Trials was much more fun today, beat the Extreme Tracks and am working on my times/scores for that game's leaderboards.

one time i turned on my xbox when went on gw2, looked at the evolved selection, then i just said to my self : dont even think about it then switched it off 

I'm afraid for me my Evolved path is only just begginning :(

lol I hit 1 gate on stage 11 and died. died early on 14. died on 15. finished 16 with a personal record up to that point. Bombed and died on 19 and died early on 20 and still had 307

Unlucky on the score. Until your post, there hadn't been a post in this thread for over 5 days! That's gotta be a record.

I think MW2 is taking up most people's time right now but hopefully, there'll be a huge influx of highscores soon.

I took a self-imposed week-long hiatus from the game because, like BlackMach1ne (though I'm eons short of his skill or level of effort), the game started being less about having fun, and more about climbing the scoring ladder. In some respects, writing that scoreboard monitoring app might have made me too focused on that, and while I continue to make improvements to that application, I'm trying hard to just enjoy playing, and not get obsessed about things (such as getting onto the Deadline Top 1000).

Notable scores in the last few weeks... let's see:
Edubcavs had a few jumps in Sequence, up to #31 (at the time, he might've slipped a spot or two since...)
EAP Raven went from 10th to 8th on Evolved on 11/6.
Inklings has been working on all modes, and on 11/6 upped their score in Sequence twice in one hour, then improved King and Deadline in the same day. Waves got improved two days later. Evolved 4 days after that.

The app itself has been very solid - it doesn't crash at all anymore, and having it log to a file, as well as on screen, is great. Still haven't implemented a "Friends List", and some pretty graphing. Also still need to put in some filtering, so I can find out some really stupid, useless info, like, "Who's top-100 in Waves, but unranked in Deadline, Evolved, and Sequence".

Other than that, it's good to be playing again, and taking it all a little easier. :)

The Geometry Wars gods continue their cruelty:

1.219B Pacifism, not connected to XBox Live still. At least I know I can get there... Woulda been #175.

So, subtract the 107 from my current total rank in Pacifism, and the 254 ranks I woulda picked up in Sequence yesterday, and my ranking sum would have been somewhere around 3,586 or so, which would have put me at 249th overall. Instead, I'm still at 338th. Still having fun, tho. ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really don't know how anyone can play the game offline. The psychological barrier of trying to beat your score can be bad enough sometimes without the added knowledge that you've done it but it hasn't registered.

I recommend playing a similar game that you're not as focussed on leaderboards (e.g. MSR in my case, maybe the first Geo Wars etc). You still keep the shmup skills sharp without running the risk of heartache.

Yeah, I guess in most cases, it isn't too bad but what if you had this truly sensational Deadline game where you got 175+M, only to not have the #1 you truly deserve from doing it? If I'd gotten my current Deadline score offline, gutted wouldn't be the word so I could only imagine how it would be if someone got a score good enough for #1 (same goes for any mode but I'm using Deadline as the example as that's your mode of choice.)

Well I would sure as hell take a picture ;)  But yeah that would be pretty arrrgh for sure.  All I'm sayin is I would try to take the long view, basically.  When I obsess too much about high scores it makes the game way more tedious since in reality I have a lot to learn still, and though high scores are the overall goal, I feel like I gotta keep my focus on the progress I'm making otherwise I'll get impatient and it kind of short-circuits the process.  Also, I know that no matter what goals I set, as soon as I achieve them I'll end up setting higher ones anyway :P

If I set a WR offline I would seriously never turn off my xbox and protest until bizarre acknowledged it

Made some modest improvement in Deadline tonight.  Catchin up to syntax a bit there ooo dang

Lately I've been trying to slow down a bit and not rush so much; like when a gate is kind of out of reach, just playing it safe and doing another loop while it randomly floats around, betting on surviving long enough to get a better shot at it later vs diving in for a harrowing-but-usually-suicidal attempt hehe

Finally made it onto the Deadline Top 1000 at #647 with 38.766M. This should move me up to #264 overall, giving me the not-so-desired title of, "Worst overall player who's on all six leaderboards". :)

Is anyone out there? No news from any of you other scorechasers? :(

It's "scorehunters". Hehe, only messing. Good job on getting into all 6 Top 1000s.

I've only played very briefly the last 2 days and have very little to report. Rusty as hell in Pacifism and getting screwed in Evolved but playing well.

Others are faring better, however, as I and many other members of the overall Top 10 have lost quite a few ranks recently.

I haven't been playing as much these days, but had my first promising looking Pacifism run in a while, 996M.  I had all kinds of room to score a lot more, but it was the quick glance at the score that killed me  : (  I tweaked my strategy a bit, and hopefully soon I'll have a breakout run to get me in the overall top 10.

Captured on video a strong attempt in Deadline where I had 90m+ with 30 seconds on the clock and ended up not breaking 100.  I'll try to find some time tonight to upload it if anyone wants to see some CHOKIN :3
