OFP2 has good looking graphics. That's a fact.

But as far as realism goes, I think ArmA2 will take home the gold.

The new OFP2 footage looks similar to BF: BC.

I think the graphics look perfectly fine. Then again the only person I usually hear complain about graphics in military games is my girlfriend. She says every military game has graphics that are too green and brown... go figure.

Re: Sound Off If You're Waiting For Operation Flashpoint 2 (XB360 Version)
Based on all the new info for OFP2, now called Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (they dropped the '2'), I made a list of pros and cons. Keep in mind that I am a fanatical supporter of the original OFP.

PROS
  • Mission Editor (Which I'm sure will be similar to the Mission Editor in the original OFP)
  • Hardcore Difficulty (Hopefully it will have no HUD and damage will be one-shot kill like in the original OFP)
  • Command System (It seems as though the command system will be as advanced as in the original OFP. In the recent Ego Tech video I saw the following commands : Regroup, Halt, Move, Suppress, Assault, Flank Left and Flank Right. Also, I saw the following command groups : Advance, Defense, Fire and Movement)
  • Destructible Buildings (Something the original OFP never had to a realistic extent)
  • 24 Hour Day/Night Cycle (Don't know if its real-time, but if it is it'll drastically improve the realism)
  • Very Detailed Graphics (Something the original OFP never had)
  • 4 Player Online Co-Op (Something the original OFP never had)
  • I'm not sure if this is confirmed, but I remember hearing about the ability to switch ammunition types in OFP2 (Which if true could drastically increase the realism)
  • According to a new preview by Gamespot UK, wounded enemies can crawl to safety or get back up and continue engaging you (I don't think I've seen that in any game)

CONS
  • The regular difficulty settings will probably make OFP2 play like COD4 or BF: BC
  • The character movement and weapon movement looks as though it was taken directly from BF: BC
  • The vehicle controls have been simplified (This drastically takes away from the realism)
  • Based on the Ego Tech video it seems possible to run-and-gun in OFP2 (At least with the regular difficulty settings)
  • Based on the Ego Tech video it seems that we'll be commanding and interacting with less units as opposed to more in the original OFP (Hope this isn't the case)
  • Perhaps the biggest con of all, we still don't know much about OFP2 (Mostly from lack of current build in-game footage)
  • The location-based damage system of the original OFP seems to be missing in OFP2 (based on the Ego Tech video). I REALLY hope that location-based damage will be in OFP2

Re: Sound Off If You're Waiting For Operation Flashpoint 2 (XB360 Version)
The location-based damage system of the original OFP seems to be missing in OFP2 (based on the Ego Tech video). I REALLY hope that location-based damage will be in OFP2 - was already confirmed area damage in pc gamer magazine a few months ago, and also confirmed by some devs in a presentation I believe.

Based on the Ego Tech video it seems that we'll be commanding and interacting with less units as opposed to more in the original OFP (Hope this isn't the case) - quoted by helios (Community manager i.e. he is our lapdog between flashpoint dev team and us) "I just wanted to clarify that in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising the player will be able to command not just the one 4 man fireteam as was said in the UGO preview, but it will also be possible under certain conditions as a squad leader to command multiple fireteams."

Based on the Ego Tech video it seems possible to run-and-gun in OFP2 (At least with the regular difficulty settings) - In the one of the reviews one of the reviewers stated this will not be like COD/ BF at all since its possible to die in one shot to three.

The regular difficulty settings will probably make OFP2 play like COD4 or BF: BC - Just play the harder difficulty. :)

(Agreed on suckingness)

Hopefully, OFP: DR will live up to our expectations.

Nice. After watching that Russian Federation and Chenarus Defense Force videos, I think ARMA2 seems like it could be one the coolest games ever, in my opinion. At least both of those videos can pretty much be summed up as awesome. I really like the music and in game footage looks good.

Can you play the original OFP on the 360? Just the other day I swear I seen one of my friends playing OFP but when I asked him did he have a modded Xbox he didn't reply.

OPF Elite can only be played on the original black box. Great game. If you get a chance check it out, still lots of people playing it daily.

I was excited until I heard that it won't have split-screen, now; not so much.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Yeah. I know how you feel. When I found out this game won't have any airplanes, I was devastated. Now I'm not too sure if I even want this game that much anymore. I just have to wait till ArmA 2 now.

Re: Sound Off If You're Waiting For Operation Flashpoint 2 (XB360 Version)
Since watching recent ARMA2 developer playing interviews at GDC it's confirmed coming out on the 360 and we're getting a simplified mission editor too. OPFDR2 is officially off my radar since we still don't know jack about the game and confirmation of no mission editor.

I think that guy was on acid or flintstones vitamins.
