It's not about making YOU unbiased. It's about making the boards unbiased. If you post an opinion, and 10 other people disagree with you, and it turns out to be a point of conflict on the boards, who are you/other mods going to lock out/ban/delete first? The answer is clear.

Also, please don't tell me it's about "HOW" someone says something that "often" matters. What is wrong with someone saying something purely legitimate (in a 5 page thread, nonetheless) that makes the thread worthy of being in the "Wish List and Feedback" section?

Besides, the whole point of being a moderator is not being biased aka having an opinion. You don't see debate moderators telling everyone what their personal opinion is. Similarly, you don't see judges expressing their personal opinion about anything.

Same goes for vanity threads. Stop responding in threads that serve no purpose other than coerce you to increase someone's CUL, which otherwise has no bearing upon how helpful a person is towards the community. I can name at least 3 people off the top of my head who are always wrong about technical matters, and yet enjoy a CUL of 5 or above. It is more of a sham than anything.

Posts are not locked simply because someone disagrees with someone else, whether it be a mod/mvp/community member. When they are locked/deleted is when things get out of hand and personal attacks are thrown (of course there are other reasons but this is pertinent to this conversation). It IS all about how someone expresses themselves. If someone is going around deleting and locking things just because it's a differing opinion, I'd like to hear about it. If a large conflict is forming, then the entire thread should be locked. If people can't control themselves, then hey, too bad. Deal with the consequences.

Secondly, this is an Xbox 360 forum. It's not a general gaming forum. What are we supposed to be unbiased about? Just your opinions? Have you seen how many complaint threads there are? How can you think we are possibly biased? This is starting to sound more and more like a personal issue.

Mods are picked according to their knowledge of the console, their willingness to help others and their ability to enforce the rules fairly. It has absolutely nothing to do with judging you as a person or your opinions as long as they are written in a mature, non-confrontational, non-profanity laden way and are not helping to spread misinformation.

As for vanity threads, what does that have to do with raising/lowering CULs? I do look in threads that have questions about CULs to see if someone needs help or if there are any recommendations. BUT, I have never upped someone just because they, or a friend of theirs think they deserve it. I look through histories before even considering a raise or lowering. If you have issues with some higher CULs, bring it to my attention, whining about anonymous people helps nobody.

DirtyDiva, it's not about JUST you. Quit saying "I" in response to the points I raised earlier. I have no personal issues, however hard you might try. I spend less than an hour a week on these boards. Anyone who spends less than half the time I spend on here could tell you that things are not "just" or "impartial" here. It doesn't affect me perosnally, since I am just a gamer and own no Microsoft stock. Keep on trucking, but don't run away from constructive criticism that deep down you know is true.

There might be complaint threads, but the only time I really did pay regular attention to these forums, ALL of them were trashed or moved inappropriately, and there was HARDLY anything getting out of hand in any of them, except the moderators blaming people for complaining.

I don't care how mods are picked. As long as my gaming money doesn't go towards funding an anti-community, I am all for it....oh wait.

Again, quit responding with "I". It's not just about you. I'll give you an example. Look at Positronic's posts in the "web browser" thread. Then go back a little and read how he blatantly called everyone with faulty 360s an idiot. When people called him out on that, he threatened to report them. Now, he enjoys an "on topic" icon, and a CUL of 5. Is that what the community is all about? Blame me or my house wiring for a console? Is it really wise to openly spread FUD about why a browser would, in his words, "open" ports on the 360 that would make it insecure? I mean this is jsut one example I have here, and again, I spend less than an hour a week on these boards.

It's NOT a personal issue. It's a fact.

Cheers, and have a good day.

Let's look it from another angle. The moderators are everyday ordinary members like you and me, having accepted a voluntary and unpaid position to keep these forums at bay. Because of that and just considering the amount of activity here, there is no way each and every decision would be comparable with each other. As such, "I" is a more honest and accurate term than "we".

Just the same, if you have a problem with any given post by any user with any CUL, use the report feature to give the relevant people a nudge as keeping an eye on every single thread and post happening on these boards is impossible unless half the users were moderators. Just like the silly people posting lock icon posts in threads - "good" for boosting post count and throwing fuel to the fire but pointless in every other way.

And, of course, that applies the other way around as well. If evil deeds occasionally go unpunished then good ones do too, often even more thanks to the human nature. If you see someone being constantly helpful and posting in a constructive fashion for a long period of time then by all means let them be known (as a shameless promotion, I'd name both Avenging Titan and Runway 360 who have been at the same CUL for as long as I can remember...)

Amen brother. Although you {insert moderators name here} may do whatever you want, which is obviously in your power, do not try to jedi-mind-trick us into thinking that you guys don't run a tight ship around here, that which is very bias at some times, and is involuntary at best.

:: sigh :: This is a no win situation for me as I feel like I can't have a conversation with someone who is so blatently angry.

I replied with "I" because I am my own person and can only answer your questions from my own observations and how I do things. *We* do follow a given set of rules but obviously, we have our own personalities and interpretations. If anyone has ever overstepped their bounds and done things that are not right, I'm all ears. Believe it or not, fostering the community is what we're all about. We don't strive to make you unhappy.

You gave me an example of someone who was acting inappropriately. I would have preferred that to be a private conversation but it's something that I will look into. Thanks.

I have a supply of foil hats for those who don't want to succomb to my jedi mind tricks. Please form a line. Smile [:)]

Right now I could let go enough to never come back here. I'd rather be glum at the moment. Letting go seems more dismal than "glum", to me.

Very, very far. Just like in real life, there are always people we dislike and no matter what we do, we cannot change them. In internet, such people are even more common. Rather than wasting time in changing other persons, it's more productive to cultivate your own ideals. If your approach is more correct (very loose term again), people adapt to it out of their free will.

Well, you're basically challenging the whole system with the usual ammo of people in charge not doing anything right. If you're sure your post is going to get deleted then wouldn't it be better to rephrase it before posting? Speaking from personal experience, it is quite possible to disagree with moderators and even almighty Trixie without getting penalized. It all boils down to how you present your case, although "lame joke" is just as bad as "I'll name my children after you." There are countless shades of gray between black and white and as real life is just as little about being either on or off, why would these forums be any different?
