They are not all Jaspers. Some guy has confirmed that the ones he saw were not.

New elite bundles with fable and halo 3 Are NOT jaspers in MD / NJ / DE all three states confirmed i work at gamestop . Word is Elite's are finished and will only be sold as special editions like RES-5 dont waste your time just get a arcade.

I would have to agree with your opinions on the GOTY bundles. Nobody has found a Jasper one. As for them getting rid of the Elites, I think you could be correct. I still think there are a few black Jaspers out there, althouggh it might be easier to locate Elvis.

Just Beat Halo 3 on Legendary 11/10/2009

Has anyone confirmed a Black Elite Jasper. Even one? I can't see why everyone is so hell bent on these. I settled for a WHITE JASPER PRO! It was an extreme pain finding that over all the Jasper Arcades out there. Yes my gear is all Black except the Wii and my new Jasper Pro. I also saved $100 bucks though over and Elite Falcon that might Red Ring on me. I can't see $100 more for 60 more gigs of hardrive when 60 is more than sufficient over the old 20Gig. Nope can't have my $100 more for a black case and control, poorer hardware, and double hardrive. Even when the Jasper Elites are out I wouldn't do it.

There have been 2 sightings that I am aware of, one in Germany, one in Japan. None here in UK. Although I do think that we are close. I really want the extra space as I intend to install a couple of games to the hard drive and I intend on paying out for some DLC in the Future. Also, I'm sure that in the next few years there will be more features and things available that utilize the extra capacity. Plus, I just don't like the white Xboxes as much as the black. I have considered it many times, but still holding out for an Elite. The red ones were ALL Jaspers.

My elite is a Falcon purchased 05/19/2009. The mfg date is 06/06/2008, lot #0822. It runs really quite and has the BENQ dvd drive. and DC brushless fans.

It's and elite with fable and halo 3, I talked to a rep in the support and he assured me they have the Jasper chipsets in their elite bundle. I'll check it out and see what I find, if that guy lied to me though I'll be very angry

In my experience, it is worth mentioning that I never trust a salesman. They are trying to sell you something and are likely linked to a commision plan, which means you should remember that he could be biased. When I think of salesmen I always remember the guy that used to work at the local gym and flog various protein powders and remedies. His sales patter would flip flop all over the place, with the same product being offered for the solution to quite different problems. In each case it would always be based on what the potential customer wanted to hear. To the bald guy, in addition to muscle boosting, the protein powder could encourage natural hair growth. 5 minutes later the very same product would offered to a guy complaing about too much hair on his body, "hey this stuff can reduce unsitely body hair". This guy was quite the most accomplished salesman I have ever met, and could always be assured of a nice income from the new guys.

I'm not saying the guy can't supply the Jasper, just be cautious and check the returns policy. Caveat emptor

Yea, I will return it if it isn't a Jasper.

Maybe if we are lucky it actually might be one, I mean things are getting newer all the time, so I can't rule out the possibility.

Well, I'm getting a new Arcade tomorrow as my 3rd 360 (I had 2 RRoD) has now lost video - no RRod and no error message, so I'm screwed in terms of MS taking care of it.  So I'm going to toss my hard drive onto a *new* arcade and be done wiht it - I'm trading in my busted Xbox towards the cost, so that lessens the pain a bit.

SO - I have made copious notes about what to look for and the guy at Gamestop said he'd go through all the consoles with me until we found one.

  The thing I didn't understand about finding a Jasper is the talk about memory - 256 - internal/external.......Um.....what???  Can someone explain this to me so I know what I'm looking for?

The 256 Memory used to be in the form of an external unit on the old arcades. When Jasper launched, they put the memory on the inside as they needed it for NXE. So if you switch on your machine and go to memory it should show the 256 inside. If it does, you have a Jasper.

Look for LOTS 842x or higher.

OH - OK - so not something I can determine from the outside - will have to wait until I get home and turn it on.

  So basically what you are saying is that when I click on Memory - I should see the hard drive listed there *and* an additional 256Mb, right?

Well there may be a way of telling from the outside, but I have been focussed on finding an Elite Jasper and so I have tended to skim read the Arcade stuff. On an Arcade it is easy to see the Amp rating by looking through the little window in the box. If it says 12.1A then you should snatch it straight away as it is a Jasper and will have the 256 onboard memory. The easiest way is to look at the LOT number (egFDOU842x or CSON 844), which can tell you if it is worth looking at the box in any greater detail. If it is 842 or higher then you should look through the window. Be aware though that some boxes have the LOT given as a repacked date (which could be very different from the manufacturing date/LOT, eg ABIR 906), and so I would always look through the Window for the Amps. It might be worth you giving page 1 of this thread a glance as I think there are more details there. If you have a store assistant that is pretty friendly then you have half won the battle.

At this point, almost any Arcade you find in a store will be Jasper. Arcade consoles move quickly, so the stock you see and can buy should be relatively recent. But the easiest way is to look through the serial number hole for the 12.1A rating.

How to find a Jasper console!

Thanks everyone.

  I did indeed snag a Jasper Arcade yesterday.  I was fortunate to have a very cool store clerk who asked to see my list of requirements and we peered through the side of the box to look at amps, manufacture date, etc. We couldn't find a lot number on there to save our lives, but all else looked well, so we didn't worry about it. 

  Got home, hooked it up, snapped on my hard drive, did initial set up and lo and behold - the 256 internal memory appears.

I've gone to rediculous lengths to find a Jasper Pro, only to find that almost all big box retailers locally have Lot No: 0846X which all have been labeled with 14.2A.  I've seen at least 40 to 50 Pros in the last week, all Falcons.  I'm not sure I understand how a console made in November of last year is so prevalent in May (almost June) where the Arcades have almost from the beginning been Jaspers.  Makes me wonder if something is up.

Read: don't buy a 0846X if you're holding out for a Jasper.

Do you want the elite Jasper just for the color?   Otherwise, it seems to me that buying and Arcade and adding a 120 hard drive to it is essentially the same.   I realize you won't get the HDMI cable but isn't that about it or am I missing something else?

Yes, the colour is the main thing for me. And I have considered the Arcade + 120 GB route, but in the UK that would cost me £149 for the Arcade and then a further £89 for the 120GB. I don't need the HDMI yet, but when I do, I don't really want to have to shell out for that + the dongle (you get free with the Elite) that allows me to get sound too (£15). Then I would have to buy the headset too (£15). This takes the cost to £278, and it is still not the colour I want. The Elites are going for £229 for the same amount of stuff in the box. The £50 difference would be better spent on a couple of games. In the US the accessories are cheaper and also, many of the people that have gone this route already have the headset which makes it a more appealing option.

For these reasons, I have held out so far, and who knows, MS might announce something pretty cool that could be included in any future bundle purchase. So I sit and wait. They could always announce that they are discontinuing the Elite, in which case the price could drop. Either way, I can wait a week or 2. And lets be honest, the Elite Jaspers have not even really put in an appearance yet, so they would be tough to find even if I knew they were out there.
