just to clarify, a blade keeps popping out of the right hand side of my screen saying the storage device containing the active profile is disconnected when it clearly isnt.

update: many thanks to McPhersonator for the workaround. I decided 20 quid for a memory unit was better than waiting for microsoft to get around to fixing the 'storage device containing active gamer profile is disconnected' issue, if it was even fixable. i'm pretty sure switching off my xbox while it was attempting to communicate with the leaderboards (my game froze after unlocking the first dlc achievement on 25/07) corrupted my gamer profile in some way. so i bit the bullet and bought a memory unit, backed up my corrupted profile, deleted it from HDD, emptied HDD cache, and recovered my gamertag from xbox live. on booting up Ninja Gaiden, and downloading the update again, I was still getting the profile error message, but after a couple of clicks, the achievement i had unlocked 5 days previously finally registered on live, and my game seems fine now. live was very sluggish last night, but i put that down to my internet connection.....i'll monitor that over the coming days.
