okay i just got a new 360 but it's a falcon am i still safe from the RROD or not ?

From what I had recently read a few weeks ago, I believe that the post said Falcon has about an 80% more likely chance of getting an RROD over a Jasper...I'm not quite sure but I believe thats what I remember reading...It's still not bad seeing how my first console was an original Xenon or w/e it's called and it lasted for 4 years...and only had to bring it in once for the disk tray not opening and open it once for a dust down(Overheating) I believe the odds of an RROD are pretty low...I'll get back to you when I get exact statistics...

just got my elite, all they had was the fable2/halo3 bundle, all gamestop had in stock. He told me it was a jasper, and insisted all xboxes were jaspers since '05 but when I got home i looked and it said 203w :(
I'll just be sure to buy the warranty. And i didnt get to check around like I said I would, I went in my friends car and was in a hurry to get home. Also halo3 and fable2 are in the same box so I dont think i can trade it in towards anything.

Yeah either or xbox's still last for quite awhile if you take good care of them, if you hadn't seen my last reply to someone else, they still last a good 3+ years at best...Although many people recommend you replace a console every year...Yeah the fact that the games are together devalues it everso...I had asked how much I could get off the Panda/Lego games he said about a dollar sinces it's basically free w/ the console...Try ebay if you actually want something ^^...unless your actually interested in the games...

That Gamestop chump lied to you, though you should of been more careful. not sure if the Jasper Elites have even hit the states as of yet. give a good excuse and return it back to them and use the credit to get an Arcade, or go somewhere else where you can save some money, but if you really want a Jasper Elite be patient and learn more from this forum with regards to finding one.

When walking into a shop always remember you are surrounded by people that likely earn a bonus for everything they sell. They are a shark like breed those salesmen, NEVER take their word for anything and always do your own research. I would be taking that straight back to the shop on principle.

yeah, I've noticed tons of european people commenting, "stores are loaded with Jasper elites"...I'm surprised not america...don't they sell more consoles here then all other countries combined...

Just the luck of the draw fella. As far as I know, I am the only person to mention them, but I have seen a number of them. They really do exist. The USA can't be too far away.

As far as falcons being reliable, my falcon elite just died and I've barely had it for a year.  I play on average 30 hours per week, in 6 to 8 hour increments late at night on my nights off.  This should NOT be too much wear and tear for a falcon but lo and behold it died on me tonight.  Gonna go to walmart and see if they have any Jaspers.

FYI I can't find a Jasper Elite anywhere here in San Antonio.  The elites still on the shelves here are from manufacture dates in July of '08 or sooner.  I found a 60gb Pro that SHOULD be a Jasper.  Lot number is 0917X and it was made in 2009, april or may I think.  I haven't opened it yet and I dunno how to really confirm that it's jasper without actually opening the xbox itself and looking at the chipset.  the power does read 12.1a like the OP stated and it's well past the lot number mentioned so I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't reaking die. 

I don't think I'll be an early adopter of MS's next xbox iteration.  I'll give it a year or two to see if it kills itself like this one does.

ok.. lets say you return your falcon for repairs, and they send you a jasper to replace it... now you have a jasper but a 203w or 175w power supply at home to power it... would that malfunction the jasper??

NO!  As said before, all consoles are backwards-compatible with all previous PSUs.  You won't have any problems...

I'm begining to think the older models seem more useful/reliable...Although as someone has said "You could cook eggs on them" to me, I've owned a Xenon and it lasted a good 3-4 years only repair required was the disk tray as I had said earlier...I could have easily opened the box and fixed my self, just needed a little dust off, again do to it freezing after it hit certain temp...aka Overheat w/o the two red lights it would last another 6 months...but I gave up thinking it's time to replace the console, and since that, I've been getting nothing but crappy customer service and broken falcons...

Eh, your probably better off with a pro anyhow...and your console sounds like a jasper...12.1A yup...other than the color I don't think elites are far off better...Just saying in my opinion I don't need that big a hardrive unless I were going to download all the seasons of south park or something random like that...Any how gl try to contact me and tell me if you notice a difference in how smooth your console runs/plays/graphics and all....

Yeah I was thinking about that yesterday...I'm not sure if they even replace the consoles...Someone random just recommended that someone else do that supposedly he got an upgraded console but idk about the cables...

I wish they'd just make the dang Pro black!  But then the elites would stop selling entirely lol.

I agree.  Although the elite bundle is tempting as it includes the HDMI cable which is $50 otherwise.  I'm in a bit of a bind as I have a 20 GB launch 360 and I want to upgrade to one that has HDMI and a bigger drive.  If only I could find a Jasper one I'd buy the elite in a second because I can't stomach having to buy a Pro and then paying $50 for the HDMI cable and $12.90 for the HDD transfer kit which both come included on the Elite.

Eh, the HDMI cable isn't really even worth it. Hard to tell if it's the console or the cable but there is much more graphics lag on the HDMI cable...from what I've experienced though...I had turned the console in for repairs do to it freezing up and it was only 1 day old...Hopefully they find the problem seeing how it only occurs on HDTV never on the regular component cables and hopfully the problem was the cable so they can give me a better one...

I used the hdmi cable when i got it home and the video was like 2% better (more "crisp", less blurry) however the audio was crackly, and i had to switch to the other wires, but that could just be my tv.

1. You're kidding right? I use a $4 HDMI cable from Monoprice.com
2. I've never seen a transfer kit with an Elite. Come to think of it, I've never seen them on sale anywhere either.

Can you use a standard HDMI cable on the 360?  I had no idea I thought it was a proprietary hookup like the component cables? 

As for the transfer kit, I spoke to customer support today and they said I could purchase a HDD Transfer kit from them for $12.90 or buy an Elite system as it is bundled with it.  It seems to come with the 120 GB Hard Drive if you buy that separately so perhaps they threw it into the Elite as well?

the elite comes with both, and you could use either, some tv's dont have hdmi ports on them.. personally I think the audio quality was too good for my poor little speakers on the tv so I had to use just the standard wires.

Right but I'm asking if any basic HDMI cable will work with the XBOX 360 or if I need the one that Microsoft sells as a $50 accessory?

EDIT: My TV is 1080p and does have HDMI inputs.

The console Hdmi hookup is universal not proprietary; so any Hdmi cable will do.

I finally got an update on the console turned in for repairs...I check my repair request and it's not there, so I check my warranty status and it says "Xbox 360 Exchange Elite"...Used to say "Xbox 360 Elite Bundle"...I don't know if it's a Jasper but I would be really happy if it were...I'll inform you soon...

Okay so i bought another 360, This makes it my third, And this is the plug/input on the console. Does any one know what it is ....Thank you

EDIT: I have no memory card, But it is say 256 or something like that 256 MU

Check the Amp rating on the CONSOLE. If it says 12.1 you have a Jasper buddy.If you have the 256 onboard memory then it is 99.9% certain you have a Jasper.
