Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread
This really annoys me. My 360 is brand new, less than a month old that is, so we can rule out hardware failure. I did download the update after signing up for the months trial of Live Gold.

LSWII was one of the first games I got. I am at 99.2 complete, I got all the extras etc the hard way, I replayed a level till I got th2 2x and 6x multipliers, then got all the minikits etc and got all the other extras in the process. I'm pretty proud of that.. stubborness..or stupidity hehe.

Anyway, the game locks up for me in super story mode on the river crossing in Endor also (3x so far). I'll try the solutions suggested here and see what happens.

I'm real annoyed that Lucasarts put out such a shoddy product, then tells a number of people that they have no other reports of this happening, and they don't fix it. I'm not used to shoddy product from Lucasarts. But then that could be because I usually get their games (I'm talking PC games) about a year or so after their release due to various things, so by then if there were bugs there would be patches etc, I'm not sure if I've ever had to download them though.

But in any case I'm really annoyed that Lucasarts is frustrating me due to incompetance and inability to accept responsibility. I felt like smashing things earlier. ... MORT SMASH! (yeah I'm a geek).

Anyway, I'll try again and get this done.. man those cut scenes are getting old.

Happened to me again for the third time in Endor!!   Music and vibration off, bloom set to 0.  I didn't shoot the two plants next to the river, tried to shoot as much as I could on the far side, then attempted to fly across as R2.....then got that sinking feeling!.....2 hours of my life wasted and counting......speeding through the cut scenes would be a really good option right now!  A patch to fix the game would be better.....I hope some boffin from LucasArts is reading this!

what e-mail address has been used to contact LucasArts?   I'd like to add my comments to their inbox.  They should at least acknowledge the problem and not try and fob people off with its not their problem and no one else has experienced the problem, when obviously it is, and lots of people have!

With 99.2% completion on this game and 3 failed river crossings, I'm not sure I can take much more....Sad [:(]

LucasArts doesn't accept e-mail, they haven't for several years now. You need to use snail mail or the phone. And good luck with the phone.

The number is 1-410-568-3670

Their LEGO Star Wars 2 XBox 360 support forums might be a good place to start too.

There is a thread regarding freezing issues so if they tell you they don't know about the problem, then they're either lying or they don't bother to read their own support forums.

All,

On my second attempt, I made it through; however, I did not shoot at anything until all characters were on the other side of the river.  Make sure you stay on the river to the left with R2 while the others cross...

Also, no problems with Death Star II--I let myself die quite a few times.

With both situations, I turned everything off in options...

I have to say SUCCESS!!! I played lastnight and turn music off, blooming to 4, vibration off. Took R2D2 up the stream a bit as others crossed, and no firing prior. And with escaping the deathstar, I had vibration/music off and let myself die often on the way out.

Sorry to rant but Tt and Lucasarts "do" have a bug here. This forum has been a great help!

Well, I don't know what to tell you guys but I made it through on my first attempt tonight.  I did turn off vibration at the beginning of the 1st chapter.  Other than that, I might have gone a little slower at the end with the Falcon.  Sorry so many people are still having trouble.  Mine went just fine.  Episode 4 and 5 to go!

Just to add - the Death Star II Super Story froze on me as I was flying out - turned off 360 and tried it again in an hour, finished it. Don't know if it matters, but I quit firing as soon as I could.

Yikes!

I can't believe this bug. Just encountered it going after my 99th brick and thought I lost my mind when it froze up as I was leaving the Death Star.

Guess I'll try some of these suggestions. Just gotta get in the mood to grind through all that again first.

I had some freezes in the beginning playing this game (3 times in a row, at the same spot in the first Deathstar battle Episode IV), but since i turned off the music, I have not frozen one single time. A forum buddy of mine told me not to shoot exiting the Deathstar in Superstory mode in episode VI. When I got there I was really pressed for time and could see I would fail if I didn't start shooting, so I did - and no freeze Cool [H].

Guess no music is all I need to be aware of - or maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones Wink [;)]

Followed this mans instructions on my NEW 360 (old one still away for repair) and SUCCESS also!
Good on you.
However not only do TT and Lucasarts have a problem it seems likely that this game is showing up shortcomings in the console itself (after toasting mine!)
And i only did it in 1hr 7 mins! Will i do it again....will i ****.
My confidence is partially restored in my 360 but time will tell.

Now to do those pesky Invincible rounds!
Thanks all for the help.

Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread
I tried it again after my last post, and the game still froze on me crossing the river with R2. Even though I had every option turned off or dialed all the way down. I didn't shoot anything after killing the three stormtroopers though.

I tried again after that, same set up, only this time I shot everything and actually stuck to the side of the bank I was on originally with R2, only going slightly up towards the waterfall, untill all people had crossed. Then I crossed and it worked.

I didn't take any chances once it got to leaving the death star II. All options off etc again, plus very little firing, only what was needed to clear the way. Died a lot of times too.

I still managed to finish with new records in both scores.

100% done.. now to get all the unbeaten achievements.. or those I have remaining..

Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread

I did Ep 6 Super Story last night, I scored about 160,000 studs and ended up completing it in 1 hour 20 mins.  I switched off music, vibration and blooming at the start of Chapter 6 and then let myself get killed repeatedly on the way out of the Death Star.  That last part alone must have taken me 3-4 minutes.

I still have never frozen at the river in Chapter 4...must be lucky I guess.  I've only ever had a problem exiting the Death Star.

One thing I did find was that in Chapter 1 (Jabba's Palace), I pulled a lever to close a hatch that Gamorrean guards come out of and then double-jumped (with Luke) as it was closing.  Somehow I managed to jump inside the hatch before it closed and couldn't get back out!  I had to quit out and start again.  I was not amused.

Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread
i just went to my parents house for teachers convention, and thought i would fire it up and try on their 360.  then i got the brilliant idea to transfer my gamertag (Boris Spassky) to the memory card and try it on their core 360.  so far it had frozen on me at least 10 times.  Lo and behold, it goes right through.  so, my suggestion, is to try it without the hard drive attached.  of course, you would need a memory card, but if you already have one, its all good.
My Wiis(plural, no, i don't have 2) are good for one thing.

Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread

Thanks everyone!  Finally beat it after nearly giving up completely.  We seem to have the magic formula worked out.  I concur that I did the following:

  • vibration off / music off / bloom filtering = 3
  • shot the stormtroopers at the river, left the plants.
  • took control of R2-D2 and went up the bank a bit (to where the dark force plants are) and went into the river but did not cross.  I heard the rest of my team cross and went down stream to where they were.  Crossed the rest of the way and everything was fine!
  • coming out the death star, I did not shoot at all.  I let the flames get me about twenty times.

DID IT!

Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread

Ditto.  I'm very happy to have seen this thread before I tackled this.  Many thanks.

After reading the first couple pages of this thread, I decided to take a particular route, and I went all the way through on my first attempt, with zero issues.

1. Played through to Endor, lowered the gate right before the river, and took out the three troppers that drop down from the tree from about where the gate was.  Switched to R2 then and there and rolled into the lowest plateau, then into the river (destroying nothing), turned left once I dropped into the river and went upriver (to the left) about one, maybe two character lengths, tops (i.e. not much, but thinking wishfully, enough to let them all get by).  Waiting to curse the developers for shipping with a hard lock, I watched as everybody crossed the river, I tentatively went back downriver a little bit and rolled up behind them all and up the hill, switched to a blaster character to take out the troopers... no lock.  Sweet.  One down, one to go.

2. Kept playing through to Death Star II, and played that level through the Star Destroyer section and up until the first torpedo objective before I remembered to turn off vibration.  Turned off vibration and continued the level, destroyed the reactor and began the escape.  After the second transition (entering the third section), I stopped dead and let the flames catch up and kill me.  Left the stick dead as I respawned and died again.  From there I flew forward as I normally would, again waiting to curse the developers for shipping with a hard lock, but it kept going, I finished the stage, got through all the ending razzmatazz, credits, back to the Cantina, not a hiccup.  Double sweet.

3. On a side note - as I've seen it brought up early in the thread (didn't read the last half) and was always under the impression that you needed to finish the Super Stories in under an hour and eclipse the stud total to get the brick - I went over the time limit, but did meet the score/stud goal, and as a result earned the brick.  Sweet³.

So again, don't know if it would have happened at all, but I'm entirely ok with that scenario.  I feel for those of you that are having the problem though, and hold out hope that they'll issue a patch ASAP.  It's one thing to lock up during a level... but it's another to have to play for ~45 minutes without a save point, only to get shafted for all of your effort over and over again.  Maybe something I typed above will help.

Re: Episode VI Superstory - Game Freeze Official Thread

I contacted Lucasarts a little over a week ago about this. Their first response was a form letter telling me to clean the disc and remove 360 peripherals and to exchange the disc. Their second response was again to tell me to exchange the disc. Their third response was this awesome quote:

"We have not had this reported to us, and we have not been able to duplicate this issue."

So they're either lying or they don't read their own tech support forums. Both = bad! They also copy/pasted their first response to really make it clear that they just don't care about this issue.

My reply:

You're telling me that Lucasarts tech support doesn't read Lucasarts' own Technical Support Forums?

http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=116906&tstart=0
http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=116848&tstart=0
http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=116011&tstart=0

That's three different platforms, PC, PS2 and 360, describing the exact same problem on your own forums. Can you still tell me this is a problem with my disc or my console? What steps did you take to attempt to duplicate the issue?

This is amateur. What happened to the Lucasarts of old? I will not rest until this is patched!!!

I got the freeze last night at the river; tried it again but this time switched to a different character (from Leia to Han) and crossed the river towards the left side of the screen.  I didn't need to turn off vibration (it was already off to begin with, even when I got the freeze), bloom filtering at default setting (i.e., unchanged), music unchanged (i.e., on).  I didn't experience the Death Star II freeze (knock on wood)...not that I'll get overly ticked off if it happens again, now that I was eventually able to complete the EP VI Super Story.

Thanks all.  I had the same issues and got it to work yesterday.  Used the R2D2 advice on Endor (shot three stormtroopers- moved R2 into stream and up a little-let everyone pass- went up bank and switched to Han)....no worries.  For the Death Star II I just died 5-6 times on my way out (caught in flames)...again no problems.  These forums can be a great resource and I appreciate all the great comments and willingness of everyone to help out.

I've tried EVERYTHING  listed on the forums (thanks for all your help on this btw) but have been through the same levels at least 7 times now and cannot get past the xbox crashing on the river section on Episode 4. After 6 hours of trying this is a complete joke! Seriously, if anyone on the Essex/Suffolk border is around that can do this i will happily pay for you to come round and get me past this awful glitch! I will even get you up to the point where you need to cross the river (and believe me i don't really want to look at another one of those cut scenes again)! Any further help from anyone on these forums will be much appreciated.
