Wow, well said. That is exactly what I was thinking and why I thought puting up a High score Sequence video would ruin the game mode.

Well, I'd be surprised if a good player who's been trying at a mode for a long time simply copied tricks.  I mean, a video like that would have a lot of good ideas in it, but an experienced player is going to bring a lot of their own ideas, and there's definitely going to be some kind of vetting process based on personal style and judgment.  Also, it's worth pointing out that sometimes just seeing someone else do something you've been trying to do for a while can help break through mental barriers, renew perspective and invigorate one's drive.  So that kind of thing is helpful IMO, but I wouldn't overblow it personally.

IIRC hector already had a pretty hefty score on Sequence. Hes a skilled player and I consider him to be one of the top 5 GW2 players. If he did get some strategy off my video I dont think it was much. I do think people will copy that video though but it doesnt bother me. I got some tips off of youtube when I first started playing.

I disagree completely with Chuck in this case. Thats like saying, Thor posting his 151m Deadline game, opened the doors for BM, Myself and Khaled, but that wasn't the case, we'd all been beavering away at the mode, and passed the score of our own backs! Afterall, we are fundamentally finishing it ourselves, with our own skills. Same with Thor posting his 139m Waves highscore (which is amazing BTW) just cause you've seen it on a video, doesn't mean that you can do it!

I personally thank BM, for uploading that video, as it was both entertainment and a learning experience.

Now to use a Hexic reference that only Arcade Meister will get...Its alot like MMCs in Hexic, before that the game was dull and took ages. When the MMC came around scores kept increasing and increasing. It was a serious puzzle, till one of the creators of such explained what was going on and how it was done. Then using artistic license other people learnt how to create MMCs of their own and so the legacy continues. It will only help! Afterall though Chuck, you are #1 and your score may only ever be beaten by Thor, so you can't be too sure.

Sorry if i'm ranting, I do respect your skill more than you'll know, and i'm glad you posted here. But from where i'm sitting, its as if you just slapped Hector in the face, instead of really being pleased for the guy. I'm sure you more than anyone would like competition?

ok all the BS below is irrelevant to what u people are talking about
today i just had ONE game of evolved i died by a frigging rocket that approaches you form the bottom
so i decided to play the 1st version
ahhh that gun so muchbetter then the 2nd one
you dont have to worry about rockets hitting you while circle strafing (not sure bout spelling on that)
dont have to worry about dying early
you can spread out your shots easily
you can easily get out of snake spawns cause the gun is so much better UNLIKE THE 2ND ONE

in the 2nd one when ever you shoot a black hole and enemies starting getting sucked it the game uses it as an excuse to Bull***t you

gw1 has its virtues for sure.  One of them is not random gun changing :(  I do miss that rapid spread shot sometimes though

Agreed.  I do think the videos on YouTube are misleading for players too, insofar as that most are breakout games which come along once in a hundred/thousand/million games (depending on your skill level)!  That means what you see can look convincingly easy when it’s actually nothing like it.  Some showcase impossible-looking manoeuvres, great passages of skill, whereas in others it's all neat and smooth and easy: a coasting 100m+ in Deadline, which can completely undermine the peril and difficulty of the mode.  Many runs have a lot of luck.  Some might say there's the use of rank-dropping techniques.  But it’s hard to duplicate any kind of play on a conscious level.  Although, I take the point that Sequence may be different because you can learn some tricks.

For me, Sequence becomes more of a joy to play when you are more experienced and competent with each level; when you can clear each without worrying about silly deaths.  I developed my own strategies for levels 10, 17, and 18 for example.  For 16 though, I did look at a YouTube video to avoid the circle spawn but truth is I gave up on it: fact was, I need those gates so I do the loop around trick and can nail it 9/10 times now.

Hector is a top player and it comes as no surprise he’s up there.

New Sequence score, 279.9M, rank 11.  BLACKMACH1NE's video was helpful for me, specifically stage 8, the rest I still play the same.  I already knew how to end it with 45M-ish but seeing his method helped me get it more consistently.  I still messed it up a bit though and finished with 38M, and died on stage 15.  I should be getting a new score soon.

I am just in a major slump right now, cant seem to do well in any mode at all, in general im not getting any where close to my highscores.  On the bright side i beat my deadline score by 200 thousand......... joy :( fml

I completely agree with the guns. I love the guns from GWRE1.
I used to hate the gun in '2. I still don't like it but I've learned to live with it.
If this gun had a little more spread and fire rate this game would be so much fun.
They could make the game bats'crazy to compensate. I'd much rather be have control in total bats' madness than be out of control in just madness (like it is now).

I disagree. This gun makes you compensate with accuracy and control of your ship. Much more skill needed on GW2. On GW1 you end up losing because you lose your multiplier. Everything here is earned.

FINALLY!!!! After a dozen games of coming close I beat my pacifism score.  A new highscore of 923.8 million. Moved up 20 places on the overall board too. I could of gotten 1 billion quite easily but my nerves/excitement got the better of me and i ran into the end of a gate.

 Moving on to deadline for a while to see if i can beat that score.

New highscore on deadline is 54 million, i know i could of gotten higher since i had a terrible last 40 seconds, o well maybe next time.

I played a bunch this weekend and tried making my first videos (turns out my camera does an OK job, though it's just not as crisp as I want), hoping that will help out as a training tool.  As for scores, I did capture a 90m attempt, which was kinda cool, but mostly I'm paying attention to that first minute and trying to get a better sense of the rank system.  Also I played a game where I finished with like 3500 multiplier, which is the highest I can remember getting.  Pretty stoked about that.
