I got my exact same console back, same serial #. Should I be prepared for another RROD within the next 2 weeks?
Maybe before The Beatles game comes out I'll get a Wii, apparently they are announcing they are making it HD at e3 too, another good reason to get one. That, and you know, it doesn't break every month.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
I just had my console RROD and set up a repair.  What I was wondering is ,

1. When I get my 360 back, what are the chances of my game licenses (arcade games) being transferred?  I know there is a utility to transfer the licenses but I used it already on the console that is being sent in, this is a refurbished unit I was sent a while back and when the utility was released I transferred the licenses, so am I going to have to wait out a year before I can transfer them again?

2. My console beeped at me before it red ringed.  Caught me off guard and I thought it was maybe it's way of saying, "See you, I'm outta here!".  Anyone else ever had there console beep at them?

3.  How long are the repairs taking these days?  The last time I sent mine in it took almost 3 months.  Is there anyway to determine this, i.e. from where you live etc...   I'm in Alabama.

Just curious,
Thanks

1. There was a sheet that says how to do it that comes with the console, I don't have any arcade games on mine so I didn't try it. Looks like you can though.

3. Mine came back in only 13 days, same console too. Texas to NY, not sure if it is any quicker if you live closer to Texas though. They must be pros at this now or something. Unless they just do a crappy job to get it out quick and it'll break again.

Mine lasted an hour after I got it back. I'm going with "get it out quick"

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
I'm now on my 4th or 5th RRoD in 3 years. I have had to send my Xbox 360 in so many times I forget how many times I have sent it in. I send my console in for an RRoD and then when I get it back the hard drive has issues so I have to send the 360 and the hard drive in. I get a refurbished hard drive and the 360 gets RRoD. I send in the 360 and get a scratched, refurbished model. I'm suprised the customer support doesnt know me by name! It's ridiculous how poor the quality of the system and the repair service are especially since I've been a loyal Xbox customer since 2002. I got Live a few months after Live started, I wasted money on the themes and gamer pics that are now useless (though thats another topic), and I generally support Microsoft products. I dont see the point of complaining or getting angry at the customer service reps, considering most of them are obviously not able to do anything about the quality of the service or the product. Microsoft apparently likes to continue the cycle of sending out refurbished models that have a max life span of 6-10 months and hoping that the customer's warranty has run out to pocket an easy 120$ by sending a POS refurbished model. I apologize for ranting and I know this wont change any of Microsoft's practices but I didnt buy my xbox to spend a couple weeks every few months sending it to Texas to get replaced with another POS model. I bought it to enjoy the games that only Microsoft has and to enjoy the online support that only Microsoft can deliver. I guarantee I wont be purchasing the next Microsoft system at launch if I purschase it at all. Sorry for the wall of text but I'm tired of this run-around with Microsoft.Angry [:@]

I'm thinking of just having a 3rd party repair/fix it.

You can buy the hardware and do it yourself. Sure it voids the warranty but after warranty you know you have a defective machine anyway right?

I don't want it modded, just fixed so that the unit plays like it should.

Reading some of these posts scare me.  I am on my second fix and I hope it comes back fixed and doesn't get a third RROD in a month or even weeks.  I'm just wondering something:  do executives at Microsoft read these threads and see how problematic their console is -- and how technicians can not fully fix the RROD when it's sent to Texas?

I realize that UPS doesn't  ship on weekends, but do they atleast check their inventory? I ask this because I dropped my Xbox off on Saturday morning and it still says Billing Information received. Shouldn't they atleast have my package in the system by now?

Oooops!  Just sent my Xbox off for repair without putting my contact details and the service request number on the outside of the packaging.  Will mine get lost?  I really should read instructions fully before launching into whatever I happen to be doing.  As you can probably guess; I don't read game manuals either. It won't get lost.  I, myself, didn't put the service request number outside of the box.  But I did put the console's serial number because the phone rep said so.  Even if a number wasn't present outside of he box, it'll reach Texas for repair and they'll figure it out.

If you selected the option for it to be shipped to you, it will be shipped to you. The only thing you have to do is drop off your 360 to a UPS center.

Also, me and Outstrafes problem is important, someone help please.

I received an e-mail this morning (May 13); I sent my console to Texas from Miami on May 7, so that's about 5 days.  I check my repair status and it has the REPAIR box glowing.  I guess the time frame depeneds on where you live.

Well I sent in my elite after it finally died on me. I got it the weekend it came out back in '07. I sent it in around the 5th and today I got an email saying it was back. I'm curious- do I just get a replacement of the same elite motherboard or do I get one of those new valhallas? It's an elite so it already started with an HDMI port.

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
after just getting my xbox360 elite fixed in december now my harddrive has failed. it will lock any console its connected to. 114 game saves lost because microsoft wont allow us to back up. even sony who sucks gives the ability to back up. microsoft has succesful turned the gaming console experience into a pc nightmare.to all do your self a favor DO NOT BUY MICROSOFT SERVICE CONTRAT!! BUY BEST BUY REPLACEMENT PLAN11 DIFFERENCE BEST BUY REPLACES ALL WITH NEW. MICROSOFT MAKES YOU SEND IN PIECE BY PIECE. NO 2 TO 3 WEEKS OF WAITING. The worst part is they think its acceptable to not provide us away to back up our data in order to protect theirs. But what about my rights the right to back up data in case of hardware failure. i have bought 3 brand new xbox 360's two pro and one elite not one of them has worked for a year straight most being repaired multiple times.what burns me is i buy a product from a place like tigerdirect and when i have failure under warrnty they send brand new unit (billing my credit card until they recieve defective unit) and the whole process is over in less then 2 weeks and i usualy up and running in the first week not 3 to 4 weeks later.i think if my household were to add up all the downtime of our xbox360 consoles it would be over 6 months. somebody having to play ps3 because my xbox360 is broke again

I also have no registered consoles on the xbox.com repair site, had the same thing last time my console RRoD'd on me as well.  They should send you an email with the UPS tracking details so you can follow it's return journey once fixed.

It may also mean that they're sending you back a different machine which they will do if yours is completely fragged.

Is there a way to re-print your label, the label itself looks too small, or is it suppose to be that size?

for everyone who is saying it says they have no registered consoles just wait it out this usually means they are updating ur status(such us waiting for you xbox to received your xbox) well at-least thats what i think because i have been getting the same thing happening to me and i check 10 mins later and it updates my status.
First xbox: 10/26/2006-5/14/2007

Refurb #1: 7/23/2007-5/1/2009

Re: RETURN, REPAIR, and SHIPPING DISCUSSION (Thread 2)
This is VERY STRANGE, I just received an e-mail (May 14) from Microsoft, claiming that my console is repaired.  So I went and check the repair status and do not see that status.  However, when I checked my console registry, I see that they have changed my console and it has a different serial number. That means that they have changed my console instead of sending me back my regular 360.

I want to know something:  is the console that they are sending me NEW or a refurbished console?  I have a feeling they will send me a beat-up console that's been laying around their warehouse.  If I do get a beat-up and ugly console, I'm sending it right back and request a new one -- because my original console was in great shape (i.e., the exterior).

Yes, they will sometimes replace with a recon unit if yours is too far gone.  Your concerns of getting a console back that has been previously used as a football are more than justified, I've heard a few complain of the same thing.  Hopefully you'll get a unit back that has been as well looked after as yours, I can understand where you're coming from, mine also looks like new.  If I get a replacement that doesn't look as good as the one I sent in, then rest assured you won't be the only one on the phone insisting they take it back.

This is beyond annoying already, but to top off the fact my Elite died today (3 flashing red ring), I'm getting this error when trying to process an online repair request but keep getting this after choosing to print a label;

Tracking Number Error

We have not yet received your tracking number from the courier.

Well gee, how the heck am I supposed to print a shipping label to send it back if it gives me a stupid error like that?

I have just finished talking with a rep at Microsft concerning my refurbished console that will be sent to me. I called the MAIN number in Washington and spent 35 minutes talking to someone (15 minutes of that time, I had to listen to some stupid message, saying "are you a Gold member, it's cheaper than a latte, blah blah blah).  I asked for a new console instead of a refurbished console and the rep said that the console that will be sent to me is good and has a new motherboard -- because my original console was beyond repair.

I insisited on a new consle and he referred to another person called resolution rep or whatever.  This person says that in his computer he sees that my orginal console will be sent to me with a new motherboard. I told him they changed my status online by adding a new serial number on the console, which means it's a different console that is a refurbished one and he states that -- he doesn't see it on his screen (Yeah right) so I have to wait until I get the console to see if it's the original one or a different one.  Basically, I was given the runaround.  Strangely, the first rep I spoke to saw the second serial number on my account and claimed I am being sent a refurbished console.

He gave me a reference # and told me to call back when the console arrives for them to take care of the situation. Microsoft is really ANNOYING and ANGERING the hell out of me.
