As far as I know there's always been a demand for the next KI game and even rumors of one's development. Now with the Marketplace how it is I think more and more of us are really hoping for emulated versions of the originals. Also with Rare developing new titles for the 360 there's hope for a revisit to the franchise. As I've posted before I'd rather see the originals on XBLA with arcade perfect with Live support rather than a new entry in the series (haven't been too happy SF and MK's attempts to move into 3D territory).
Back in the early to mid 90's when I would frequent arcades I'd always play the latest MK, SF, and of course KI offerings. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat have gotten their retro treatment on recent platforms, so hopefully Killer Instinct will get the attention it deserves. As I've also posted in another forum, the emulated version out there runs on DirectX VERY smoothly so it wouldn't take too much to just get it running on the hardware, the majority of the work would be getting live support in.
Killer Instinct will probably forever be my favorite entry in the fighting genre. Keeping my finger's crossed on this one as usual.
Oh i would love this. With Capcom doing nothing but remakes, instead of updating the franchise. KI was one of the next favorite picks for 2d fighting games i loved in the day.
good post

Acutally, there was suppose to be a KI III. that was set to come out but was never release for some reason or another. I think it had to do with NES wanting to go in another direction but not sure. will do more research to clarify. However when MS brought out RARE, everyone was sure that they would come out with one of there greatest titles. (I think the other game that was in demand was 007, and PD) However, from what I have researched, Rare owns the rights to the title, but NES still owns the rights to Some of the developements of the characters and And have the right to relesase. From what I can tell NES was not letting up on working with with RARE. Until there was news about RARE relaese a couple of titles for the DS and I think theWii system. I'm hoping that was the ice breaker that will finally get KI to the 360....only time will tell.

I'd really be interested to see what you can find on KI3. I really don't remember ever hearing anything official on it other than Rare was potentially working on another fighting game at one point that was rumored to be KI3. I could definitely be wrong though.
On the other front, I've been trying to find who exactly owns the rights to the previous KI games and everything points to Rare. The only variable I'm not sure of is the technology that the arcade games ran on I believed was co-developed between Nintendo and Williams, which I beleive was a prototype of the Nintendo 64 called the Ultra 64. That's something I'd have to do more looking into. Williams definitely published the arcade titles though while Nintendo published the home versions (this can be seen on Rare's web site). What this means for the fate of these games appearing on 360 I can't say for sure.

OK, if money the issue, check who dropping this holiday. You wanna sell consoles and hear a little less about BC then please put this game out. Its a cant miss investment on both side, and if not... why torture us by putting their names in PDZ? Seeing the names started my thirst for the UUULLLLTTTRAAA all over again. C,MON RARE AND M$ SCATCH OUR ITCH!!!
C'mon MS and RARE hear our cry!!! I know we are not the only ones that are longing for this title. It only makes sense!!! You want to make a profit. We want a product. It's called Supply and Demand....Let's get this started...
I agree!... come on RARE... let us enjoy again this great game... Killer Instincts Rock!!!!.... como put it itno Arcade Marketplace.. I dont care about Microsoft points...
There have been multiple forums on this but let's see if we can keep this one bumped. Come on people, if you want to see a new KI title or the originals on XBLA archive let the world know. Just sign with your gamertag to keep this thread alive and show your support!

Yes, Let the world know time to speak up.....
*attempted bump*
Just curious as too how much interest one of these threads can generate.
Ill sign all these until somebody say we get it. Killer Instinct 3 god yes!
Another way to get my money.
Killer Instinct 1 on xbox live arcade arcade perfect with all the videos music sound and voices. (the snes version did not even come close)
Killer Instinct 1 on xbox live arcade arcade perfect with all the videos videos music sound and voices.. (N64 version some ways better but still missing things due to storage space)
arcade Killer Instinct 1 included as an extra for Killer Instinct 3 in a "special edition package"
Killer Instinct 1 and 2 use a hard disk to store the videos IT would make it about 100Mb in size.. Still less than a high def video already there. So everything should be in it on xbox live arcade. I am expecting it if I am paying for it.
Optional online play but If gauntlet(still sad it has no music) and street fighter, mortal kombat 3 on xbox live arcade can have it this should too..
I used to monkey around with the machine because my friend at the arcade owned it, the thing had a sweet amount of "dip switches" and even a menu that was rare for an arcade machine back then.
