Well... it looks like I'm not immune to this issue...
My 360 locked up on a black screen (just before replay should begin and probably where Achievement notification was to occur) when I pressed A after I received the message that the Raptor was unlocked. After power off and reboot I had the achievement but no plane... so I had to play the mission again, thankfully this time the game didn't lock up.

That appears to be Ubisoft's standard answer to any issue you report to them. Don't expect an answer or solution from them any time soon though... I still haven't seen any answers to my most basic questions for Blazing Angels submitted over a month ago!

I agree that this issue (and others) should have been detected during Beta and/or QA testing.
