Cineplex is now offering Xbox 360 parties on the BIG screen at theatres across the country for $180. You can learn more at their website. The downside is that you can't bring your own refreshments although you do get a discount of 30% off the regular (i.e. exhorbidant) rates. Perhaps this can be worked into the birthday party somehow.

We considered it, but ultimaely felt it wasn't the vibe we wanted to go for. Our venue is being offered freely and we prefer that as it keeps the event accessible to everyone without an entrance fee etc.

Why wait until next year? Anybody is free to do anything they wish. If somebody else wants to put the time, effort, and money into organizing an event then all the power to you. Don't just leave it up to others to do things.

That might be nice - I'm don't think anybody's volunteered to bring DJ Hero yet so that would be fun. Thanks so much for asking though. The more people pitching in the better, after all :) This weekend I'll try to compile a list of people so far confirmed to be coming and see if I can think of anything else we could use. suggestions and guests welcome ofcourse.

Re: Xbox Canada Community Birthday Party
With the weekend and the event fast approaching I have some exciting news to announce.
We'll be having an auction / raffle at the event with all proceeds going to Child's Play!!!

GeneralGames.ca has reached out to a few publishers in the gaming community and they've generously responded. We've got some super awesome prizes to give away, but I don't want to spoil the surprise here. I hope to see you all at the event and in your most charitable forms.

Also, feel free to bring friends/girlfriends/wives. This is going to be a lot of fun for everyone.

Can people who can't attend be a part of this raffle/auction somehow? I'd be interested if there were a way to set something up.

I'm looking forward to it. I might bring a friend, but I haven't heard from my friend to know if he's interested in going. I should know by tomorrow night.

How late does the subway run? I'm trying to decide if I should just take the subway in from Yorkdale, because the event may run later than the Go-Train.

the last subway leaves union at about 1:45 so you should be fine for that unless you want to stay out super late.

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. I'll probably just take the subway then. I don't know how late I'll stay, but 1:45 gives me about 6 hours.

For all you people who haven't been to a community event (or many events) be sure to introduce yourself to people you've never met. I know I've met a ton of people at events and its always nice to meet new people as well, after all thats the point of these things! So don't be shy, we don't bite (except for KowZ but that guy's crazy)

Okay. I'll try not to be my usual, quiet self. I'll make sure to stay far away from KowZ's reach, though. Thanks for the warning.

I'm still waiting to hear from my friends. They both had previous committments, but are hoping to attend.

I'm looking forward to attending. This will be my first community event. I'm hoping to start attending more of them in the future.

So I have checked on the site but still looking for the info on joining the raffle if you aren't able to be there. Have you released those details yet Keadin?

Re: Xbox Canada Community Birthday Party
Hello all,
I am happy to let all you west coasters who can't make it, and those just too darn lazy to show up, will be able to help with the Child's Play charity raffle and be part of this evening's event!

Starting around 8:00 PM EST simply go to: http://www.tinychat.com/generalgames
That site will host our live party camera and chat room which will run all night long.
You may not be there but you can still shout out to the community all night long.

I have also made a digital prize package full of XBLA and Steam download tokens.
I will be announcing what's in the package around 10:00 PM EST in the chatroom.
To win the prize donate some money here: http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ via PayPal
In the comments of your donation write that it was for the GeneralGames.ca Holiday Party
Send a screenshot of the receipt (all private personal info missing) to justin@generalgames.ca
Every $3 donated will earn you 1 entry in the raffle.
The winner will be announced at the end of the night.
If you win and aren't in the chat room I'll e-mail you the prizes regardless.

If you have any questions I'll be checking this thread as well as my email over the night.
Remember to donate generously and enjoy talking with your fellow community members.
Hope everyone has fun tonight whether you're present or not.

Sad [:(] then you should have thought about it as buying raffle tickets (the added benefit was that the raffle tickets were to raise money for a great cause). Last night was a blast though and I want to thank Keadin and Mister Switch (yeah that's right Switch, I thanked you second lol) for making it all happen. Thanks to everybody who attended, including Wick who finally came out of hiding haha, and for everybody that helped out with logistics, prize donations etc. Hopefully we can make more than a one time deal!

It was great seeing a lot of you out and we managed to raise a lot of money for charity. There were loads of prizes for everyone and we'll be posting up a recap and an additional chance to win stuff for those who couldn't make it out. Thanks to those who came and donated. (and troll, at least you got my name right!)
