Wait how would i recover a gamertag made on xbox.com, does the internet connect to it and download it off there? And if I have offline gamertag and recover the one with no info on it on the website, will I have to restart on everything I played just for the games i played to appear on that gamertag?

Also, I plan to use a wireless adapter to connect, but can i take a ethernet cord plug it into a computer like a mac and recover it from the website?

Yes, as they are two separate gamertags.

In order to keep your Achievements and Savegames, you will need to make your offline gamertag an online gamertag.
Simply make sure your Xbox ist connected online.
I assume you have your PC connected online in some way or another, otherwise you couldn't write here.
If you have a cable from your PC going to your internet connection, unplug that cable from your PC, plug it into your Xbox and it should in most cases be able to go online.
Then sign in with your offline profile and choose to connect that to Xbox Live. Then follow the Step-by-Step instructions the console provides you.


The online profile you just created shouldn't be used, or you will be unable to use your savegames and your gamerscore will be zero.

Okay, but is there a way to transfer my offline gamertag games like GS and achievements, and put them onto the online gamertag, and if i entered a 3 month gold card and entered it, can i cancel it an redeem it again on that offline gamertag once it has LIVE?

There is a guide on how to "merge" an offline and online account, but it's actually named incorrectly.
It doesn't merge the account.

Correctly named would the guide read:
How to rename your superfluous newly made online profile "A" to "B", and then use the free name "A" to get your offline profile online with the previously desired name "A".

If you already used a membership for your new online profile, you *could* try to talk to support to cancel the membership or try to transfer it to your offline profile after you got it online, but I don't know if it'll be possible to do that.

Ok so I did everything to connect my mac with ethernet, but when i test the connection, it says pc no listed. what do i do?

can anyone tell me how i can activate my Previous gamertag (with all of my gamepoints and game data) to Xbox live, and get rid of the profile that i had to make when i connected to xbox live recentley

So, if you want your offline profile to be named like your current profile, you will have to rename it (which will cost 800 MSP), and then quickly sign in to your offline profile, and choose to go online with that.
The Console will guide you step by step through this process.

thanks, however this is where i got confused, i looked at the previous posts but what happened was when i went to join Xbox live i had already created a profile, i was forced to make a new profile  when i downloaded the updates   in the process of connecting to xbox live. Both have the names i desire, Vaunhuzzen, however i am currious if i cant just delete my current Xbox live able profile (with 0 gamerscore) for my pre Xbox live profile. Or is this what you were talkin about with the link to the guide.

As there is no way to have 2 *online* profiles with the same name, I assume your Gamertag, with which you post here (and has zero Gamerscore) is the "real" online profile.
The one on your console is an *offline* profile.
You *could* try and call the Microsoft support, to delete your online zero-Gamerscore profile, so you can go to your console and choose to sign in to Live with your offline profile (i.e. transferring it to an online profile with all your saves and Gamerscore intact).

But other than that, the only way is the guide above:
Rename your zero-Gamerscore profile to "NotVaunhuzzen" for example, then go to your console, choose your offline Vaunhuzzenfaust, tell the console to go online with it, and that should be it.

How exactly is your Xbox connected? How does your PC get online? What are you using to get online? A Modem or a Router? What is the exact make and model of your router or modem hardware? *Be specific*!

Hey guys I have a problem With my console......when I try to connect to Xbox live I get a message that the locale is not supported in my Windows live ID....oh and by the way I am from Greece if that has anything to do with it...please somebody help me through this!!!!

I don't use a rooter I plug my 360 directly to my modem the connection is up with the network and the Internet But...when I try to give my hotmail adress and code it pops up a message that  the X-Box Live is not supported in the locale of my windows live ID in other words my mail account

Okay okay in details I use a modem in which both the Pc and xbox are conected through two diferrent ethernet cables because I don't have a rooter.....so I can't connect the Pc with my xbox console but I hear that shouldn't be a problem with connecting to X-Box live....

yes I have a little problem what's the differance in which gamertag I am signed in when I connect? It just shuts the session off allong with the gamertag I was signed in???

A modem can't support more than one connection at a time. If you are able to connect two ethernet cables to your "modem", then I'm pretty sure that it *is* a router.

Could you tell us the exact make and model of your modem or router?

After going through all the step of creating a new account I get

"This action can't be performed as this time.  Please try again later.  For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support. 80154013"

Getting the new maps to Ace Combat 6 and Gears of War 2 would sure be nice, but this code seems to be preventing it. 

It is already bad enough that I created an online account and one on my console thinking microsoft would have a way to seamlessly merge them at a later date... hahaha  but from reading the thread it appears as though I might have to start at 0 points, get a new tag, or a combination of the two.

Can anyone advise on the error code or/and the keeping of my points?  (The merge instructions are outdated with the new system as there is not a recovery option.)
