi RS 4 that I'm trying to tune for Nurburgring. It's crazy fast and handles great, but I don't know the first about suspension tuning. I'm also trying to figure out whether or not to use the Forza front bumper and wing, because I get a faster top speed without them. I think I finally got the brakes dialed in, that's what was giving me a lot of problems. If I supply the build and the few things I've got tuned, could you do the suspension and tweak some of the other stuff when you get a chance. No hurry, just when you have some extra time.
If at first you don't succeed, you're not Chuck Norris.

One thing to remember in all my tunes i use TCS,ABS and Automatic Transmission. If you don't use these the tune will probably not work for you.

Ok Strunky I've got that tune ready to go for you.I hope you like how the car does as this is the best i could do with the car. When you look at this tune it's gonna show some pretty crazy #'s and by taking on elook at it you may think to yourself...How in the world will this work?

Yesterday i told you about how i had two tunes for the car.Well the car that i told you about that had 1.15 G's all around well i worked on the car a bit today to see if i could get more out of it without sacrificing something else.Well it was a success i was able to get the car to 1.18 and 1.16 G's.I'm actually more pleased with the car now than i was yesterday and i was able to shed about a second off my laptimes with this car.Ok enough with the chatter here's the tune man Big Smile [:D]

I put probably almost 3 hours in this car just because i wanted to make this car be driveable.

Some things to remember about this car.

1.This car isn't meant(in this game)to take turns at a high speed. And the car naturally has understeer.

2.This car is not meant to be dominate in rooms. It's really only for fun and the sheer pleasure in driving it.

3.Always have fun Yes [Y]

It's cool. Like I said in my first post, I'm not in any hurry, just when you have some extra time. I'm wanting it tuned for Nurburgring.  By the way, I switched the final drive to 2.90 and ran a few sec. faster than with the 3.15. I found that just because the benchmark says xxx top speed, doesn't mean you'll reach it. With that said, maybe the full Forza kit might help in the turns, as long as it doesn't take too much away from the top speed on the straights.

I just wanted to let you know that i'm still working on that tune.

I got sidetracked today with a few side jobs.My Father and his friend are flipping a house. And they needed my help installing a garage door. Then i decided to go ahead and mow the yard at the house.I was probably over there for maybe 4 hours.

Back to the tune.I'm really liking what i have done to the car so far.It still needs some minor tweaks that i'll work on tomorrow. With the tune i have on it right now i was able to run a 7:24xxx lap on Nurburgring with the Audi. The car has some understeer i'm trying to fix,but i think it's because of the Sport Tires.Even though the car has Sport tires the car is pretty fast and coners pretty nicely.I was able to top out at 198 mph on the straight, which isn't bad considering i'm using full downforce.

The car is turning out nicely and i should have it done by tomorrow.

It's cool, still no hurry. It's crazy you ran a 7:24, beacause before I adjusted anything with the tune I ran a 7:32. Then I changed a couple of things and ran a 7:28. Do I see a possible 7:20 in the making, given the 4 sec. pattern, maybe? About the aero, without it, I was topping out at right around 220 mph, but if it takes up less time through the curves, it seems it's a pretty good sacrifice.

The build is fine, in fact it lost just a little HP, but picked up some extra torque. Anyway, awesome tune, I'm still trying to adjust my driving to the tune, but I just ran a 7:22 first lap on "Free Run". I messed up on the second lap because I thought I was comfortable with the car. I guess I need to run it a little more. I was surprised how much difference the aero made. I also need to get used to the gearing, because on some of the turns I thought I needed to down-shift, but I was in the rev-limiter. All in all, great tune, and I thank you for your time and help.

Oh yeah, I jumped over 2000 spots on the scoreboard just from that one lap. Now I'm surrounded by Lambo's, Ferrari's, and CLK-GTR's.

Actually, the gears aren't so bad after all. After running it a little more, I'm finding that the gears you set up are a lot better for two main reasons. (1) It's stopping the tire spin I was getting from down-shifting to 2nd, and (2) It's saving me the in between time of down-shifting then quickly up-shifting again. I'm getting more acceleration time keeping it in 3rd gear to power out of some of the turns. I haven't beat the 7:22 yet, because I've been testing the limits of certain turns, but I will get there soon.

That's great man.

I'm glad to hear those gears are working well for you.

I know that car can get a laptime under 7:20,but i'm not the best driver and i'm sure you should be able to achieve that with this car.

Oh yeah i also ran this car at Road America and i was able to run a 2:01xxx laptime with it.If you have that track you should look into trying that track out.She seems to be a great car there also.

For Sebring,Nurburgring, and Silverstone i would try out the Pirelli Sport Tires and more engine upgrades.

On your everyday vehicle try to stay away form Cams and Valves unless you aboslutely need that upgrade.Your will over rev and you'll lose a few .100th's of a sec on your laptimes. If you are Running a Car that has a Rotary Motor(Rx-8,Rx-7 etc.)Stay away from Engine Block Upgrades if possible this part will have a negative effect on the Engine.Just giving you a few more pointers so you'll know about them.

Dude i'm glad my site has helped out.I check out my site a few times a day so if you need any help on anything Myself or someone else in the forums will be glad to help out.Yes [Y]

Hey man, I just ran a couple laps to compare my Audi with your tune and the gift Audi from Turn 10. I can definately tell a big difference between the two. Anyway, 7:22.142 with the gift Audi, and 7:19.888 with mine. From both runs, I know I can improve the times, maybe eventually close to a 7:15 on your tune.

Nice laptime man.

I haven't even driven mine yet. The Gift car looks like it has more grip just from looking at the specs but less top end speed.I may have to check it out later.

I've been working on the 2007 Honda Civic Type-R(DLC car) for B class. So far i've ran a 1:23.323 at Suzuka West and on Silverstone International i ran a 1:27.835.To be a not so dominate car i was impressed with how the car run.

Yeah, the gift car has a little more grip through the center of most of the sharper turns. The main difference I saw was that the lower hp on the gift car made it so I wasn't as hard on the brakes sometimes. That was where I could tell I was making up some time. The higher hp on your tune helped on powering out and keeping a higher top end speed if I had to ease off and get back in it real quick to maintain the line. By the way, your tune runs rather decent at Sebring also.

Hey Strunky how did you like the tune for the Porche?

The tune works nicely but I'm still having to adjust to the car a bit more than anticipated.  Probably because I don't use any of the assists you used when you tuned it.  No biggie there though, that's an easy adjustment or... at least it is in any other car.  LOL, We'll see how easy it is for this Porsche.

I really appreciate you putting some time into this for me Firebird.  Thanks bro.
