Yeah, I'd been playing it practically all day for over a week before I went from 1.8 billion to 2 billion. Definitely the one mode you NEED to play consistently to have any real chance of beating your score.

IMO, you shouldn't overplay pacifism. That's my theory. This is why: yesterday I decided to play pacifism since it had been a while and the fact that it's my weakest mode. In the five first games, I scored 2.1billions and 2.3 billions. Then, I thought I played good so I kept playing and in the 15 other games that followed, only ONE was over a billion. moral of the story: don't overplay pacifism, because after a number of games it becomes useless. You get frustrated and that affects your skill negatively.

I think Im gonna make a highlight video and put it on youtube. A lot of the games I have end up having some unbelievable escapes. Earlier today I was totally dead and pulled off 200M points within 20 seconds on Evolved.

Completely agree with you Chuck. My 1st games always seem to be the best - like, almost beating my high score.. but it's so up and down after that. I tend to overthink it once i get a bad game, so i think its all in the head!

Agree x1000 here. I'm playing ALL modes so poorly right now, I'm going to take a week-long break, because something's wrong in my head, when it comes to this game (my wife would argue that it's not limited to GeomWars...). Scoreboard monitoring app will continue running during my hiatus...

King scores today:  16M, 17M, 18M, 20M twice!  I'm getting insanely consistent, but still no new high score  :(  I think I hit 20M 6 times in the last week.  As the saying goes, I am so due for a breakout game.

haha right on.  I probably haven't scored over 70m in Deadline since I broke 100m last week, but I've been having a blast trying to figure out the difficulty system + trying to stay alive in chaotic situations.  I really feel like I'm getting better at making smart moment-to-moment decisions, like when to shoot or carving the simplest path out of a group of dudes.

I definitely like the idea of a highlight video to capture those awesome holy *** moments, which this game is just full of.  Gotta get some kind of video capture solution in place.

Yesterday was OK, I managed to get a pretty decent 56m run in 4 gates. I'm working on the basis of Geoms first Gates second play, kinda the opposite of Thors tactic o_O. I just know that if I get a new highscore it'll be something immense!

woo hoo broke 100m again today, juuust barely.  Improving my first-minute game and getting smarter about when to bomb makes a lot of difference.  I look forward to 100m becoming an average game 8)

Today's best Evolved score: 429M. I tell you something, though, I really AM on the verge of something HUGE.

I had 4 lives and 5 bombs at 250M, only nerves stopped me from getting something truly spectacular. Even on my last life, if I hadn't gotten unlucky with a black hole, I could quite easily have had 600-700M at the end of that game.

My gameplay really has improved quite a lot and I can now more or less "mind read" the game so I shouldn't get as unlucky as often anymore.

Barring nerves, I should hopefully have my 4th Top 10 score in the next few days!

Tekken 6 just came out so I may be forced to take a short break from gw :3  Though I just had a great breakthrough yesterday on my opening game on Deadline where I was able to consistently score around 3m and 500 geoms by 1 minute, which for me is a bit of a revelation.  All I had to do was be more aggressive about collecting geoms, and this apparently has an impact on spawn rate!  I love how long it takes me to figure these things out...... anyway it was exciting to suddenly be having all these 60m point games, and I think my main problem now is getting better about bombing.  Can't count how many times I die needlessly because I couldn't bring myself to believe that a given situation was hopeless (it almost never is, at least in my imagination).

ohh I can just taste 150m

New King score, 21.8M  :) 

Too bad I didn't get 23M just to seal the deal with the score I got offline, but either way my goal is 30M now.

Wow... I have this all spaced out into 5 paragraphs (Had to program the HTML just to get the half quantum singularity spacing) and its not spacing it. 3+ returns and nothing, another question when you're done telling me how to not be bad would be how to use a paragraph on these forums to prevent Wall of Text... lol

I just started playing this game and I love it. My scores are still terrible but I break them multiple times a day (on day five). I couldn't help but to notice how stupidly hard the games get at certain score thresholds (FAAAAAAAAR under the scores you guys report) and it SEEMS like it's just not possible to get past it (esp in Deadline and Evolved). Is there something I'm missing? Do you guys have an exploit that works well (such as sit in a corner and fire or whatever). Or is it just a matter of playing mass hours and getting better and better by just reactively using the whole game board?

Basically, my question is how do I get better... faster, at t his game. This game is amazing and I'm getting the use of a 60 dollar game out of it so far (more actually) :) All the advice from you goods is much appreciated.

Just for a sample of how bad I am my scores are 1) 2.5mil 2) 4.9m 3) 7.6mil 4) 94m 5) 2.5m 6) 24m

Not even in the same ball park (to a stupid degree) off of you goods. Is it a matter of more play or more study (of what good people do) to improve at a better rate. Thank you much ^

To answer your question succinctley - you need to practice, practice, practice... and then practice. A lot. I've been playing this game for 12 months, and am ranked in the top 400. Not great, not too shabby though.

Check out BLACKMACH1NE on youtube - he's one of the very best players there are, as are a lot of the regular posters on here.

Good luck with it all - it will certainly suck up a lot of your time! :)

Well you're probably on the right track already: learn the rules, the tactics, and play play play.  Read through the forum here for info on the various modes, and I'd say feel free to bump good-but-dormant tactics threads.  Personally I'd be happy to answer questions and theorize about stuff (at least on Deadline mode heh).  And reading through this score thread may give you a sense of how fast people tend to progress when they put their minds to it.  I'd guess that any top 1000 score is reachable within a month, give or take, depending on where you're starting from skill-wise.  As for learning from other people, that's always a good idea, but ultimately you'll benefit the most from taking a proactive approach and exploring the game yourself and learning how to answer the questions that come to mind naturally when you're engaged (that's a big part of the reward of playing IMO).
