Re: Links 2k6 for the 360

MS bought the Links name from Access. MS then sold it to Take-Two/2K in late 2004 along with Links/Amped and Top Spin developer Indie Built when they got out of sports gaming.

Man with no new Links in sight (hopefully confirmed at E3) how I wish they would quickly gets Links 04 on that BC list.

I haven't heard a peep of emulation news since December.  Links 2004 definitely needs to be added to XBox 360 compatibility.  Does anyone know of a forum where XBox compatibility is discussed intelligently on the net?

I agreee, this game needs to be bwc. Sadly I don't know where I will find the time to build up my player again. Too bad you can't copy over profiles as well.

I heard that a new backwards compatibility update will be done in March.  But... sadly I have no reliable source to quote on that.

My son and I play TW 06 for the 360 religiously, but we also both love the Links Series.  Its ashame this game isn't BWC, or even confirmeed to have a new version in development.

This is definately something that would be fantastic to see.

Why hasn't Links risen from the ashes?  Such a crime.  There has not been a game that has even come close.

leave it to Shush to dig up a thread where the previous post was over 3 year old!!

lol

I haven't been looking in here too often, and it doesn't seem that many have.

what's up Shush

TW 10 isn't bad now.  I just picked it up, and they finally made the putting more "Links-like" in the sense that you now only have one-putter to cover the whole range.  It only took them 6 yrs to sort of catch up to Links on that one.   I hated the older TW putting with the cheesy 4 different putters.  It's what kept me from playing TW so far.  But, as I said, they finally changed it now.  And, they just got Fast Play (called "Stroke Simultaneous") in the prior '09 version, and that was a really important feature.  That one only took them 5 years after Links.  So, it's finally, imo, a pretty good game, as far as I can tell so far.  Lots of good courses, too.  And, it seems to have a lot more features and variables (green speed, green hardness, rough length, fairway hardness, differences in club sets, club tuning, etc) to tinker with --- no Driver flop shots allowed, either.  The chipping system kind of blows, but Links wasn't strong on that either, as you just used to take out your LW and chip-in regularly.

Glad to see you are still kicking around Shivas. Links is right up there with Moto GP as some of my most fondest memories of Xbox live. I am old and grouchy now so all I do is beat up on little kids in Halo 3. Keep Links Alive!

It's going to happen.  We don't really have an idea of when though.  Daryl Welsh, the Producer of Links 2004, has already confirmed that 2K Sports is working on the next Links for the XBox 360.  The development team apparently is composed of a number of the Links 2004 team members, which bodes well for the Links 2K6 (?), in my opinion.  We had a good thread going about that before the forums were reset.  I wish I'd had the foresight to save that thread before the plug got pulled.

I think I posted some information about that elsewhere.  I'll dig it up and post it here again.  Maybe we can get the discussion jump started.
