Re: FEELING OLD !!!

Hi guys,

31 going on 32,

Ive been a peeping tom in this thread for awhile and though I would come out (of the bushes).

It is definitly refreshing to see like aged folk who juggle older/adult responsibilities as well as retain the passion for the box (possible double meaning).

Loved the DAAS quote I'll have to dig up the old Big Gig tapes.

I know its been done in a thousand threads before but I thought if anyone knows what will be a good arcade game then it'd be us.

I would love Hyper Olympics, giving the A button a thrashing from a 20cent coin container (can ya still get them?)or a cigerette lighter (can a still get them?). And a game thats got a few different names but i knew it as Black Tiger......man i used to pinch 20cent coins from dads secret stash and head to the takeaway shop down the road at 7am when they opened and play till noon.

Seems weird now to leave the house to play your favourite game?

Re: FEELING OLD !!!

Have been reading through this forum this morning and have not laughed so much in ages. I'm 35 and have only recently bought the new 360. Have just finished FEAR and LOVED IT. Am yet to get myself organised with XBOX Live.

Bit of background: first gaming system, cannot remeber the name of the system, but the game it played was the classic "Pong" tennis. Dad and I played it for hours at a time. Owned an Atari for a few years, lost interest in the home gaming and basically spent a lot of money at the arcades. Anyone remember Dragon's Lair or Space Ace? Finally got back into it with the NES, SuperNes, Nes64 and then into XBox. Basically, not very good at any game I play, but I enjoy it. Favourite on XBox is Halo and have had a few Halo sessions at mate's place with 12 of us networked. We were supposed to get on the turps, even organised for wife to pick me up but we all forgot to drink.

In case Troppo is reading, man that was funny, I do have a life, a job, a wife and a little girl, this is called a hobby, I assume that we are allowed to have one of these things at our age.

Also, while we are talking TV shows, does anybody remember a show with a boy that goes to some island and has a talking flute. There was a character called Witchipoo or something, can never remeber the name of it.

Nobodies talked music yet, or don't we go there? Funniest (and scariest) line I heard from a song that was released about a year or so ago was  "When did Motley Crue become classic rock".

Anyway, gotta go, daughter has swimming lessons.

I don't know how you could ever forget the name "H.R. Pufnstuf", I remember rushing home from school to watch it, although now that I think about it that would have to be one of the creepiest kids shows of all time, that Witchiepoo was one of the scariest characters (both in looks and demeanor). I'm sure that the title has something to do with how the creators came up with the idea too, because to come up with something as strange as this show, they had to have been tokin' on something if not poppin' some pills.

YES!! HR Pufnstuff. That was strange as but it was great. I think just about every show on TV around that time was a result of some kind "vision". Like Herman the Sea Monster and a heap of others I can't remember but remember watching.

Hey, I'm looking at getting Lost Planet. Is this as good as it looks? If anyone can comment that'd be great.

Also, if anybody can comment on the Wireless Network adaptor for the 360 that'd also be great. I have Bigpond Cable and a DLink wireless router. Is the 360 wireless OK or does it lag a bit. Sorry, but I'm really new to the whole On-line gaming, in fact, when I get it together, I'll be a virgin.

Re: FEELING OLD !!!

Hey cougar, music is something i can talk about under water with a mouth full of marbles. People can get confused and think i'm a bit when i put my music selection on random. It can play Metallica one minute then Sarah Mclachlan the next, then Radiohead the next. All old school though. I prefer to call the music of our gen old school because to me classic means Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath.

Played in a semi successful band in south east Queensland and my final gig was BDO on the gold coast a couple of years ago, on the year Metallica played and my best mate played on the same stage as me with he's band. Thought it was a good time to hang up the axe. Metallica made me pick up a guitar so i thought it was fitting that they should be the ones to help me hang it up, still make some noise every now and then at home Music [8]

Music has and always will be my drug of choice Cool [H]

I got a Dlink router and wireless network adapter and works fine, no lag compared to when i used a cable. Although i seem to get a bit of lag when i hear Brokens chainsaw revving up, or maybe its me crapping my self Embarrassed [:$]

Anyone remember News Free Zone? Bang Goes the Budgie? Watched some Goodies on DVD recently, very weird.

Spent many dollars/hours playing Silkworm, Operation Wolf and Double Dragon (which I hear is headed for Live Arcade Party!!! [<:o)]).

Was in several bands as well for a long time (were did those years go?). Never got anywhere, was frequently paid in beer, but had a great time. Saw Pearl Jam recently on their tour. Hard to believe they've been going for 15+ years.

speaking of music I was a total Bogan, Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeath, Iron Maiden, AC/DC(of course) then I grew into the old Grunge of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, also bands like Van Halen, Def Lepard then evolved into Industrial like Fear Factory, Nine Inch Nails and Korn.

Now I listen to what ever is on the radio as my tastes have gone more visual than audio,

has anyone watched the 300 movie preview?

Yep. Looks superb. Can't wait. Although the going to the movies is yet another privilege overtaken by the responsibilities of parent hood. Maybe wait for DVD or will it be HD-DVD by then? (the player's out late March I hear).

Okay here is my little chime in!  (Sorry if they have been mentioned in the last nine pages)

TV:
Thunderbirds
Gilligans Island (black and white)
MASH (yeah has never really gone away)
Kimba the white lion
What up Doc (Sophie should have been banned from kids TV:) )
Simon Townsends Wonder World (Woodro!!  hehehehehehe )
For queensland viewers: Agros Cartoon connection
Shirls neighbourhood

Games
Gauntlet
Pheonix
Gyruss
Ikari Warriors C64
Wizball C64
Mission impossible C64 (Stay a while! STAY FOREVER.)
Elevator Action
Maniac Mansion C64 (Bloody tentical!)

Music:
Way to long to list but first tape I ever bought - Bon Jovi Slippery when Wet the last was Kilswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies.   My brother was a made metal head so scammed of him from 73 to 86.

Yes Duck we spent and drank way to much at that damn Playroom. It is funny how we would take $40 out and have dollar drinks all night and buy no kebabs and still end up with no money the next day.   Ooowww  40 shot hangover......

Wouldnt you love a dollar for everytime you have heard "Blister in the Sun" at a pub or club!!
