Well, it looks like he's still going! Go, PxM, go!

Maybe timed mode will actually make it into the trillions! That's quite an accomplishment!

Even I don't have the patience for timed mode! lol

I'm keeping a marathon game going, but in the meantime, I'm trying to figure out the nuances of that silly Survival mode. I thought I was on to something, but when I look at the leaderboard for it, the game stats make very little sense.

If anyone has any insight, I would love to hear it!

Until then, I'll keep plugging away until I make a breakthrough!

Yeah, I don't know much about Survival Mode (or Uncle Fester, as Flobby calls it) either. From what I gather, though, the mode doesn't reward you for completing it earlier (which I believe it should, really), rather, going on for as long as you can and removing the last pieces at the end.

Also, a trillion in Timed Mode would be INSANE! PrisonxMike is clearly good enough, though so I know he'll do it!

Sorry for the double post but this editing time glitch is annoying me. (The forum time is 1 hour behind, hence it believes you've gone over your limit). I tried to edit PRISONxMIKE's GT coz I'd gotten it wrong lol.

School sucks.

Pulled off another 75 today to get my score to 225 Billion.  It's been nearly 2 weeks since the last MMC, mainly because I made a major bonehead move about a week ago when I had the MMC nearly completed and suffered a huge collapse that resulted in only 6 multipliers left. 

Anyway, going on vacation next week so I won't be revisiting the game for awhile. 

Reporter:  "Hey Flobber, you just pulled off the 75 B MMC for the 3rd time in your game, what are you gonna do now?"  ...

Me:  "I'm going to DisneyLand!!!"

Well, I'm nearing the end of my 2nd playthrough on Mass Effect, just got Virmire and Ilos to go...oh, wait a second, this has to be about Hexic?!? Damn! It doesn't mention Hexic in the thread title, the OP should've been more specific, what a n00b!

OK, so I haven't played Hexic for some time, I'm STILL raising money for a capture card as it stands right now and games like Hexic aren't very high up on the list until I have one. Only when I have acquired one will I be returning to this game.

Congrats on your progress, Flobby! Glad the Hexic Gods decided to acquiesce in the end. (Please don't sue me for using your word!)

Nothing. Nothing at all. I raised my high score from 260,000 to about 400,000, but the only thing I did was make sure that I put more emphasis on star multi hexes in my starflowers. I slowed down and planned out each move. It took forever to get through 50 levels and I didn't even crack the top 1000! If you completely clear a board, you get 250,000 points no matter what level you are on. That's why my first level clear wasn't my top score. Points do not advance as the levels do, so you are scoring the same in level 49 as you are in level 2 on your combos.

I have no idea how the high scores were achieved. the best I could've gotten was around 650,000. That's about 900,000 short of the top spot! There's a secret to it, but I am clueless!

I am not 100% sure that you get 250000 each time you clear survival, theEVOL1. I cleared mine on level 6 and ended up with 543166.  I am pretty sure I didnt get 293166 by the end of level six but i didnt record it so i will never know for sure.

That's odd. I have complete cleared 3 different times and have gotten 250k all 3 times. I can't remember what level I was on each time, but my personal high score is from completing all 50 levels.

Why is Hexic such a... dare I say, broken, game? I guess I'll keep on trying to figure something out! lol  Thanks for the info PxM! How's your timed game going?

I know I'm tempting the fates, but I rarely get any love anyway! lol

I took a break for awhile and played some Hexic 2 for a bit. That made me realize why I never went back after I got 200 on it! God awful colors, terrible control and reticle definition, and is it just me, or is that game really easy? I barely even tried and got to 130-something on the leaderboard. I pretty much let my game end because I could barely stand to play anymore! lol

Nothing like remembering why I play Hexic in spite of the frustration!

I don't know what it is, but since I've been trying to figure out the nuances of the "red headed stepchild" of Hexic, I find a game of survival quite relaxing! I imagine if I keep going, eventually I will figure something out worth posting!  

1.077 trillion and counting in my time mode game now and also congrats to Beers for taking fifth place with a 1trillion+  score .

Unfortunately I agree with EVOL1 about hexic 2, not so much about the color schemes but that they made the hexic board only take up about a third of the screen making it a nightmare for people with bad vision to play it. Also if anyone has any tips on how to fix the controls of that game I am all ears... I push over once and it will move two to three spaces -  press over twice it will move 3-5 times. I have tried everything to fix this and still it does this.(This is prob the only real reason I do not play Hexic  2)

I'm getting pretty good at building it. I guess it's only a matter of time before I'm in the right place at the right time.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. This game is a stern test of character, that's for sure. Only the most persistent will succeed.

I ended the game by letting a bomb detonate. I think 2 years was a few 2 many years! So my plan is to either do a big BPMMC, or do a few SFMMCS then finish with a big BPMMC...or i'll do that if my BPMMCs work...

Sorry to see you fell short of the Trillionaire Club, but congrats nonetheless.  A 2 year long game truly is a "Marathon" game!

MMC #4 done tonight - however something went wrong, it ended up giving me only half of the 75 Billion - not sure why, I double checked to make sure everything was in the right place before I triggered.   Oh well, tough to complain about only getting 37.5 Billion. 

Current score is now at 262 Billion.

No clue why it failed to count one of the multipliers - I double checked today when I started rebuilding the grid and the combo definitely used all of them.  No worries - in order to reach my target I would have needed to do a 37.5B MMC at some point anyway.  Speaking of which - yes, my goal score is still possible.  Given my current pace of an MMC about every 10 days or so, I'm gonna guess that I should reach it sometime in December - provided that I don't get completely hooked on ODST or COD 6 or that something bad doesn't happen to my game on the way - *prays silently to the Hexic Gods*

I'm sorry to hear of the glitch in your MMC.

As for me, I'm on Hexic HD hiatus. I feel like I'm getting a little burned out. I HAVE been playing Hexic 2 though. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment! Also, I'm 3 achievements away from getting all 99 achievements in the Orange Box. I think I'm going to go score whoring for a bit until I get to 70,000GS. Then I should be refreshed and ready to start a true marathon game, or maybe give the 1.4trillion another shot. We'll see!

I have a question. Has anyone ever tried to build an MMC out of the 4x4 grid? I was wondering because although you would have to be infinately more patient, that grid offers 5 more spaces which could make a huge difference near the end of building a huge MMC. I know there have been a few times that 5 extra spaces very well could have saved a game for me. I know the MMC will take up the same amount of space, but I'm just throwing something out there. Plus, I don't actually know how to build the 4x4! lol  How weird is that?!

Nope, I've never tried it with the 4x4, in fact, I've never even made the 4x4, only the Master's grid.

Ouch! Hexic 2: I really don't like that game, I can't even be bothered to get the achievements for it, even though they're easy, it's just so boring imo.

I'm definitely not as great as a lot of people, but I finally built my first grid last night! Only took me 3 1/2 hours, and made only four mistakes (two of which combo'ed starflowers).  I started doing this for the ultimate goal of getting the poo-bah. I guess the last real obstacle for me now is making that first pearl and re-establishing the grid afterwards. But, if I go about it slowly, I think the poo-bah is well within the realm of possibilty!
