Re: FIRST IMPRESSION ALL WHO'VE PLAYED RESPOND
They tried too hard to include various aspects of other games (which do work). It's a bit of Battlefield, a RTS, Counter-Srike, 3rd person shooter. It seems just a mangled mess.

Re: FIRST IMPRESSION ALL WHO'VE PLAYED RESPOND
I decided to post again.  This game has many minor weaknesses.  And when your allies are not as good as the enemy, it can be an exercise in frustration (I imagine all games like this are).  The one thing it does have though is its easy to get some games in quick, its fun, and its addictive even with all the limitations of the demo.  If they make a sequel it will be one of the few times I think a sequel is justified, they could really expand on this.  It would be great to have more choices for teams, instead of just allies vs axis.  Do it by country.  I keep getting the urge to play more matches.

I definitely liked the concept of this game, but I think THQ needs to touch up the controls a little and the graphics need an overhaul.  I agree this game will be in the shadow of the likes of GRAW and Oblivion and probably won't get much recognition, but if you're somewhat of an RTS fan I think you will enjoy the game.

LOL...with games like GRAW

You would rather spend your $60 on "THE OUTFIT" then to put it towards one of these games...ARE YOU MAD??

That's awful presumptuous of you, Mike01.  What makes you think that he's not going to get any of those other games just because he pre-ordered The Outfit?

Everyone has different tastes and may not agree with your particular list.  Personally, I'm not the least bit interested in EA's latest milk-the-cash-cow port of BF2.  The original xbox version was a pale imitation of its pc counterpart and a fresh coat of paint isn't going to change this.  It'd be nice to see EA actually release a game that wasn't just a rush job port of an old xbox game (Madden, Tiger, Burnout, BF2, etc.)!

Blazing Angels sounds interesting but will probably be one of those that makes it to the discount bin within 3 months.  I'm picking up GRAW, Oblivion and probably The Outfit now that I've enjoyed the demo.  I'm also going to get some of the other March releases for Xbox, PS2, PSP and DS this month.  The decision to get those games has nothing to do with whether or not I buy The Outfit.

I thought the demo was ok... I definitely need to play it some more but so far I thought the movement is a little slow and controlling vehicles is not intuitive.

It has potential but I'm not sure if I'm going to spend the money when I could buy ESIV: Oblivion instead.

4) Vehicle control is a joke. (running over a wheel barrel with a half track makes the half track spin out of control!?)

5) Players take waaaay to much damage before they die. (I ran a guy over with the half track 3 times in a row without killing him)

Yeah I think these points you made were good, I can understand they wanted to make those trenches with water a barrier, but I would have rather huge rolls of barbed wire instead of dieing from water...

The Vehicle control is the worse I have ever used.... Why cant these guys just use the halo system for cars... Please or something else...

I donno about taking too much damage cuz Ive seen guys go down quick, but driving over guys should kill them the first time, and it doesnt.... and your own guys should get the *** out of your way..

This demo is a perfect example of why many developers wont be putting free downloadable demo's on the 360. Its basically negative advertising. I had every intention of buying this game before. Now I dont even think its worth a rental. Im not sure if its hit gold stage or not yet, but I dont care. From what ive seen I do not like this at all. There seems to be problems with just about everthing. Most importantly, the controll is atroscious. The best I can say is the draw distance was great, woopie! After playing about 20 rounds I deleted the demo, enought said.

I thought it sucked. Theres far too many shooter games out there, so I only play the best. I don't waste my time on mediocre crap like "The Outfit".

Mmmm, lets see. The game has guns, you shoot them. I'd say its a shooter.

I think you lack this thing called logic.

The demo really disappointed me. THQ called it a strategic game, but it's all running and shooting. I even won all my online matches, but don't ask me how.

I can definitely see how demos may put some gamers off, but at the same time, I think releasing them has a positive effect that may offset these negatives.

Case in point:  putting aside all of the [probably appropriate] critical reviews about The Outfit's poor controls and "curious" gameplay, IMHO it's a fun little waste of time, and I plan on purchasing two copies - one for myself and another to play with my kids.

Had I just read the reviews in this forum and not had the opportunity to test the game and draw my own conclusion, I probably never would have bought the game; it wasn't even on my radar prior to seeing it on the Marketplace.

That being said, viva la demos!

So there are swords in Elder Scrolls Oblivion but that isn't a hack and slash now is it.

A shooter is a game where primarily all you do is shoot. You look left and right and shoot. Maybe you might throw a grenade or 2 but most of what you do is shoot. GRAW is a shooter, Quake4, PDZ, Counter Strike, Black those are all shooters.

Now in outfit you can win a game without even shooting once. The main thing to do in outfit isn't to shoot but to capture an enemy territory and build a fort on it. This game is a RTS that you can shoot in. It is not a shooter that plays like an RTS.

Swords were in RPGs before the Hack n' Slash genre came to be bud.

Outfit is a shooter, the gameplay is primarily based around shooting other people. It may have some RTS elements also, but you primarily shoot ***. End of story.

Regardless I still think the game is garbage.

Re: FIRST IMPRESSION ALL WHO'VE PLAYED RESPOND

I personnaly liked this game.   There are some really awesome graphic games out there that just suck.  Graphics are not enough to make a good game.  On the flip side there are some really enjoyable games out there that have poor graphics.  This game falls closer to this category, but not quite.  I think the graphics aren't even that bad.  A bit cartoony, yes.  But decent resolution cartoony.  Third category - bad graphic games that suck (Tony Hawk - American Wasteland).

I have downloaded every single demo available on the 360 and I played this one far more than any of the others.  I just had fun playing it.

Will I use it to demonstrate to friends how good the graphics are on the 360?  No.  Will I spend uber-hours playing this game?  *** yes!

So given this "logic", would one then deduce that since a gamer streaks through time trials in certain scenes, pedal to the metal, driving a fully loaded, er, um, Crabby Pattie (a.k.a. hamburger), that "Spongebob Squarepants:  Lights, Camera, Pants!" is then a racing game?

'Cause if so, then man did the PGR3 developers spend too many light nights in the office...

I'd really like to know where you guys are buying your games from.  I'd love to buy these games for the $60 that most if not all of you are quoting.  Everywhere I go it's 69.99 canadian and it works out to be 80.49$ after taxes.  Either you guys are living in a fantasy world or your still thinking last-gen game prices.

Toys 'R Us down the street from my house in Connecticut.

$59.99 for the game plus $3.60 tax totals $63.59 USD.

(And according to my receipt, my friendly cashier was Kathy.  Bonus!)

Separately, when EBGames called me about my GRAW pre-order, they said that they were running a promotion for the next few days where I could trade in any two used 360 games for a free new one.

I'm gonna go up there tonight and dump Amped and Quake 4 for a title that I don't have...

A "shooter" is a game in which all you do really is....shoot.  The Outfit is an RTS (Real Time Strategy) game with a little bit of shooting from your main character.  When I play the game, I barely ever shoot my gun....I spend most of my time taking over enemy bases and dropping down tanks and turrets.  The fact that you consider this game a "shooter" is probably the same reason you don't like it.  I didn't like this game until I realized that it's a strategy game more so than a shooter.

I was actually replying to the other guy but I didn't want to go through 6 pages and find where he posted that. I was just pointing out like you how much it costs in the US. I stated that some games here are $49 the same as last gen because he said "Some of you guys are living in last gen" reffering to the prices.
