Eventually you will find these boosters easily, no problems, and you will be able to collect them nice and easy every time, I know it sounds crazy, but trust me, it gets very easy!

Really, who wants to worry about collecting them "every time"? After a couple of play throughs this game is only good for achievements (albeit hard to get ones), unless you're one of those "Almas XXXX Child" people who just keep playing it.

Oh... you are!
Why won't you let me list my 100% achievement games, why Microsoft? Do you not care about our nerdy egos?

Some people play multi-tags, I could see why some people might like to remember. Had two main playthroughs and remember where they all are now. Now if these boosters were not illuminous, that last one would of been a real pain :)

For some reason this is the only game i've ever played through more than twice, apart from spiderman 3 - oh and gears but that's just stupid, why do they limit the difficulty =/

Re: Health and Reflex Boosters Guide

Is it from financial limitations that you replay the same game over and over, with new accouunts? If so... I understand.

But honestly, the FPS that I love beyond love is Bioshock, but after about 4 play-throughs (One on PC) I have no desire to play through again, unless I get the German version with a different set of achievements. Why? Because when there are so many other games out there, although maybe not as good, I want to play them, not revist old ground.

I would assume you've played through FEAR many more times than I did for Bioshock. I simply don't have the attention span to revist the same ground over and over, and FEAR is no Bioshock, to me, so your desire to keep playing FEAR perplexes me.

Yea what it all boils down to is likes and dislikes. Some people think Bioshock is the best thing since sliced bread. Some people hate it (me). It's just the same with Fear. I don't want to seem offensive towards Bioshock it just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe it's through financial situations people make new tags but sometimes people just want a fresh start. Or join a clan or something along those lines. I can't see why you are posting about people playing this game too much. If you like a game you are going to play it. I've played quake 3 for over 10 years now. I just don't get bored from it because I love it. PS. This is my only account.

My post wasn't supposed to compared the merits of Bioshock and FEAR, I made it quite clear it was simply my opinion...

My point, well question, was: "Why play the same game over and over?". Even if you love it, it must get grating!

Re: Health and Reflex Boosters Guide
I didn't mean it like that. I wasn't comparing the game if you read it. I said some people like fear. Some people like bioshock. Some poeple like viva pinata it doesn't matter, would you rather play a game you don't like or a game you do. Some people stick to them because quite simply almost all the others are really bad and I feel that way with quite a lot. It's rare I find a game I like.

I play some games over and over because I enjoy them but with games I love I play it over and over no matter what. If you truly love a game, it never gets grating. I mean these Alma guys have recreated or renamed tags to be in the Alma's children clan. They must really love this game. I don't see why they shouldn't play what they love.

The games I've really ever loved are:

Theme Park
Theme Hospital
Quake 3
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Diablo 2
Deux Ex
Then Fear / DMC4

Out of all the games i've ever played these are my mains. So it is quite rare I find games I really do like and enjoy so much. So I hold on to them because of the rarity. That's all I can explain for my reasons...

That's a fair point, I played F.E.A.R., DMC, THP8 and a bunch of other games over and over on different tags, but I still play loads of other games in between, I beat Bioshock a bunch of times, Fable2, Gears, Gears 2, COD 3, COD 4, and alot more, I just keep comming back to F.E.A.R, DMC, THP8, & I forgot to mention, Halo 3!

Ollie have you ever been treated for O.C.D or Multiple Personality disorders??? The amount of tags you have had and the amount of time you have replayed the same games over and over amazes me. Its not a bad thing or anything trust me i'm not perfect (my real first name is defect) and its good to have some character. There are pills available though which may make you feel more settled in one skin.

Also for FEAR 2 is everyone getting new tags or sticking with the one's you have now or returning to older tags?
I'm sticking with Mental Jim as he is I and I am Him.

Re: Health and Reflex Boosters Guide
Ha ha, Thankyou! Someone who sees my side of the discussion!

The great thing about the Internet these days (web 2.0) is that it is more interactive and personalised that it used to be. The current Gen systems embrace this new way of communicating by giving us a gamerscore: a tally of things that is unique to us and there to share with the internet, much more interactive than: sit down, play Halo, go to bed.

Why someone would go to the trouble of making gamer-tags that nobody else will see? And WHY would someone keep playing the same game over and over, especially a shooter as generic and lacking in variety as FEAR? I felt a sense of achievement when I got all the booster packs, however if I played through again and went to the trouble of finding them all again, well I wouldn't feel a sense of achievement, I'd feel I've wasted my time!

Just buy another game! There's plenty of good ones out there!!

I've played plenty of good games besides FEAR, but for me and some in this community...this is THE game we keep coming back to because it's our "niche."  Just like you feel there's "nothing wrong with playing a game to completion then moving on to another," to us there's nothing wrong with playing the same game over and over...it is done out of sheer love of a favorite game.

Re: Health and Reflex Boosters Guide
So what's the verdict, can you reload levels to pickup missed boosters, or do they all have to be collected in a single continuously playthrough (like BioShock's diaries and Fallout 3's bobbleheads)?

I did my best to read this entire thread, but did not see an answer.

Thanks

Re: Health and Reflex Boosters Guide
When I used the guide, I got them all with it. I didn't try it via level select cause I always played a full playthrough for a certain achieve and got all the boosters to aid me. Not sure if it's possible though. This game is pretty strict about shortcuts like that. I wonder if it is possible..

You cannot do it with level select. I think if you've gotten them in previous playthroughs you don't have to get them again though.

Man, but how would you know? If I don't get it, I'll going to do an easy playthrough and see if I can get them all, and maybe not use slo mo and maybe (big maybe) not die. I wonder what the most playthrough achievements is that you can actually get in one playthrough?

Just follow the guide here. It works... and it's written pretty good... I didn't mind playing the campaign a few times to get other achievements. It's a fun game. I don't see why they'd make a game for ppl to lose interest in it after 1 playthrough.. anywho

At the most, two campaign playthroughs would have to be done to get all campaign related achievements.  But that takes many many campaign playthroughs to pull off such feats.  I know of me, Kenny, and Ollie that have pulled off an extreme difficulty run while also going for real time/no juice.  Going for ammo hog and exterminator in the same playthrough makes for an interesting combo and I've done that once.

"Ammo Hog" - I had not noticed that one... Jeez that sounds tough... What would be goal? Mêlée a lot? Grenades? Headshots? I doubt I'll ever get that one... This game has some TOUGH achievements.

I thought it was hard when I first saw it. Then I ran through the game, running past everyone I saw.. meleeing anyone who got in my way, but rifle any locks open and shotgun blast any heavies I had to kill to proceed in a level. Got to the end and I let all the ghosts touch me without shooting them and I nailed it on my first try.

By "heavies" do you mean those bigger tougher guys? It's seems like it's taking me 10 shots to bring them down... I did not really count, but I certainly have not figured out the best way to take them down. For now, I'm just killing EVERYTHING (hopefully I will get exterminator).

Bust out your VK-12 Shotty, hit the slowmo, and get right up in his grill and plow his face plate with 4 accurately aimed blasts.  That will have him roaring that death cry in a jiffy.

I prefer to take the heavies out with out using slo mo. Activate Slo mo to get close then de activate it as they will only melee so you shoot, step back, then forward and shoot step back much easier i find.
