They would have had to have it on the Original Xbox to bring it to the Marketplace.  They have enough trouble trying to emulate their OWN games, do you guys HONESTLY think they're gonna go through the hassle of emulating a Dreamcast game?  Part 2 maybe, but Part 1?  It would be nice because I'm a Shenmue fan too but realistically guys, dream on.

Yeah I've been saying that for a while now, but if they really wanted to they could port it, like they did with Ikaruga.

BTW: REZ and IKARUGA (both on Marketplace) are Dreamcast-Games...

Yeah but how much trouble do you honestly think it took to emulate either one of those (simplified) games?  Look at the titles you just mentioned versus Shenmue.  It ain't as simple as "Oh we cloned the Dreamcast engine so now we can run their whole library", sorry dudes reality check.  I believe its a little more involved than that.

Not to mention, its not like they haven't started working on Shenmue 3, they just didn't finish it.  Lazy bums.

Oh, I totally agree with you. I never said it was realistic or likely, only that it is possible.

I do have a feeling that a DC game is pretty easy to emulate/port, due to the number of DC games we've seen rereleased on other systems, but again, that's just my feeling.

Re: The call for Shenmue

I had a Dreamcast and played Shenmue religiously, I am actually thinking of buying one again from ebay for Shenmue and Shenmue II, I had Shenmue II on Xbox but didnt finish it before some butt plug stole my copy.. I hope it does indeed go up on XBL, but as Shenmue II was on Xbox and Shenmue was not on Xbox would they still release this game the first game? I hope they release both to XBL and SEGA does Shenmue III!!

Soul Calibur is coming out for XBLA soon.  That's definitely not a simplified game at all.  While it's not quite as complex as Shenmue, it's still not as simple as Rez or Ikaruga.  Add that to the fact that the Dreamcast ran on a modified version of Windows CE and I'd think a port to a Microsoft system wouldn't be too far fetched.

Re: Betreff: Re: The call for Shenmue

I don't want to bring everybody hope down after I say this. But I just don't see shenmue 3 coming on this generation of console. Sega has said it many times. that there no plans on making shenmue 3 at the moment. So this means if shenmue 3 will not be release. there is no point in bringing shenmue 2 to the marketplace. Think about it why would sega waste their time on porting shenmue 2 to the marketplace if shenmue 3 will not come out on this generation? My advice is to forget about thinking about shenmue 2 making it to the marketplace and move on with your lives. there are other great games coming out for all 3 systems. you should focus on those new realeases and give shenmue series a rest for some years. I don't want to sound mean but I am also a big fan of shenmue and I really want to see a continuation of the series just like any of you guys.  But I just don't see shenmue 3 happening for a long time and I hope I am wrong and shenmue 3 does get release within the following years. But is not likely at this stage.

Well since we're all in agreement that MS has no prob with porting old Dreamcast titles, I say they they give us Grandia II.  I'd love to play that again.

Haha I doubt that they will do Dreamcast titles as a rule as there are still so many XBox originals left to do. But If I could make a request it would be either the Dreamcast version of LOK Soul Reaver or RE Code Veronica.. :P

Re: The call for Shenmue

What's the point of putting this on XBOX Live???  They'll charge like 1200 points for it like they ludicrously do with all the other XBOX originals.  A price which forces me to pay $25.00 for a block of points that I need to pay for it.  And especially when you can find used Shenmue 2's at many Gamestops in America for like $4.99 (with the Shenmue 1 DVD!).

Nah, this isn't worth it.

Re: The call for Shenmue
Microsoft don't give 10 craps about what anybody here think, sadly but its true, the game would probably take a long *** time to put on xbox because of its complicity, and its not a big hit, plus so many companys own the rights of the game, they'd be way to much royalities flying out.

Shenmue 1-2 isn't coming on market and Shenmue 3 is defaintly not being released, they could of wrote a noval for the ending of shenmue 3 for dirt cheap, but they dont care, they havent, everyones just wasting their hope, microsoft putting their money in other projects, well.. 90% of it goes into their own fat pockets.

Re: The call for Shenmue

It was last week rumoured that Shenmue III could be in top-secret development at Sega, the Japanese publisher plotting an E3 unveiling in July.

Speculation that the celebrated RPG series could be set for a third offering saw forum users getting more than a little excited, but we don't think anything is for certain, Sega offering "no comment" when pressed on the game's existence.

Quite where this chit-chat emerged from remains unclear, although Sega's recent announcement that it has licensed Epic's Unreal Engine technology for a new title was greeted by the advent of these rumours pointing to Shenmue III.

So, it could all be nonsense. We'll let you know more on this as soon as we do.

Alright guys, time to start asking publicly.  Go to The Shenmue Myspace link below, print up some "We want Shenmue III" posters from the pics section, and start putting them up around your city (parks, schools, videogame stores).  On July 15-17 someone get down to the LA convention center for E3 and post them up there to!  Take any pictures of these posters up and send them to me.

Even better, someone set up a Lucky hit stand across from E3!!!
