Re: hdmi
I can't think of anything else it could be, maybe another user can think of something. My only advice would be to call LG and talk to them about it.

The dongle you speak of comes with the official Microsoft Xbox 360 HDMI cable that can be purchased as a separate accessory. Check it out here: http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/hardware/x/xbox360hdmiavcable/

Re: hdmi
Ok I've just edited the FAQ which should hopefully bring it up to date. It will be updated again after the next console update.

How can I hook my laptop up (with Windoes Media Centre) so I can watch and record television from my Xbox 360? As it says I should be able to.

You would need a TV Tuner put into your Laptop to do that. I think some external ones can also be used.

Re: Xbox 360 Video FAQ by trancevib
I'm gonna thrown in a nooby audio question:

1. Is there a huge difference between using RCA to surround sound compared to optical audio?
2. If my xbox is connected via hdmi, do I need to connect it direct to the surround sound (via RCA or Optical) OR can I use an optical cable direct from the tv??

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Only a huge difference depending on the surround sound system, for your z5500's and your sony system both will sound good.
If you plug your 360 to your TV via HDMI then you use the optical cable direct from your TV, so when you select your XBox input channel on the TV you get the XBox running through your surround sound. (so you can throw out that analogue optical input selector switch you have Big Smile [:D])

Just take not of your TV optical out KC...as all flat panel TVs are stereo, they only output stereo through the optical out. High end models will throughput the true HDMI signal recieved, but not many.

Thanks Ducky! Torana said the same thing and from browsing the internet I've finally arrived at that discovery! No worriesd - I'll just use an optical switcher to make sure I guess! Smile [:)]

Problem:  I have a  HD ready tv 1080i through  component plugs, I'm using the component HD cable and all is plugged in properly. When I change the switch from SD to HD the difference is very noticable, but when I try to set the screen to 1080i in system setting, nothing happens, I get the black screen for 10 seconds and then reverts back to normal. Changing from 50 to 60Hz makes no difference, whats the go????

What TV do you have dude?
It may not be able to handle the interlacing (1080i) properly...My advice would be to just keep it set to 720p, I'm yet to notice the difference between the two...but my eye sight is failing Geeked [8-|]
The 10second blank screen is the time out of the dashboard asking you to except the new resolution as goodo Smile [:)]

A friend last night told me he could get his 360 to run on 576p. My TV only goes up to 576p/1080i, and I couldn't get it to work on 1080i (would reset the settings to 480p even when I try to save the changes (tried ringing tech support, but they were in denial that it was happening)) He said that there was some patch to get 576p on the 360. Mine only displays 480p, 720p/i 1080p/i Any help appreciated

It's because you were the one who said "thanks" 3 months after tranvevib posted. Stick out tongue [:P]

And why is this thread floating down the first page??

Question regarding 1080i/1080p.. Without getting too technical, which is the better? And, why can't I select 1080p.. Is it to do with my TV? Tongue Tied [:S]

dose your TV support 1080p?  if not your xbox wont select it.

mine supports 1080i and it would rather use 720p

Hey Bammie,
Try this one. The W which is the colour white, but has the same as the black TV specification. Hope this helps.

Re: Xbox 360 Video FAQ by trancevib
Hi,
I have a new Jasper elite. The component  cable does not have the same feature as my old 360 Pro in so far as there is no slideing switch to change from T.V to HD on it's component cable . Will this cable give HD on an HD T.V?
I have noticed on the web that we can buy a HD all in one cable for video and sound that connects to the console and an HDHI input slot on the T.V with a seperate dongal to connect to a sound system.
Or should I just use my old cable with the sliding switch and set it on HD, but would this give a poorer picture and sound quality?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
